New to this site having only bought my Lexus a couple of months ago. I have a Lexus 220d (58 plate) and the last couple of days have noticed grinding, as if the brakes are sticking on, or problem with the bearings.....just wondered if this is a common fault or just wear and tear? Also if anyone could recommend a place for repair - in or around Manchester???

This could be a seized or sticking brake calliper but you will have noticed some drag when you try to move the car, rather like the handbrake is not fully released. I have a 220D and the front wheel bearing hubs were noisy. whilst changing the front discs and pads I changed the front hubs. It is not difficult and parts are freely available from the net. example below.

Hi Andy,

I'm just wondering if you've managed to sort it out and what the actual problem was.

My IS250 is producing a grinding noise from the rear, but I don't think it would be the calipers as usually you would get overheating and feel that the car has the handbrake which is not happening in my Lexus at the minute.

Just wondering whether it needs the brake pads replacing.

Thanks

Had this problem on mine just before christmad. One caliper slider pin had siezed previously causing the pad to only be used one side until metal was hit. Causing a constant grinding sound. The inner pad was on metal and the outer pad was on about 5/6mm.
