Rx350 Sel - Tow Bar Advice Needed

Hi,

I want to get a tow bar fitted to my 2006 RX350 SEL. I had booked TowBar Express but when the mechanic turned up he said he couldn't fit a tow bar on this model due to the self levelling suspension. I think it is because where the unit is mounted.

Can anyone recommend a mobile tow-bar fitter who may be able to help. I need the tow bar so that I can attached a 4 Bike carrier as I can't use a standard rear mounted carrier due to the spoiler.

Think yourself lucky, on the MB ML350 if you want to fit a tow bar it has to be fitted along with a "towing pack" which consists of a new cooling pack assembly (read Radiator, AC condensor, Fans) at a cost of around £2500......if you don't your warranty is void.

Have you tried Witter?

Scrub that...apparently not for the self levelling version hmmmm

Fitted a towbar myself to my 350sel. No problems with the self leveling at all so not sure why he got antsy. Think I used a witter it was the same as the one lexus use but way cheaper.

If you are having a towbar fitted by an indy or doing it yourself it's worth checking the clearance for the spare wheel. See my post on http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83063-things-to-check/?hl=towbar#entry827736 !!!!!

Tow bar express were wrong,the tow bar fits all the RX range up 2009.

I will only use a westfaila detachable bar with 13pin, a little bit more expensive maybe but far superior to others and I would recommend dedicated electrics also ,so u end up with a like for like as you would get from a Lexus main dealer.

Cost me around 700 but dealer wanted around 1300. This was done in Hull so you might find a price difference down in the capital.

Call Westfaila on 01785 226 888 and find a few authorised fitters near you.
