Is the *nitrous* something they did in the "Fast & the Furious"? :o

What is it exactly?

Nitrous oxide incorrectly also called NOS( nitrous oxide systems) after the lagest nitrous kit company.

it was originally used in world war 2 by the piston powered fighter aircraft to give moments of extra power but due to the development of the gas turbine engine by Sir Frank Wittle it became obsolete, until that is it was used in races to enhance the power of cars.

Nitrous oxide has this power boosting effect because it has a higher percentage of oxygen content than atmosphere. Nitrous has 36% oxygen by weight and the atmosphere has 20%. Additionally, nitrous oxide is 50% more dense than air at the same pressure. Thus, a cubic foot of nitrous oxide contains approx 2.5 times as much oxygen as a cubic foot of air. so more oxygen a bit more fuel = a lot more power.

sorry for the long post! :P:D

Any more news on this???

Doesnt NOS bugger up your engine? I thought it was an 'occasional' use item...always thought about it but then realised that I would be too tempted to keep pressing the button!!! So thought better of it!
