  1. I went to Toyota this morning and asked for a 4 door Supra, all the staff laughed at me, I said whats the problem, they said there isn't a 4 door Supra, I said yes there is,, this guy on LOC has got one, and showed them the picture, they are all still rolling on the floor laughing now. I'm saddened by this :(

  5. On topic in uk winter tyres should be used for most of the year!!! Infact in Scotland thats all that should be used!!! Summer tyres are ment for 10c + and winter tyres are ment for 7c and below which in uk 9 months of the year its below 7c..... Summer tyres really should be only used from around june till September and winter for the rest. And before anyone trys to say which is best for snow its 4wd then fwd then rwd.

  6. Hello to all LOC members After many a year away from the site I thought I would check up and see if you were still alive and kicking, glad to see you all are! From a quick search on here I see all things Lexus have moved on... Unlike me! lol I still have my old IS200... Have had it for about errrrm 10 years now and still love it... Well apart from the mpg but you can't have everything! Which leads me to my questions... Who has owned their Lexus the longest? Who's is in the best condition for its age? Mine is a 99 plate IS200 sport which I have owned for 10 years and has covered a staggering 77.000 miles lol... Not a spot of rust on it and has only ever cost me the sum of my front shock absorbers and a ignition coil, not bad for 10 yrs motoring?... It even still has all 3 keys, and the spare wheel it came with in the boot unused! (probably no good now lol) Just a hello to all you LOC'ers and to say HI again :-)

  10. I just read through this and agreed with what Ray said that's all Noby, not siding against you or with anybody else. If a component of an engine is different then it's different in my opinion. I'll also say some of the comments directed at you Noby are a bit childish and uncalled for. I stopped name calling in secondary school. I promise this Is my last contribution to this never ending thread, maybe some of you should think about leaving it now as well as its all going around in circles. I mean your even discussing zetec engines now?? WTF? 31 pages could turn into 60+ lol... Happy Easter everybody and it's stopped snowing!!! :) :)

  11. How many times?? The engine is NOT identical Knobby.

  12. Leave it on. It's done now. I kerbed one of mine the very same day I switched from my scabby winter wheels to my mint summer ones. A month later I spun it on a roundabout and punted the same wheel if previously kerbed. If I'd have switched to the spare or had it repaired and THEN damaged it again, I'd be SERIOUSLY pi$$ed...

  13. Mine also had leaking shocks around the same mileage i saw on the previous MOT certs. Shocks need replacing on all cars at some point dont they?
    1 point
  14. But Knobby.... I have had an IS300.... My 200 has full leather, armrests, satnav and the better six speed manual.... I can only speak for myself but I can have virtually any car that I wish and for me the 200 is the perfect choice as it is rugged, good looking, easy and cheap to work on and reliable..... I guess that if Matt wanted a 300 then he would have bought a 300 and I know that Ray is looking for his Ideal BMW because neither the 200 nor the 300 suit his purposes....

  15. Noby, dont think anyone is jealous of your is300, yes they have a bigger engine and more toys. You can't use the extra power legally anyway and apart from having leather seats and an armrest very little else is different. The mpg is about the same, So in the real world it's just about personal preference. and before you ask i've had both the 300 and the 200 i have now.

  16. They are Carp... Very little useful info and they never tell you how to acess that bolt that is inaccesible or how to dismantle the pipe connector when you haven't got the correct tool on a Sunday afternoon... You have to figure it out yourself..

  17. This is why he's running avoidance on my requests for him to back up his claims I "love his 4door supra" and what he KNOWS I can or cannot do, in the context of servicing and mechanics, "on a car", because its impossible for him to look this information up on the Internet and cut and paste it here. Without being able to do that, he cannot back himself up. And a man that makes specific claims but cannot back himself up is well, not a man...

  21. Wife re-modeled one of mine last week, and tried to knock one of my front spoilers off. Leave the spare until summer Stuart.

  22. If you decide to go back to the 16's Stuart, I'll look after the 17's for you....

  25. My clean IS200 is faster than a dirty IS300 because my car being clean will cut through the wind much easier.. No... thats funny, but so is this thread :)

  27. To be honest, the IS is easier to work on than the Jeep.... Especially because I don't have to stand on steps to reach over.... Best thing to do is to buy an old banger that would be going for scrap and tinker with it... That's how I learned.... My pal and I used to race each other to remove the engines from our Mk1 escorts strip them down and rebuild them in the evenings after work though before we build an engine crane we used to lift the engines out using rope and a scaffold tube.... Then we taught ourselves to weld when we got our hands on a set of specifications for the bodyshells for The escort rally cars.....Then we started fittin bigger engines and larger carburettors Keep your eye out for a dead IS200 and tinker with that....Pull it apart, see how it works... That way you learn and still have a collection of spares for your good car..... I may have a knackered but driveable Jeep Cherokee going for very little cash in a few months Its just the fact that my IS is my only car and i rely on it as my daily driver so cant afford to have it off the road at any time... i will deff be getting a car to mess about with at some point, for me it will be a classic for restoration and can learn along the way :) I also enjoy watching videos and reading up stuff online like noby, its educational and interesting but its not comparible to getting stuck in yourself, i know this because my friend is also a mechanic and have helped him with various things and its not a walk in the park, troubleshooting the problem is the hardest thing in mechanics not just the fixing

  28. Trouble is, he can't even talk the talk - he just CTRL+C and CTRL+V's the talk...

  29. Relly if your iffy about your rear end then is a simple fix. 10mm wheel spacers and 225/45 tyres on the rear job done lots more grip. As for running different make tyres it doesnt matter ive go on track with bald tyres and tyres that are all different treads and even tyres facing the wrong way and it makes very little difference to grip (well the bald ones did lol) just make sure you have lots of tread and your fine for road driving.

  33. Perhaps the wheel nuts are the problem? Are you using the normal Lexus nuts? If the holes on the GTR wheels are tapered you will probably need "acorn" type nuts for them.
