Meguiars Nxt Range

Oh well fellas - I've seen that the Meguiars 3 Stage worked wonders on my car when done by hand, so now I'm going to try the NXT wax products...

I only heard about these after Imi mentioned the Zaino Brothers products which are supposed to be the dogs danglies and this is supposed to be Meguiars answer to the Zaino range - and it's available in the UK too.

I'll update this thread with pics etc when the stuff turns up - could be >5 days though which is a bummer.

The NXT stuff is supposed to look very good after the 4th or 5th application so will be interesting to see what it looks like after the 1st go....

In case you're wondering what Zaino is, this is the sort of result you'll get:

Now forget the quality of the shine but check out the quality of the bird looking at it - if I get results like that I'll be happy :winky:

Aido,

this NXT stuff, is it a pure wax that be allpied all at once and wiped or a cleaning polish/wax (panel at a time)?

Reason why I ask.

NXT claims to remove fine scratchs for a flawless finish... surely a real pure wax, would just refect? just like Gold Class.

And can it be that much better then Gold Class????

It's supposed to be a cleaning wax from what I've read.

It's not carnuba based either, it's polymers and all that kind of thing - supposed to be great after a few coats have been applied as you layer it and it gets deeper with each layer.

I've had a few hours spare this afternoon so have been all around the car with the Stage 1 Maguiars and only applied the Stage 2 polish & then the Gold Class wax on the bonnet - not a bad result at all! To be honest the rest of the car looks pretty damned well and there's no polish or wax on it at all! I'd forgotten just how good that stage 1 was - it's removed a lot of the crappy looking swirls I'd put down last time I cleaned it (it's amazing how much difference the towel quality makes - I'm sticking with the Meguiars terry towels after seeing the difference between them and the chea po ones I got from Halfords.

And is it just me or does the stage 1 get much easier after the very first time you've done it - it took hours last time but this time I just did the whole car and it just wiped clean off with hardly any effort?!

I left the Gold Class for about 90 minutes to dry on the bonnet and it came up pretty well - could even see the reflection of a plane flying overhead so it must be shiny!

..: Edit :..

Oh & Raz, I've just been reading about on the net and some people get great results just by washing, claying, and then applying the NXT, whereas others are saying that it works better if they polish couple of times before applying the NXT - guess it's all relative so I'll see how it works and will report back to you guys!

Definitely get the 3 stage if you haven't already got it - for £20 you definitely can't go wrong mate, I thought I'd trashed my paintwork by using a cheapo towel the other day and the 1st stage has pretty much got it all sorted again within 30 minutes - going to do it again at the weekend just to make sure.

Picked everything up from the Post Office this morning, will be giving it a go this weekend and will compare it to the Deep Crystal 3 Stage and the Gold Class stuff...

The applicator pad is crazy - think neon green on one side and purple on the other - very strange choice!

If it rains though I'm knackered!!!

It's on!

Washed the car, polished with the Stage 2 stuff and then applied the NXT Tech Wax - the car only had the stage one a week ago so I didn't do it again - I used a clay bar on a couple of parts of the car that needed it though (some :tsktsk: bird has **** acid on the car and it needs T-Cutting where the paint has bubbled thumbdown.gif)

The NXT Tech Wax applied really easily and comes off just as easy - all in all it was on the car about 45 minutes before I wiped it all off with the Megs Polishing cloth..

Was much easier to remove than the Stage 3 Carnauba stuff, and probably a bit easier than the Gold Class wax too...

Hasn't come up too shabby - here's a couple of pics:

Will apply the next couple of waxes soon to start building up the layers but it looks promising thumbup.gif

..:: Edit ::..

Forgot to say, the swirls do seem do have gone a bit more but I'm getting a polisher to get rid completely - seems to have done a better job than the standard 3 stage and the Gold Class but I'm putting that down to doing the Stage 1 & 2 as well as using this which is supposed to be a cleaner wax.. From most angles though it just looks like a big wet puddle - but angles can be seen in direct sunlight from some angles so it still doesn't get rid completely - that's where the polisher comes in though....

Great thread this one, one that I have a particular interest in.

More specifically on my last car (Escort Cosworth), but still to a certain extent on my current, I am manic for cleaning it (my Escort mainly because it was a weekend car, so was great to clean while it was in the garage not being used!). For 5 years I have been pure Autoglym guy, and then at a show I overheard a guy talking about Meguiars. At MPH03 last year there was a Meguiars stand, and I thought sod it, I'll get some (even though it will mess up the look of my garage.....EVERYTHING's white bottle with coloured square, or tin with writing :)). Anyhow, I got the gold class wax (with the little circular sponge applicator pad).

I used it yeesterday for the first time. My garage is out of commision at the moment, so Saturday night (having spent all day cleaning the car.....wheels etc) I parked it in my underground car park at work and walked home. Walked back sunday morning in the blazing sun to a cool, shaded, perfect-for-waxing car!!!!

It looked rather good.......and I will take some pictures at lunch time (though over night it got damp and so I may have to give it a quick rub ;)).

I was very impressed with how easily the wax came off - it was a dream to use. It was perfect waxing conditions under that car park though, which obviously helped.

So what's this 3-stage thing you guys are on about. I assume it's three different substances which are applied to your car? From some of the pictures shown, the cars look lovely, so it seems it works!?!

I'd recommend it in conjunction with the stage 1 & 2 products, wouldn't really bother with the 3rd stage or Gold Class as the NXT should do a similar job anyway... Don't honestly know if they'd layer or mix properly?

If it's nice Thursday might do another coat of NXT since I now know I won't be driving across France til the day after (just need to get this bloody work sorted out now!!!!!)

Oh and yes Tony, I got this from www.speeding.co.uk - have bought a fair bit of cleaning stuff from them now and very happy with it all (the clay bar is probably the crappest bit though!!!)

Hi

I have light swirl marks on my black Lexus.

I am a bit confused as to which of your products combinations will best deal with the problem.

Scratch X, Stage 2 Deep Polish & Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax

Or

Stage1 Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Stage 2 Deep Polish and Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax

Or

Stage 2 Deep Polish & Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax

Many Thanks
