Turbo Lag

Hi all just picked up my 220d, it's lovely, just not too happy with the severe turbo lag in comparison to other TD's I have had. I have seen about getting a tuning box, but does it eliminate it? Also seen about this sprint booster? Can anyone advise what best to get as at the mo it's the only thing ruining an otherwise lovely car.

Thanks

I know exactly what you mean I hate the turbo lag especially after having a petrol before! i looked at a race chip, one in Germany think it was around £220 but i believe that Toyota actually do one as well? Where did you get the sprint booster from and how much?

I honestly think that the sprintbooster or racechips throttle resonse device (they both do the same thing) are the best mod for the lexus is220d.

It smooths out the dodgy gearchange between 1st n 2nd and also helps with the low down hesitation.

All that these things really do,in simple terms ,is press the accelerator down slightly for you all the time but the difference it makes to the driving experience is very noticeable.

That's fair enough I'll have a look at that closer

To the time, I need lowering springs first for when I fit my brand new rota torques as the arch gap is dreadful!

It's quite easy to remove turbo lag - apply higher revs (1500-1800) and release clutch slower - wear will go up, but not by a big amount (talking about less than 2%, as it doesn't get anywhere near the temperature for burning).

I have been doing that for a year now, and no issues, with lag non-existent.

the best known way is to increase fuel and make the boost waste gate actuator not get active by shimming it or controlling the vacuum lines to waste gate. I don't know much about 220d but that's how it's done. Any other methods are placebo.

If properly done the car will just go wild and a huge improvement will be seen not just felt.
