Help Please! Problems With My Ls430

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I recently purchased a high milage LS430 (249k miles) for £3k.(might have been a little too much to pay.. May be .?)

Anyways it has full history etc etc and is in good condition.

A few days ago I was unfortunately involved in an accident. Not so serious. The damage is to the front passenger headlight, wing, and bumper and may be 1 or 2 sensors.

After the accident I have noticed that my brake lights stay on. when I lock the car, then after a minute they turn back on again. What do you think is the problem?

In addition, I have noticed that the rear passenger suspension might be malfunctioning. The distance between the tyre and the body is smaller in comparison to the other sides. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Do you think it's all related to the accident that I had?

The insurance company will be sending an assessor to check out the car on Monday. Do you think I should mention these problems to him/her?

So the current problems I am facing are:

1) brake lights stay on

2) passenger side rear suspension is malfunctioning (this is the side that also sustained damage in the accident)

Many thanks

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they are going to write it off. Since the insurance company are involved I wouldn't worry about the lights or suspension. I'd be worrying about the pay out.

They will write it off for definite, the rear suspension will cost you £300 but you will need to change both rear sensors, but your will be a write no doubt about that. Sorry, did you buy the car from a friend of mine called Steven in Derbyshire sides?

OR you could ask them to re-instate you to the position you was in just prior to the accident and they might pay out what you have just paid for the car .................... otherwise it will be a battle to get best CAP value from those thieving bastards.

Hi , sorry to hear about your accident . The insurers will def write the car off as the repair will be to much in relation to its value , if it was only a slight bump and you know a good body shop , you could ask to keep the salvage , as it would only be a cat d write off.

Your rear lights being on could be accident related as could be the suspension drop . possibly failure of the ride height sensor. what was your reg if you dont mind me asking

Get the car reinstated to the condition it was in before the accident providing you aren't at fault for the accident, that's what we pay insurance for not to give the insurance companies the easiest and cheapest way out for them Mike

Hi

Yes I did. His name was Steven. A very nice guy to deal with.

So sad my carpet ride was so short-lived.

The assessor came today to inspect the vehicle. He took pictures and notes. See what happens.

I'll keep you posted on developments. But I seriously have a feeling it'll be written off. I just hope my payout is decent if it comes to that.

Any ideas on what a 2004 (53 plate) Ls430 is actually worth? Full meticulous history. 1 owner. 248k miles. Beautiful green/gray color. Grey leathers. I would give it 8/10 condition rating for interior and exterior condition...?

that was my ls430 i part ex'd at lexus nottingham , ( I owned it seven years , 2nd owner ) that is such a shame you had the bump , as you could tell it was well looked after , the only reason I changed was because it was 10year old. Despite the age and mileage , if they gave you all the service history etc , use that with the insurers when they give you a value as that car wanted for nothing and was serviced every 5 months etc etc , hope you get a good outcome ( gutted for you )

Yes indeed well looked after. I'm still using it now cz it's still solid but a tad unsightly due to the headlight.

May end up buying it back because it's been looked after so well.

It's a green/grey colour. A very gentleman colour I would say

this is not that one , it is green . If your still driving it buy the salvage from them and get it repaired - had the wheels been refurbed before you bought it ? when I traded it , it needed the wheels refurbing , one of the rear bearings was just starting to make a noise and it needed a 250,000 service - Man I loved that car - would have kept it if it was feesable - but the 600hl is just as awesome

Yes it is green. It is probably the one that you had. The alloys are in need of refurbishment and yes I have replaced the rear bearing and serviced it when I got it.

I spent nearly £800 on it in the first week to fully get up to scratch.

Did you get it serviced at Japex? If so would it be possible for you to get hold of the service history print outs for me? It will help me greatly if it goes through the write off route..
