I'd take it to a Kwik-Fit centre and get them to plug it into their regas unit, that will tell them (and you) if you have a leak or just low gas pressure (or too high).

Ignore the nay sayers about Kwik-Fit..........all the air-con machines do exactly the same job and they are all automatic, all the fitter has to do is connect it up and type in your car model, the machine does the rest.

I wouldn't get them to change a tyre though :D

will get it booked in and take it from there just didn't want to get ripped of with the talk of 'yeah it needs gassing'and it didn't thankyou all

Last year they were doing a "if we cannot get a drop in temperature" promise then you didn't have to pay anything for the service/check. So I'd have a word with them first and see if they still promise that, I got a BMW regassed for nothing when the temp wouldn't drop below the 6C coming out when they measured it before the service. Worth every penny

Now and again Kwik-Fit do promotions on certain tyres, I got my first set of Pirelli Zero Scorpions on the RX300 for about £600 instead of the £700 they were asking for elsewhere.

I should not have commented........last Friday we went out for a longish drive in the lovely hot weather and noticed the AC was not keeping the car as cool as we would have liked, sure enough upon measuring the pressure back at home the gas was down to just over 27 psi which is getting low and was confirmed by foam rather than bubbles in the sight glass, unfortunately we were going away Sunday morning and the forecast was hot, hot, hot so tried to book it into a Kwik-Fit as before but failed to get a booking for Saturday morning, I then tried Halfruads local auto centre and I must say they were very good, squeezing me in first thing Sat morning and seemingly carried out a first class job for £49 all in (gas/oil/dye) with a computer print out of the gas amount filled.

No guarantee of colder air or your money back like Kwik-Fit but they did a good job.

Thats excellent news, I wish I had had the time on Saturday for a bit of shopping around, but it had to be done before going away and there was just a few hours window.

Good to hear your now back with the ranks of the cool cats :zee:

No.......never.......ever.........not even considered it. Probably fine for the driving school Fiesta, but I'd never take any car of mine to a "quickie" outfit for a general service, it's going to look really nasty in the service book let alone any special tools that need using that they do not possess.

I always look for a local (if possible) marque specialist for servicing.......unless of course you want a main dealer stamp in the book, but quite frankly I have found specialists tend to be more enthusiasts than just main dealer spanner monkeys and after year four/five it matters not much in the service book for most normal buyers, just as long as it's been serviced as required with proof.
