First Service Done...

Recommended Posts

First service done at Woodford lexus and what can I say. Fantastic experience from start to finish.

The dealership is very nice indeed, kindly welcomed and offered a drink while I wait. They currently look after 8 ISF's! so know them very well. One chap let one of the lexus staff borrow his for a weekend as he herd how much is son like them!

I was quoted £326 and that what it came to. Free safety check revealed new pads and discs probably needed at next service. Rest of the car was fine. Battery was fine, they replaced both key fob batteries free of charge, re-aligned the rear bumper free of charge (I had a slight bump), wheel skipping is expected on wheels of this size on full lock when reversing and was checked out.

I purchased extended warranty for 2 years which includes top of the range RAC breakdown cover. I think I will also purchase a service schedule as they give you 3 free MOT's with the deal.

They cleaned the car well as well. Very impressed. There is a chap who drives from Middlesbrough to Woodford green as the dealers up there are not familiar with the car!

Well done lexus. I was nervous to see how it would go being the first service but I am VERY happy.

They even quoted 175 fitted (each) for rear Bridgetone potenzas, Black circles have them at 220.

Nice!

Regarding replacing pads and discs, dealers are normally very eager to replace these for obvious reasons so I would have a second opinion before carrying the work. If you get them done through the dealer it may cost you almost £1K which is ridiculous.

How much did you pay for the extended warranty if you don't mind me asking? Last time I asked it was around £900/year.

£175 for rear tyres including VAT? That is extremely good value! Might take my car there when it needs them!

Extended warranty was approx 750 for a year or 1100 for 2 years. Was amazed it included breakdown cover of the level stated.

Getting rear tyres soon so will have second opinion on discs and pads. Was told rear discs had mild corrosion and pads at 70% worn.

£1100 is actually a fantastic deal considering it is a no hassle warranty, nice to know for when mine runs out.

Just to give you an example, a mate of mine replaced my break pads, I then took the car for servicing 4 months later and they told me they were 70% worn.... yeah right! Maybe if had driven 4 months on a track!

"Mild corrosion" again seems like your discs are fine and they just want an excuse to change them.

What is also useful about the breakdown cover that comes with the warrenty is that it covers you and your spouse in any car, whether it is a Lexus or not, and even if you are a passenger. At least that is what I understood when the dealer was telling me about it.

Glad to hear you were happy with the first service Stu. :)

Even more pleased you saved the car from getting a non-Lexus service done! ;)

The dealer was going to get 'a mate' to service it!!! GULP!

Tire prices seem very reasonable. I'd be looking for a good tuning shop to change the brakes. It's not rocket science, but you can buy the same parts and have them fitted for probably half the cost from Lexus I reckon.

Got a very good tuner in Enfield I use.
