Lexus Gs 300 1999 Buzzing Sound When Braking

Is been a while since I posted my first thread about this problem. Despite several visits to local garages not one of them can pin point the actual fault.

All seem to say that its the abs unit at fault even though there are no fault lights , and more over I cannot get a second hand one from anywhere.

Am taking to a new garage tmrw which I have been reliably informed is very reputable and with a good understanding of diagnostics.

In the event it is my abs unit? Is it poss to get them reconditioned or repaired??

Feel like scrapping the car as it has been dragging on so long now.

it should be possible for a garage to monitor the speed sensors when driving to see which one is causing a problem. Or use an oscilloscope to monitor that actual sensor signals. Your problem just sounds like a poorly fitted or faulty speed sensor.

Unfortunately this sounds like the fairly common and expensive problem with the electronic brake module.

The series II GS doesn't use a conventional vacuum brake servo but a complicated high pressure nitrogen system to apply braking effort.

when that happens though you get the warning lights and buzzer and you don't get an ABS feel on the brake pedal. The symptoms just sounds like a faulty/misaligned speed sensor triggering the ABS rather than a failure with the brake accumulator/pump.

Many thanks for the replies. To keep you updated with current state of affairs.... Gave the car to another garage who after checking again seemed to suggest that problem lay in the brake module /abs unit.

So after much trying managed to get a second hand unit from a local jap breaker who assured me all was ok, however when changed the same sound and symptoms persisted but with a new twist....the car now has a misfire which is very evident when cold but seems to lessen as car heats up.

Is it possible to be related to the brake module change or is it just coincidence that this has happened. When driving the power seems a little less on the power and has misfired from the exhaust ( popped) at least a couple times.

I am just wondering if they have disconnected a plug /sensorby mistake .would changing the brake/ abs unit have any link to that.

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse. Any info on reputable Lexus specialists in the West Midlands would be highly appreciated.

Thanks once again from a very fed up and confused Lexus owner
