Oem Wheel Colour Code

Looking to get my wheels refurbished, spoke to a wheel refurber and told them about the Toyota 1E3 colour code. Apparently there's 5 shades of 1E3 and if I want the wheels done in this colour id need to buy the paint myself for them to carry out the work.

I've been in contact with their paint supplier and said they can put a camera on the wheel to find the right colour mix and can mix it on site and would costs £36 for a litre.

Anyone have successfully refurbed their wheels in the OEM colour?

You really need to get it spot on as well. Stands out a mile if it's not quite right. I've looked at so many ISF's and been disappointed by the non original wheel colour.

My car had clearly had the front wheels repaired and whilst the shade of colour looked right, the sheen and glass like shine of the originals was missing. Difficult to reproduce, I would imagine.

Its a nightmare trying to find the paint code!!! Even the Lexus dealer i bought mine from couldn't get it.

Bitten the bullet and having all four stripped, repaired, resprayed and laquered the moment, get the car back on tuesday.

Bodyshop seem fairly confident that whilst they cant match the exact paint code they will be able to reproduce the mirror/crome look.

We'll see what happens and i'll post some pics up next week

I'm in the process of getting a second set of wheels. When I do I will probably get my originals repaired and powder coated, rather than painted, as I think powder coating is more durable.

Very few seem to have original colour due kerbing repairs and flaking. As long as the colour suits the car I don't see it being an issue if it's not an exact factory match.

I prefer being able to choose my own colour...the oem ones are nice but for me personally the Wheel Specialist have some fantastic finishes available. Saves all the grief about trying to colour match them.

Had this problem with my RX. No matter what anyone says let me emphasise that "THERE IS NO OFFICIAL LEXUS F-SPORT WHEEL COLOUR CODE". In actual fact, they mix 2 colours together in the factory but its probably one of the most well kept secrets.

Only option is to do all 4 wheels together, or get the 2 done on one side. Stockport did 2 of mine on one side and you'd never notice.

The wheels don't have a Toyota colour code because they aren't painted by Toyota, they come from their OEMs. 1E3 should always be the same, there certainly shouldn't be 5 shades, however it is a body colour not a wheel colour.

are they also ceramic rather than metal?

I need to get mine done as I've made a real mess of them.

The wheels are made by BBS, but neither BBS in the UK or USA seem aware of this (so assume it must be a Japanese subsidiary) and said in any case they would not release the paint colour code or supply any touch-up paint. In fact they were completely unhelpful and ignored enquiries unless pressed.

For tiny scratches and slight kerb/rim scrapes, Gloss black touch-up from Halfords barely shows - or at least looks better than exposed bright metal on these nearly black wheels.

Yep the wheels were made by BBS and the brakes by brembo.

As for my wheels I really struggle to understand what they are made of. Today after a short trip one of my back wheels has a ding on the edge of the alloy. Too small for a scuff and I know I didn't kerb it whilst out driving so all I can think of is that something loose on the road flew up and dinged it. I know it wasn't there earlier in the week when I cleaned the car and I have a 6th sense about an alloy damage on my car.
