Dimmer Light

Hello,

is it possible to turn off the dimmer light from the sat nav screen.

In Italy we must keep the car lights on during the day and the sat-nav screen become nearly invisible.

Sounds like a fault - the SatNav backlight has its own sensor - it shouldn't go into night mode just becauase the lights are on (doesn't on my GS anyways)

Not completely sure what you mean by a "dimmer light" most lights make things brighter not dimmer.

There is a setting for brightness. You have to go through the main menu.

When you turn the headlights on, the screen goes dimmer because it assumes it is night and already dark inside the cab.

On my IS, it needs to be dark as well as the lights being on for it to dim. Are the sensors at the top of the dash working? Turn your lights on auto and move your hand over them - the headlights should switch on. If not, it may be worth asking at your dealer.

Another way would be to put a switch inline with the light feed to the satnav, so it wouldn't be automatic - you would have to switch it to dim. I'm not sure which pin it is as it's not labelled on the diagram but just meter each lead while switching the lights on and off - you'll find 12 on it with the lights on. At the risk of being obvious, it won't be on the video signal lines which are sheathed with a braid (5 of them together)

or simply turn off the night mode..

go into the menu wher you adjust the contrast,brightness etc. and you will see Daylight moe ON/Off..
