  1. Hi everyone, I wanted to share an amazing experience I had the other day in my Lexus Driving along at about 50mph, coming down a dip and then up a hill, another driver was on the left hand side in a driveway and looked like he was going to pull out as he hadn't seen me. I braked hard to slow down, and suddenly the brakes seemed to work harder than I had actually pushed the pedal and then a whirring noise started and the seat belts tightened and pulled me into my seat and I stopped well before the car in the driveway. As soon as I stopped the seat belts loosened. I was stunned! In 5 years of LS ownership this had never happened to me before, and although the car is nearing 9 years old, it all worked like clockwork! I didn't know it had this capability. I am constantly discovering new things about my beautiful Lexus. It's the most amazing car In the world, we'll ahead of its time, and I'll never part with her. My car looks after me and I look after her. In all my life (and that's a long time now!) I have never had such an attachment to a car. People who don't own one just don't get it, but those who do, do! I was wondering if anyone else here has had the same experience? Nige

  2. These lights take forever to change. So that's where squirrells keep their nuts. Honest MOT station

  3. Hi Chris, Time to take stock, and have a holiday to put things in perspective. Come to sunny NZ, and if you do you can borrow my LS430 to drive around and explore the country. You'll feel right at home as mine's the same colour as yours. Now there's an offer you can't refuse! Nigel

  4. Hello folks, Jumping in a bit late here and apologies for that. My only negative point on my 600h is the small boot but it is a small price to pay for all the pluses, unlike on the GS450h I once had for a week before I realised my error and returned it to get back into the RX400h I had traded in. I did not get on with the stiff suspension on the 450h on our rough roads. The 600h is super smooth, like the 430 and 460. Quite frankly I would be happy with any of these cars. I do not find parking an issue, partly because I tend to be picky on where I park anyway but I have been in fairly tight car parks - Bentalls Centre Kingston, for example, and it was a breeze. The lack of anti roll bars on the 600h L might be a problem for those who like to test bends at high speed. For me, I like long drives on the continent and the car is perfect for that. I can get up 4am Saturday morning, drive to Follkwstone to get on the 6:20am train to Calais and then run the car in Brussels for 10am and get back Sunday evening and Feel as if I spent the weekend at home on Monday morning . Driving to Rome or Nice is not a bother in this car. (We won't talk about the petrol bills but 32MPG is pretty good in a 5 litre V8) I love the RX400h too and is equally impressive in different ways. I am biased though, I just like Lexus, especially the service excellence the dealers provide. I do have a very soft spot for the Mercedes S class and CL too but the dealers really ruin that experience as do the reliability of Mercs compared to Lexus.

  5. The K & N filter sharpens the throttle response but also increases the engine noise at idle. A nice easy mod for about £38.

  6. You go there with the car and they make it up there and then. It is a custom system to fit your car, built by appointment. Price was about £400 (GS430 rather than GS300, but price almost the same) when I was enquiring last April time. Their current Adverts with prices are on eBay. Very good value, especially if you are local. Will be booking in this April for sure before my bonus gets spent elsewhere!

  7. Installed version C today. Will get back with my findings. But it already feels like the bluetooth is more stable and reconnects if you are out of coverage which did not work reliable for me earlier. I did not get any changelog.

  8. Wow Nigel, now you really are working your username... :) Seriously, I applaud your generosity! (love the idea of NZ, maybe I should emigrate) Chris, I'm in a similar situation to yours, only I'm ahead by just over a year. And what a year it's been! I'm lucky that my redundancy enabled me to not only get myself a Lexus (LS430), but also gave me time for multiple holidays. I've had a fantastic time, that will finally end when I return from skiing the French Alps. Gotta go, sun's out and there's fresh snow...

  9. Thanks for all of your input guys, I think I have made my mind up and as I car I really want one. I just need to work out if I can afford to run it as a daily driver or not. Many thanks Nat

  10. Having had the RX300 and now RX400h my comments are: The ride in the 400 is more comfortable, less bouncy, probaly due to the lithium battery pack under the rear seats. The fuel consumption is much better. Av 32-36 mpg if driven carefully with a light right foot, against 22-25 mpg. The CVT gearbox is incredibly smooth and the automatic 4 wheel drive electric motor on the back axle has been fantastic in the snow and ice. I was told by my dealer the hybrid batteries have never failed and would be replaced free if they did. I am also advised the 400 will hold a better residual value than the 300 or 350 when trade in time comes round. I suggest you buy the latest technology. Up to 35 mph on the flat I have driven for 15 minutes just on the battery drive to the front axle. and when the battery power drops too low the petrol engine system recharges the pack in no time at all. Unless you watch the on-dash guage you do not know if the petrol engine is working! Amazing system. Happy driving regards Linehill.
