Color Of F Sport Wheels

So does that mean repairing the dreaded kerbed alloys is a domain for Lexus only? I have the 10 repairs in 3 years policy taken out when I bought the car.

Right basically if you kerb your wheels and need them fixing you have 4 options:

1 - Visit Lexus, get them to paint the kerbed wheels. 99.9% chance they wont be able to match the exact colour. They will say something like "we will paint both wheels on one side to get them matching". Obviously there wont be a huge difference but itll be noticeable. This is because there is no specific colour code.

2 - Visit Lexus and get them to paint "ONLY" the kerbed wheels. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Make sure they dont touch the other ones AT ALL! As I said before, 99.9% chance they will naff it up so to speak. On the day, complain to the manager and get him to replace all the wheels that THEY painted!

3 - Visit Lexus and get them to paint all 4 wheels in the same colour. Good option but slightly stupid if theres only 1 or 2 wheels which are kerbed.

4- Visit an independent specialist. They are better at finding a colour match BUT if they do a shoddy job, thats YOUR responsibility.

The main problem I discovered when my Lexus dealer supposedly "fixed" on my brand new RX450h F Sport was that the wheels are a PITA. Now what happened to me was that one wheel was kerbed when taking my car off the trailer. They said theyll sort it in 2 days since the wheel needs to be baked.

2 days later, their workmanship is top notch. No kerb rash anymore and actual painting on the wheel was first class. No problems in that regard, or in any other regard to be honest BUT the colour of the wheel was different. They said "we cant match it as there isnt a specific colour code". I asked for a replacement and they were fine with that. Sorted in the end, took a month for the wheel to arrive though from Japan but I guess thats not their fault. Service has been very good. At Lexus, loyalty actually means something!

Here is a pic of my wheel:

The wheels have been properly washed and dried. Tyres are still wet with dressing though. Hopefully, the pic shows the difference in colour between the front and back wheel. The back is the original, the front has been painted by LEXUS

Both of my F Sport front wheels have now been refurbished by an independent detailer employed by Lexus Plymouth. The Sales Manager at the dealership assured me that the colour match would be ok even if all 4 wheels had to be re-painted.

The result after 1 day with the dealership is both front wheels looking like new and a perfect match with the back wheels. I enquired if all 4 wheels needed to be re-painted and was told that the rears had been cleaned only.

Unfortunately the pictures that I have are too big to upload???

i've had mine done a couple of times under the policy I took out when I bought the car and on both occasions the wheels were taken away to be done, rather than on site as I believe is usually the case. On both occasions they were returned and matched the unaffected ones perfectly. The chap that did it said you have to know how to mix the two paints together and that he was expecting quite a lot of work from Lexus!

Sound like yours have been done well too. They look fantastic when clean and unblemished but its so easy to damage them.

You sure they been refurbed? Some Lexus dealers just change the wheels out and save the other ones until they get 4, repaint and then stick them on another car all the same colour

I've (unfortunately) had one of my F-sport alloys refurbished by Lexus Ipswich, and I too was impressed with the colour match.

The service manager did say the first one their guy did had been a struggle but that he'd done a few now.

Derby use Independent Wheel Repairers that have done a first class job in the past for me on my ISF which had a less glossy color combo than my 300h wheels!

The wheel color spec. is fixed & Lexus warrant the repair. Simple!

Anyone used Revive to repair their F-Sport wheels or the Sonic Titanium bodywork?   pics and what was involved?  did they have to send the wheels away or did they manage to do from their mobile van?

ive gone for 1H6 as possibly a close match

I thought 1H6 was bright silver?

Closest colour matching IS F Sport wheels is Nissan phantom grey code 1E3

Spoke to Revive who said they can pretty much match any colour in their mobile vans. They quoted similar to what Lexus would charge, who couldn't tell me who they use but might be good to see a repair from both Revice or similar compared to Lexus's.   The advice Revive gave me was to actually use the Lexus route as my car is on PCP and any repairs carried out that weren't too standard could be argued with a more favorable outcome.

If anyone has any pics of repairs they haven had done on their F-Sport wheels, and who repaired them for how much would be appreciated.

Just over a week till my F-Sport arrived!!!!   going a little stir crazy  waiting for it but can almost taste and smell the new car smell :w00t:

I don't have any pics but would only repeat what I've said in #7 above. The Insurer appointed a repairer who said the only way to make it as good as new was to take the wheel away and redo the the whole thing. This is because the wheel does not have a paint code and only by doing the whole wheel will I get a 100% match. I took the advice and that's what I got, a 100% perfect wheel which to my eye matched the other wheel on the same side.

When I then kerbed it again I waited until I'd kerbed another one and got them both done together. Yes, I was without a car for a couple or days or so but wanted a perfect result so was prepared to put up with it.

TBH you are in the hands of the operative wherever you have sourced the cover from, but I'd rather buy via the Lexus route.

Lucky the NX doesn't have low profiles!

Thanks @DJP I don't think I am going for wheel insurance after all as I imagine getting a wheel completely redone isn't covered under £100 which is the max SMART repair cost.

£100 will cover it easily. From memory I think mine were £80 each (if I was paying for them).

Can't believe it!!!

1 week and 2 days in to driving my brand new car I have curbed a rear wheel turning a corner at very low speed (obviously not paying attention to the angle I was turning in!!!!)   the damage is not severe but I am gutted it's happened so quickly.   I guess this is mild but still want to rectify it somehow.   I know this question has been asked but does anyone know where I can get get some touch up paint for the wheels?   even if it's not a exact match as it's on the edge of the wheel.

Might see if my Lexus dealer can help too but thought would ask here first.

No I didn't buy wheel cover as my dealer don't offer it and wasn't sure if the third party hrqwheel cover would actually be worth it.

To be honest the scuff isn't visible unless your looking for it but it bugs me it's there and don't want water to get in and splinter the area around the chipped surfwce. Even if it's not an exact colour match it must be better than leaving it exposed.

Spoke to my local dealer and they confirmed their isn't a touch up paint available for the F-Sport wheels but said they use a smart repairer so could take it over for a quote.

Half tempted to get some gun metal touch up this time..
