Sat Nav Screen Options

Recommended Posts

I have bought the center console from an Lexus SE - originally to do the usual sat NAV mod done a few times on here.

Since doing more research there are alot of sat nav's out there (most play MP4 through a usb or SD card so i revised the post).

I'll let you know how I go on this

Ok - so far so good. I have the thing apart.

Anyone got an idea how i can hard wire a Sat nav ?

Can I piggy Back with a scotch lock straight onto the cig lighter wires under the center console ?

Any Info would be good

Thanks

Get the power source from the head unit loom. The Grey wire is the acc. & blue with a yellow strip is constant 12v.

This actually helps alot - I was goign to use the HEAD loom to power the motor and tilt positions. I now wouldn't

need to circuit test for the ignition power supply.

I have found a way to run the SAT NAV really simply while still holding an internal fuse and relay. I have bought

an extension for the cigarette lighter that houses male and female at either end.

Apparently if I scotch lock from the cigarette loom I can plug the NAV straight in out of sight.

Also thinking about putting a USB female in the dash so I can do updates from a laptop without taking it

out of the car.

A plan is coming together !

Hi

Im a proud owner of an IS300 01 after many years of vws, audis and bmws. I am happy to say that I absolutely love the car and hope to have lots of happy time together :tomato:

Im in the process of changing my stereo to an aftermarket as I have the annoying error message when playing CDs otherwise I would be more than happy with the current sound quality.

I am thinking about purchasing the Harness:

Do I need to buy anything else on top of this? (apart from the stereo of course)

but some people say that the rear speakers are 2 ohms and most aftermarket stereos are 4ohms which is apparenetly a problem?

I was also looking at the ipod interface:

Can anyone provide some feedback

Thanks in advance..

Finally completed the Sat Nav conversion using a Garmin 5000 system.

Everything works greeat and even plugged up ready for a rear view or DVD later through the composite cables !

Any Pics?

Planning on putting original Lexus sat nav in mine, will it connect into the existing wiring loom?
