Guys, i'm trying to find some photo's of the IS200 that raced in (i think) 1999/2000 British touring car championships, i seem to remember there was only one car in the team, it was black and unfortunately never done that well.

Can anyone suggest a web sit where i might find some information,

cheers Bob.

I just looked at one of Aido's links above, and read the following:

2 litre, 4 cylinder, 16 valve.

Double overhead camshaft, mounted longitudinally.

From Japanese market.

270 bhp @ 8500rpm.

So I guess its an Altezza not an IS!

I got loads of pics of the car, i went to most BTCC races that year and got some good photos. It was a fine looking car, but it was the only rear wheel drive car on the grid and it took alot longer to get heat into the rear tyres than the fronts on the others so it struggled at the start of races. Coupled with some bad luck and some dubious driving at times it didn't do too well, but it got on the podium a couple of times if I remember.

I will post the pics in the gallery later.

Altezza 1 0 is200

:P :P :P

whats your problem with the is200.........

the engine is far better for the market its used in, the is200 is overall a better car spec wise.

its wearing a tad thin that everypost regarding an altezza or is200 you have to add a comment regarding how better an altezza is...there the same car, just different engines

rant over

In its first season it beat the Vauxhalls and Pegeouts.........in the selling of merchandise. :P

It was the only rear wheel drive in the series, looked great on the track though

shame they could'nt get enough heat in the front tyres.

Bring back the RS500's.............

Cheers guys some useful information, just need a good A4 size photo to print off ( can i say that :whistling: ).

The Lexus was the only car from the Toyota stable worth watching a few years back, well not since the Carina E days, when the late Will Hoy was top Toyota driver.

So going by one of the sites posted above the IS200 could be back racing in 2004, if so that great news :)

Quote.......

"We believe the latest 2004 incarnation of the Lexus IS200 Touring Car has been penned and resolves all the problems found with the original. The car is lighter, more powerful, with a sorted chassis and better aerodynamics. Let's hope we get to see it in the 2004 BTCC season in the condition it was always intended to be in. Fit and ready to go!"

If they do start racing again, i hope they get to my local circuit ( Brands Hatch) and i'll go and support them :D .
