Do Not Sell My Personal Information Jump to content

I have just bought a 1990 LS400, but the remote locking doesn't work. ( Seller told me it needed a new Battery...)

It turns out that some plonker has drilled a hole through the corner of the key ( and through the PCB inside ) and threaded the keyring through it.

As luck has it, the damage is not to the programmed IC inside. ( The dealers tell me I need a master key - £154 , a new ECU as my key doesn't work £600+ plus labour for programming !!) I don't think so!

Does anyone know where I can get a second hand key ( written off car maybe? ) so I can use it as a PCB donor to transplant the IC onto?

Has anyone else been through this?

All help appreciated.

I had a problem with a key and it was sorted out very cheaply, the guy had to re-code my security and tracker etc for the new key to work. Located near Chester, has a mobile service, if you send me an E mail I'll supply his details. Hope this helps. Mikel

To MikeL near Chester or anyone else who knows. I could do with the name of that mobile service for keys and re-programming - I have Japan import LS400 Gold Badge with only one key - no remote and Lexus UK say they can't help!
