IS200 Warranty

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I was just wondering what the deal is with the UK Lexus warranty?

When I mod my car, will the whole warranty be invalidated, or will just individual parts be affected? e.g. if I change the exhaust for the HKS Hiper, will it just invalidate the warranty on the exhaust?

Cheers boyz (and UV)

Hi,

Dont know what the score with the exhaust is, but I rang lexus UK the other day to ask them if lowering my car will invalidate the warranty. They came back to me with....'If it is a direct result of that part being fitted then, yes!' So i said ' so if one of my shock absorbers go then it wont be covered because ive lowered the car & if my engine packed in then I would covered still?' the reply was 'Correct!'

As the exhaust is connected to the engine, id bet it would invalidate the warranty...why dont you ring them?

Hi guys, I got an e-mail back from Margret Davenport at Lexus UK today, and this is the official view of Lexus UK on modifications:

"Further to our telephone conversation recently regarding modification to your

IS200 Sport I have now spoken to Technical and Warranty departments. As I said

initially, Lexus do not recommend any modifications to their vehicles, but in

any instance of an alteration it will only affect the warranty

if a problem arises directly from the changes you have made. In which case that

particular part or parts will not be covered, and any work related to that will

be chargeable."

Modifying it is then!

:lol::bounce::tumble::yes::yes:

basically they have to prove that the malfunction was a direct result of the modification.............so in my case, if my engine failed they would have to prove it was a direct result of having a supercharger fitted

with shock absorbers its the same thing........they have to prove that lowering the car caused the the shocks to fail...........and as there having premature failure of some shocks would be a hard one for them to call............

I got the same info from my dealer mechanic, it relates to the part fitted.

As Matt says, if you broke a conrod they can't blame the backbox!!

Have fun modifying:D
