Well Guys: the final bill for the starter motor and taking out the engine a putting in another one, changing the inlet manifolds for l.p.g . gaskets,for the donor engine,new cambelt and tensioner, new oil filter, new engine oil,ATM5Ltrans fluid, replenished a/c,----etc. etc. the biggest bill was Labour £ 1220:40.Then the V.A.T. £393:75. Total bill came to-----------£2362:53. so there you have it. From now on I will be seeking out a decent indie.

No it hasn't, I use v power shell and I get good miles and mpg out of it.

But I thought the labour cost quoted was ( only !!! ) £50 per hour ..... did they take 24 hrs, working hours, to do the job ????

So is that the finnale or is there going to be further action regarding the claim?

Yes: That is the finale, after talking to a lawyer from the legal department from "WHICH",who said that it would be up to me to prove that the engine didn't have the problem before it went into Lexus. I would have difficulty trying to claim against them in a court. and if I lost they would claim for their costs. the first labour charge was for the starter motor (£104-per hour) the second was for removing and replacing the engines £50-per hour) Now I am a bit apprehensive about taking the car out should anything go wrong. sounds a bit daft I know but that's the feeling.

Thanks for the update and being so sensible ;sometimes in life we have to bite the bullet and accept the inevitable, you did your best to bring about a ending that could have been better ,but console yourself with the fact that it could have been a lot worse if you had let your heart rule your head .Go out and use the car whatever happens you need to get some value after all this .
