Took my wagon for it's MOT and failed for the first time ever. Soon fixed the problem and passed on retest. Annoying, but impressive when thinking the car is almost 15 years old.

But I got thinking and perhaps a wise head here knows the answer. MOT certs are all electronic nowadays. If I were to fail at one garage, could I just drive round the corner to the next and test there without the first knowing? Do garages look up certs?

It probably will come up and you would be paying for your mot twice if you tried to do it that way won't you

Yes, IF it comes up and that's the question. We all know most garages find faults so punters get them to fix them. Only the council MoT garages do an unbiased job

I think you are wrong Smiler to say MOST garages find faults! Reputable garages will be just as unbiased as council MOT centres.

Yer, ok, I was probably being unfair. I've retested cars before to find the testers have found different faults but I suppose the leeway testers have can be pretty wide for subjective areas.
