  2. I used an old toothbrush - gently - when washing my wife's car. On the window rubbers too - gently.

  3. I believe that if they sell you the warranty (which manchester did) then they should honour any repairs under the warranty without question. Any issues they have between dealerships and warranty issuer should be resolved internally without dragging me into the middle of it. It looks unprofessional and customers should not be subjected to it. I always manage to get a courtesy car. I do book well ahead. At least a week ahead. Also possible that they try and keep me sweet as they seem desperate to upgrade me to a 450 lol!!!

  4. Did the brake pads require replacement as a result of the seized caliper? If so, they should have been covered under the extended warranty. http://www.lexus.co.uk/img/Terms-and-Conditions-Lexus-Extended-Warranty-for-Vehicle_tcm880-1309714.pdf says: "4.3 Where the Mechanical or Electrical Failure of a Protected Part directly causes damage to another part of the Protected Vehicle (which is not a Protected Part) when the Protected Vehicle is in a Specified Territory during the Warranty Period, then We will pay for the cost of replacing or repairing that other part in addition to the cost of replacing or repairing the Protected Part subject to the Repair Limit, provided that the cost of such repairs are reasonable."

  5. What's annoying is that Lexus Australia only sell around 7,000 vehicles per year yet they get more models (ES and LX) and within each model they get more choice (e.g. IS350, RC350, GS350) compared to the UK where Lexus sold 11,500 last year :megaangry:

  6. Ive had a look and there is nothing untoward I can see. There is no water damage or anything like that. I assume that when the water enters the the space between the roof and the roof lining, that it channels away and drains out somewhere. Or, I have a problem. If anyone takes there car though a car wash, could they pull back the moon roof cover (keep the moon roof shut) and watch for any drips of water.

  8. I agree to a point about the the lack of 'sport' feel when selecting 'sport' mode. Main issue as far as I can see is an over enthusiastic electronic traction control which cuts in all too easily and unwantedly if you are trying to make a rapid getaway. You actually need to be very careful with this feature if trying to pull out in to moving traffic. Yes the 'rubber band' feel is alien to many - I am OK with it - 'floor' it initially and 'back-off' to match speed. Not really 'sporty' - but its not a 'sporty' car is it?

  9. Make sure you get the garage to fix this for you as I've heard of people paying £500 bills for replacing similar sensors in the RX400h.

  10. I have also experienced a Lexus dealer suddenly lose complete interest in a repair when I mentioned that I have an extended warranty. I suppose there are a bunch or reasons for this behaviour. Dealers get reimbursed a lower hourly labour by the warranty company than they could charge you. The warranty company sometimes sends out an 'independent' engineer to assess claims on their behalf. One could speculate why a garage might not want this to happen. I have also heard of main dealers having targets to meet regarding warranty repairs to save the company money.

  12. last car i owned had a full service 1000 mls before i bought it at dealer. got a fault evap system ie air con filter and charcoal cannister The air con filter had never been changed the amount of leaves that fell in the car was unbelievable, all ticked items in service book when i checked most were not done. Not saying all dealers are same just saying we checked this and that which is easy peasy, as above says look at your bill three quarters is labour and vat. Full service history on older cars means nothing use your eyes and ears best tools going. I know its hard to beleive i bought the oil filter tool before the car reading about the pitfalls forwarned and forarmed.

  13. I think it is just the leather on leather where the armrest sits in the recess that makes the squeek.

  15. Sounds like exhaust heat shield to me! It's on the top of the engine right at the fron of the car near the radiator. Mine does the same but only when engine is cold and idling. If this is the case with you, then you might be able to fix (per another member's idea) by putting a couple of large washers either side of the heat shield fixing bolt that looks rusty/corroded.... If you have bonnet open and get someone else to start the engine when cold, you should be able to test this by holding the heat shield when the rattle begins! Make sure it's cold tho!

  16. Thought I'd take a short clip of the car to hopefully get across how it looks after the detail. It has been out but you get the idea. Also, products I mention are purchased from dooka UK not booka!

  20. This is VERY dodgy if you ask me! As Dave mentioned the interior shot shows the later model steering wheel with the sport button and blue section at the bottom. Trouble is it states it's a 2008 model?!?! If that's the case, must have been quite some accident to need a different steering wheel!!! :( I'd avoid it big time!
