  1. Hi to you all, I found this site about a month ago, now. After spending much time looking through the forum and finding how informative it is and what a bundle of fun all you fella's are, (oh! and gal's), I no longer feel alone with my CT. I have never used a forum before so please, point out and excuse me, for any bad manners. I am an ex-pat living half way between Milan and Bergamo in Italy, just a few minutes from the A4 Turin /Venice motorway. I am a semi- retired podiatrst. My CT is called 'Mr. Jingles', and can be found on the 'fuelly site', ct200h year 2013. I would like to start by making a small contribution to the forum. I enclose details of how I resolved the spacesaver problem, with pictures. I set as my brief: simple, functional, low cost, light weight, to cause as little damage to the vehicle as possible. There was also a need to retrofit the original parts when/if I sell the vehicle on. Parts used: EN 4261121290 - wheel hub £67.57, EN 6193176010 - hub securing nut £9.92, 125/70 17 continental tyre £70.63, total cost £179.63. (I payed €208.51). The box EN 6499376030, comes in two forms, flat bottomed and angular bottomed neither was suitable for the job and they both needed cutting up and modifing to fit. The price tag for the box was around €220.00 so that was a definite no go. Do you get £200 in notes from the bank, then chop it up to fit in the slot of your piggy bank? As you will see the edges of the cork are not quite flush, needs a swift run over with a sander, if that. I fitted the spacesaver two weeks ago and as expected, the weight of the cover keeps the cork in place - no need for gluing down. The cover fits quite flush, even the mumsahb was impressed. ( got an extra spoonfull of sugar with my cocoa!!). As a rough guide, with the bathroom scales, I estimate that I lost 5.5kg and gained 12.46kg, so I am now about 7kg heavier than before. - also the CT!!That I feel, is nothing to tell mumma about. Hope that the enclosed information is of use to you. Michael.

  2. Hi all, just wanted to say thanks for all the post's and information I gained during my 9 months of owning my Lexus IS220d. My car was a 06 plate and sold it with 69k on the clock, I just couldn't relax when driving it due to the engine/ gearbox configuration, I was constantly changing up and down the gears. Reading through the forum I had a good one obtaining on average 46.5 during my ownership. Lovely looking car exterior/ interior and relatively quiet to drive. I was looking to change to Audi A4/ A6, in the end I went for a 09 VW Passat CC. Plus points over the Lexus in my opinion are - Smoother gearbox/ better ratio. More room front/ rear. Larger boot. Split/ folding rear seats. Economy - early indications 55mpg! The one thing I will miss is the sound system even though it was just the basic system, probably one of the best available. Anyway thanks again and hope you all enjoy owning/ driving your Lexus.

  3. Just a case of a dead battery I would suspect. Mine went all of a sudden last year. That was a 2007 model. The dead battery will doubtless lead to settings going to default, ie the mileage mpg and speed warning. Your windows may also need re syncing...are any of the little led's blinking on each individual switch? Hard to see i know...cup a hand over it or wait till it's dark. If you haven't...for what it costs I'd get a new one now before the first cold spells arrive in winter. £80 ish for a decent Varta one should do the biz. See here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/199-how-to-change-the-battery-on-an-is250/ and http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/200-initializing-windows-after-battery-change/

  4. If all doors are unlocked, and you lock the drivers door with the key, only the drivers door will lock - the rest will remain unlocked. If you lock all doors with the button on the drivers controls (with the ignition off) then lock the drivers door with the key, all doors will be locked, but using the key in the drivers door will only unlock the drivers door, not the rest (you need to use the button inside to unlock the rest of the doors) If you have the ignition ON and press the lock button on the drivers controls (with the drivers door open) all door will lock, then unlock automatically. Not sure why - would make more sense to lock all doors except the open on, but there you go... The alarm is also no activated by locking the drivers door with the key. (if you have locked all the doors from outside using the remote, and the alarm is activated, then unlocking with the key will trigger the alarm before the drivers door is even opened)
