Well that started some chat. I spoke to Lexus yesterday (Croydon), basically told him what happened, but said I haven't had time to mess around yet but will at the weekend. However, I did ask what could be done if there really is a problem and he said nothing, but that was probably just the wrong answer to my question and I'll get a better one if I have to talk to them again. BUT, he didn't mention anything about this auto locking business which I haven't tested yet either. He did say that he'd heard it happen to BMW's and Audi's but never Lexus's.

Is the definitive answer to Does the new RX300 lock itself after approx 30secs if I turn off the engine and get out of the car and slam the door - YES??

Can you imagine now this weekend I'll be stationed outside my Lex with a stopwatch in one hand, mobile phone in the other and keys on the ground so I don't accidentally hit them, calling to someone to phone my mobile after the 30 seconds is up, and presumably I'll have to try this in several scenarios. I'll be wasting minutes this weekend!!!!

Also when I spoke to Lexus about this, they asked for a contact telephone number. I said I'll give you my mobile...... obviously thought better of it :D

My new model RX300 is left in a locked garage overnight with key out and doors unlocked. Not once has it been locked in the morning. 4 or 5 different mobiles are in use nearby. If the car is sitting locked and is unlocked with the zapper but a door is not opened then it will relock within 30 seconds. Annoying sometimes if you unlocked it to fill the boot but didn't get it open in time. But still a feature I prefer to have. :)

I've been thankful of this feature a couple of times now....

..was coming out of a shop,a mate saw me and called, by this time i had already approached and unlocked

the car,spent 10mins chatting away went back to the car and it was locked,so it can be a useful feature.

keyless entry on the LS430 is not prone to any foibles... so far

If I see people walking past it at night though, now I will be seeing who is on the phone!
