Little Noise

Hi guys... i've found a little noise i can describe it like a little vibration "vrrrrrrrrrrrr" anly at precine number of engine RPM and only in particoular kind of tarmac....

Is seems like it goes behind the radio.... i've to check better ....

anyone had this little problem?

Yup, me too... Just as you've described, the rattle seems to come from behind or inside the console. At times it sounds like it could be the windscreen vibrating or a piece of trim inside or under the console.

Yes, it seems to happen at certain RPM. This could be stationary, with brake applied (it is auto). Or in drive at the moment just before or as you apply some throttle and then when the revs increase it disappears.

I haven't really investigated it as such, as it's hard to apply the foot brake and look under the bonnett or on top the console!

The car's due it's 40k service soon, actually just passed 39k so will put it in soon and see what they can find.

I get it too. It's at it's loudest at exactly 3000rpm.

Seems to happen when it's colder outside, and is only really noticeable when accelerating slowly.

I know this might sound daft, but have you checked the speedo glass(plastic) aint loose??

Same here (rattling or as though something loose is resonating) although it sounds as though it's coming from behind the instrument panel (car is LHD). Mine is with S/C and HKS hyper muffler, so after 3000RPM the noise is completely "muffled". Also the warmer the engine gets, the noise reduces. If I step on the gas for a while then the noise disappears completely. Car has 60k kmeters (abt 37k miles) and will go for service next week. Guess we'll see then.

After 3 month i love my IS!!! :D

I've cheked to find the noise. In my lexy i can head it from 1500 to 2000-2500 rpm max. It's lika a "GRRRRRRRR" then i've found another little problem. The leather gear scuff (when it's cold) makes a little noise... I think because my shifter lever has little vibration when i accelerate. But this kind of noise is very little.

I've tried to remove the documents box (in front of the passenger seat) and i havn't heard the noise.... but i'm not able to understand where this noise is generated!!!

Manifold heat shield ? Mine jingles a bit when cold.
