2006 Is220D Engine Problems, Help Needed

Hello,

The car is Lexus is220d from 2006.

Discovered the problem when accelerating and car started to detonate and had a lot of smoke coming from the back end. Revs got up for 3 secs and came down afterwards.

Problem is that diesel leaks into the engine oil. When there was a lot of fluid in the engine, some of it got in front of turbo from hose connecting block head and air hose from turbo.

That made the car to detonate as there was fuel mixed with oil going in with air.

But can anyone help me with a question where could it leak diesel to the engine oil?

Injectors were tested in local lexus dealer with computer. Not 100% answer but all the numbers were correct. They said that the injectors are fine.

Changed the rings and seals for all the 4 injectors just in case.

they thaught that if any opportunities for the leak it was from injectors.

Problem remained unsolved.

Due to high pressure pump is connected to block we wanted to chek the pump - maybe it leaks.
Changed all the seals and a simmer on high pressure pump just incase. Did not change anything.
Try'd even to change the pump to another (used) one. No changes.

Recently it developed a new problem. Computer shows that the fuel rail pressure goes down and the car starts to "tumble".

The fuel valve solenoid should be responsible. Had a used one to test. No changes.

Will try to find out if I can buy the solenoid valve without a new high pressure pump.

Changed fuel filter just incase. No change.

Car might run correctly once in a while and then thumble again.
The tumbling is more likely to occure while using 4th and 5th gear in city and the revs are 1,5-2k or lower.
It occures with cold engine and warm engine.

It occurs while driving and while not driving.

The diesel leaks about 4-5 litres during 500-700km.
Car starts perfectly.
Does not "smoke" while driving.
Only smokes when thumbeling and i hold the revs higher than 2k for some time, not driving.

5th injector is changed a year ago in local dealership.
Egr is cleaned.
Computer shows no errors in egr or fith injector or anything at all.

Diagnostics show that everything is ok. Only fuel pressure going down - the recent developement vith the solenoid.

Dealership does not have any ideas what could be the problem with the diesel leaking into the engine.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any feedback

Edit: I am not located in UK. I am from Estonia

It could from the symptoms be the now infamous Head gasket Failure somewhat common on this engine.

Have you had a compression or leak down test done?

I know Lexus extended the warranty on there engines but whether this applies to vehicles worldwide I'm not sure.

Thanks for first answer.

Coolant level is the same.

Problem has been there for last 4 months.

If it were a head gasket problem would it happened by now?

The car is in daily use.

Oil change in every week.

No one has found any real reasons jet.

I will take my injectors to testing. Computer shows depending on flow back numbers that they are fine.

But just to be 100% shure.

What to test next?

Does anyone have a blueprint for the engine to look at where the fule could leak?

It leaks about 1 litre of diesel to oil in 100 km at the moment.

The car is not smoking.

The power is there if it is not "thubeling" at low revs.

Any next ideas?

Have the leak off on the injectors tested, check for fuel leaks around the fuel filter and make sure all pipes and unions are secure.

With the amount of fuel you are losing I'm surprised you cannot see where it is coming from, how do you know how much you are losing BTW?

I know how much I am losing this way:

I do an oil change.

I put 4 litres of oil in it.

It is the minimumrequired.

I drive 500km and do the oil change.

I let out 9 litres of oil.

That makes 5 litres per 500 km.

Edit: thats the hard part - it leaks into the engine oil. Not to the ground nor anywhere else.
