I just love big Jap cars, Crowns, Laurels, Legends, 300C, LS, etc, etc, and have owned plenty of them since the late 70s. Not surprising I suppose, considering my dream car is a 59 Caddy. Sadly, few people in the UK have the same taste, and a lot of cars from Japan never make it over the water, so are rare indeed...........shame!

My Merc Estate (205,000 miles) has been doing that for 5 years Mike. I just do not park it on slopes. Regards John

Hill holder refusing to let go? I had a similar issue with my Alfa. I parked on a hill facing up, when I went to roll the car down the hill to set off forward I couldn't get the hill holder to deactivate.

That seems to be normal - reversing uphill with cold transmission - probably nothing to worry about. Are there any other symptoms (ie in other circumstances)?

Gang, if you had read Dutchies post correctly you would see that he didn't say speed does not kill. He said that speed itself never kills. He actually was correct when he posted. " It is always speed in combination with something else that creates danger. rain, fog, dense traffic, lorries and so on". Drive within your capabilities and the capability of the car and hope others do the same. People get killed in collisions even at low speed. As for tramlining in the tracks left by HGV s over the years, I have found that the wider the tyres on your car the more this occurs.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I seem to remember the same post last year from someone. Exhaust systems can do strange things when there's cold and damp around. And don't drink the cherryade!
