Thats correct, theres two different types as the seller mentions.

one has a smaller and bigger plug, and one has two similar sized plugs. I think.

ha ha i knew you were gonna say that, i have big little too. i assumed they would be all the same. just thought the numbers were serial numbers!

hang on before i panic too much, i only want it for the panel circuit board, the back part with the connectors in is still staying as mine. i would imagine the two front panels are the same??

Yup, 1999-May 2001 only work in cars made between those dates then they were revised (2 extra connections on the Mylar strip) so then it was May2001-2004 (guess) when they re-vamped the IS with diff wheels etc. and the unit then had the heated mirrors incorporated into the rear screen( again guess but makes sense).

Don't put the front off an old unit onto the back of a newer one you will blow about 10 fuses BELIEVE ME.

You need units from the same year cars otherwise there useless.

Just a quicky does the clock/outside temp still work? have you tried re-setting the ECU? it may be possible the computer has just forgot the settings when you shorted it ;) worked with the stereo :)

Sorry mate it goes by when it was made not the connectors, I had one out of a late 2001 with the same connectors as mine and all it was doing was staying at whatever setting it was on when I started the car so if it was on hot and I wanted to turn it down i'd have to switch the enigine off turn it down and start up again. What years your car? if the unit you've bought is from the same time period it'll be fine and as long as all the numbers match up it should be ok, the best thing to do is stick the new one in as a whole unit see if it works ok if it does then you should be able to swap the front and back (but I hold no responsability if it blows again).

But if there different no don't try putting front and back together, I blew radio, c/locking, elec mirrors, elec windows/sunroof and some other fuses I can't remember which and some are a bugger to change.

i beiieve they changed in 1999.the unit should have a sticker with the part number on it.
