Hi Guys, my IS220 has started to knock (Flywheel Noise) when clutch is depressed it goes. question is how much will it cost me for the new clutch & flywheel? can i just change the flywheel as gears are not slipping, just the ticking noise from flywheel?

If you are to change the flywheel you would be crazy not to change the clutch at the same time while everything is off the car. If your flywheel is on the way out I bet the clutch is pretty worn also.

Be warned it's going to be expensive. Silly money at Lexus but expensive at an independent or normal garage also. Not 100% sure what it'll cost on a 220 but parts and labour will be a 4 figure sum. If I had to guess I'd say about £2.5-3k. I know a genuine flywheel, part only is £1400 and even cheaper brands on eBay etc are £700-800. Clutch around the £300 mark plus the labour :(

Here... This guy got the lot for about £1200

This guy got a flywheel for £800 from Lexus but that's not fitted. Maybe £1400 is the price fitted then. They also talk of using avensis parts

This guy thought the same as me and it would cost up to 3k

So I guess I was wrong up at 3k but it's still gonna be expensive. Still going to be four figures. There's a lot of info on this, do a search :)

£2k at lexus for replacement clutch and flywheel, mine was done about 3k ago. But worry not

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS220-D-2-2-D-LUK-CLUTCH-DUAL-MASS-FLYWHEEL-KIT-175-150-BHP-2-2D-IS-220D-/130972357253?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e7e8f9285

£1045 for a clutch and flywheel delivered and £150-200 for a local garage/mechanic to fit. Expensive yes, but surely that's not much more than what you would pay to replace a dmf and clutch on an Avensis?

You can buy a LUK clutch and flywheel kit from www.oscaro.com (French website) for 1055euro which is £870. Not sure what they would charge for delivery but it's worth a look. It's like the equivalent of eurocarparts, I use them quite often. If anyone wants to search flywheel is "Volant moteur", clutch kit is "kit d'embrayage"
