Hi Everyone,

I would just like advice if possible on aftermarket DMF's / Clutches. Mine are on their last legs so I am looking for replacements. I have seen the D4D 2.2 Avensis part which I have been told fits, but not sure about the quality of non-genuine Toyota / Lexus parts. Obviously there's a huge saving, and I am thinking of getting rid of the car in maybe 6 Months, so maybe a better option? I would try and hold out but I don't think it will!!

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Are you sure the avensis one fits? I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that it doesn't fit? LUK is the best make apparently for this replacement. You can get the clutch kit with DMF on eBay for £1045. Have a look at some of the old threads, there was recently a good thread with quite a lot of info.

Another stupid unneccesary design idea, certain to fail, and replacement prices are a rip off for the owner.

Not just Lexus, a friend and I replaced one for a solid one on a BMW Z3 last Sunday.

The best of a bad idea was a solid replacement kit for £299, make Valeo.

Even included all new bolts.

Someone on eBay is offering a solid one, lightweight custom made, for £500 .

[Not including the plate etc]

If it was my car I would go for this,[ if it's for the right model] if you go original DMF it will fail again!

They fit dual mass flywheel for a number of reasons, to protect the gearbox from too much torque, reduce vibration, they are quieter etc etc.

Another dual mass flywheel should last the remaining life of the car unless it fails really early. I suppose it comes down to if you think your going to keep the car for another 100k miles.

I'm not convinced!

In fifty years I've never heard noise from a flywheel unless it was damaged.

Clutch and gearbox should be designed to stand the stresses in the first place.

As you can see from the prices it's likely to be a four figure money spinner.
