Maintenance Intervals Checklist

Recommended Posts

For those of us who service their own cars, I'm trying to gather the intervals for maintaining different things on the IS250. I've listed the ones I know, and the ones I dont know the intervals for too so someone kind advise. If i've missed anything too, it will be nice to add to the list so other IS250 members can use it as a checklist.

  • The Usual Oil and Filter Changes every 10k or 12months
  • Air and Pollen filter (I change them every year as they are cheap anyway)
  • Spark Plugs every 60k Miles
  • Coolant after 100k thereafter every 50k miles
  • Rear differential fluid - ??? not sure at what intervals this should be done
  • Front differential fluid - ??? not sure at what intervals this should be done
  • Brake fluid change - ??? not sure at what intervals this should be done
  • Air conditioning clean and recharge - ??? not sure at what intervals this should be done

Have I missed anything?

It would be good for someone to post the location of each item on the schedule to check (with pictures) and possibly what problems to look for - might get round to this when I have time in the summer...

Hope this covers everything

I had this from Lexus in the USA

I can see the sense in changing the oil every 6 months - depends on how many miles doing and how you are driving it - the checks - brakes / discs etc I am guessing is something they do but no hassle to give them a quick look.

Whats missing from this is the spark plug intervals and the caliper slider pin checks...

IS200 Newbie, yes the american service manuals for the IS250 have a less miles interval but in Europe the service manual says 10k Miles. Which i followed as per manufacturers requirements until 150k, after that started doing my own service and i think i'll do oil changes around every 7k miles instead of 10k.

Err... what about transmission oil? :zee:

The transmission is a sealed unit, the only time ATF needs changing is if you have to drain fluid to do some work like replace solenoids etc. Even that will not replace the entire ATF only a small portion of it.

From the Lexus European service manual.

Spark plug replacement - every 60k. (see note)

Brake fluid - recommended interval is 2 years.

Trans fluid - Nomal use, no scheduled maintenance. Severe usage (e.g. urban driving, towing, mountainous driving) replace every 6 years.

Diff oil - Replace every 4 years

note - I changed mine at 70k and they showed very little wear, I'd suggest 100k or 120k as a reasonable interval, given the high cost of the plugs, risk of damage to the alloy head, difficulty of the job and need for replacing numerous gaskets as part of disassembly.

Sorry for digging this out, but is it not rather:

Lexus Europe: 10.000km

vs

Lexus USA: 5,000 mls

Would make sense; or it could be we use here in Europe a better quality of life juice for the engine.

I change mine at 8,000km. Even if the oil is good quality, the condition of the car, as well as how you drive it will have different effects on it.

Regardless, no mechanical component has broken down due to frequent oil changes, so its better to change it earlier rather than later.

I did my oil change in December when I got the car and already nearing the 6000mls 😂

Did set the oil and oilfilter service thing in the BC.

Despite working from home, I drive on average 1000mls a month... back in the days when I commuted to work I was between 2500 and 3000mls a month 🤪
