thought id better say hello rather than just hiding in the back ground

just got myself a nice 2005, rx300 se-l with only 48k on it,

and at a nice price out of a main stream dealers

and very nice it is

its a second car for a bit luxury and for the wife

sold my ford ranger pickup to buy and now also have to buy myself a van as the pick up was also used for work

good to know theres a forum and hopefully may make a few meets should there be any up north

My first post too.

Just done exactly the same as you David 10 days ago-55 reg 300SEL from Lexus with 43K on the clock.Wouldn't class it as a 'bargain' as such but when you factor in the 12 months warranty (to buy with Warranty Direct is £560.00 for the year),the cambelts which needed doing on my previous car (£500) and RFL £200 a year less than what I was paying before on a 2.5v6 then for me it began to make more sense.And not a bad p/ex deal either.

Still working my way through the owners manual which is a task in itself.

Pretty well impressed up to now.

dont know much on the details, still waiting on the log book back from DVLC

got the issue with a crackling radio when the rear window demister is on so going to fit a DAB adapter,

few marks on the bodywork to sort out

can anyone confirm at what point the cambelt needs doing, dealer informed me it was 90k

but ive seen 72k or 6 years aswell

had my first proper run out in the car today, quality for sure 85mph on the motorway, smooth and quiet

cant find a downside to ownership yet

cambelt 10years or 100k whichever comes first (my understanding)

providing you use a genuine cambelt yes 100k can be run unlike the is200 model where 60k they start to shred out or even before'

thanks chaps, mind out at rest but will probale change the cam belt at some point next year anyway, as im fortunate enough to have access to some very good mechanics that dont cost the earth
