its a feature of the upgraded forum software.

no - its OK mate - everyone has one - its just that everyone can only see their own.

I suppose its more useful on some of the really confrontational boards on the 'net - I frequent a few forums that need this sort of software, ones were everyone is always fighting, always being trolled etc.

don't think its going to see much use over here mate

Oh dear...i better behave myself or i can see the highlighted bars going down and then i will get a warning i suppose

Still its an indication how far one can go without going over the edge :P

ok its a new feature but what does it tell us?

every user has a warning level.

moderators can warn users, and it is possible to apply measures such as suspend posting rights etc.

The upgrade has been done because we need to take advantage of (some of) these new features.

Warnings get thrown in with the mix.

its not a big deal

there is no sinister reason behind this.

We have upgraded the forum software, because this version has several advantages;

1 - supports full text indexing. I have applied several changes to the database which will speed up the search.

2 - quick reply boxes. I shall turn these on soon. They allow users to reply to a post, which needing to refresh the page (this makes the forums quicker, reduces the server load and bandwidth consumption)

3 - supports the integration of the garage.

4 - I will be able to make the location mandatory at signup - but need to migrate the existing location first.

5 - removes several vulnerabilities that were present in the old software. This makes the forums more secure.

6 - the database tables have been optimised, which will hopefully speed up the forums generally.
