  1. Hi Andrew, I have read what you have written, several times, boy, all that in one breath! now you're not from Italy, - where I reside - which would account for that, but there are not enough " e's or a's " as word endings. Perhaps you have got an old 'Enigma' machine and forgotten to tell us todays wheel settings! or, you may just be taking the P. I don't know. We on 'LOC,' are always willing, 'to throw a life jacket to a drowning man' and give our best council, but firstly we must understand the problem. At large we are quite a bright bunch, - after all, we are Lexus owners, mostly British, generally well travelled, but where you come from, or live, doesn't matter, (I just wish that we could write our country, instead of, 'Other/Non UK,'), our communication is done in English (UK) mainly. Having said all that, Britishness is unique, we can sit around a bare table and someone would find something humorous to say about it. this is quite visible from the replies you have had so far, - a bare lady comes under another heading!! It may be worth pointing out also, that we don't use ****** words, OR SHOUT, it's just not that sort of site. If you really have a problem with English, write in your own language or use Google translate, most of us are multilingual, we have now cracked American also, Now to your little problem. So, you were blind drunk and came of the road, landing in what you thought was a big puddle, but was in fact the Danube, however, you managed to get to the other bank and back onto Terra firma again. - the river's quite wide at Dresden, after a short period you'd sobered up enough to find, - to your surprise, that your car was flooded and that somehow water had mixed with the oil, but lucky for you, - being an intelligent Lexus owner, you had in the boot a spare set of plugs, some oil and a battery operated hair dryer, you set to work. After a short time you saw what at first looked like a large man heading towards you, but it turned out to be a large gorilla, - aren't they all, it had escaped from the local zoo, and was headed in your direction. He was a big lad and you didn't fancy any of that, so you legged it home, pretty swiftly. The next day you returned to your Lexus and tried to set fire to it, without success, so you took it to a shop that you own. Your next move was to try and get your Lexus dry and working again, some success was had, but as you hadn't checked the engine coolant, so it over heated, it also over revved for some reason, but then, this was an angry Lexus, after all you had tried to drown it the day before !! Next, you removed the 'Tps' system, the sensors are in the tyres as far as I know, so you must have removed the tyres, you also did a little clinical work in the engine bay, to try and resolve your Lexus's illness. - I think that in English we would use the gentile term, 'Blind, mindless buggering about.' Any old how, after a while you felt sufficiently confident to give your now very sick and tyre-less Lexus a test run, after you'd run 30 metres you realised that your Lexus hadn't moved, so, in your blind anger, you put a rope around it and tried to throttle it, not to mention the baby dolphin trapped inside calling/clicking for help. Now don't say all of this in one breath Andrew!!! This is my perception of your problem, if it is, I would suggest that you give your trusty Lexus a decent burial, pine coffin, gold handles and all, it deserves it, after all you've submitted it to. However, if this is an incorrect perception of what you wrote, please re-submit your original, but make it a trifle more understandable to get a better response from members. Best wishes. Michael.

  2. Hello everyone. I've recently bought an old (2006) RX400h and thought I'd share my first impressions (and a few solutions). Things I love: Very easy to drive and park - My wife doesn't feel she's driving a bigger car which was one of the selling points for us. Our family is getting bigger and we needed something more practical Efficiency - We live on the outskirts of London and most of our journeys are short (distance wise) stop start journeys. Over the first 10 days I've averaged 31mpg, with lots of short journeys, a quick blast on the motorway and hauling paving blocks from the garden centre. I think that's great for a car of this size and weight. I'm using shell V-Power btw. Not sure on people opinions on fuel types (I'm sure there's a topic on it somewhere) Gearbox/hybrid combo - I wasn't sure what I was going to make of the CVT. On the one hand I've always liked manual cars and finding the best/optimum gear to give me the torque. However, for a hybrid of this nature.. I think the smoothness of the CVT really suit it. It makes absolute sense to me For a 10 year old car it still looks relatively modern Things that annoyed me/us: The tailgate didn't stay up and the auto tailgate didn't work either. I ordered and changed the gas struts and this sorted this out. I've written the guide here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/245-replacing-tailgate-gas-struts-lexus-rx300350400h/ Sat Nav is old. OK I never expected a 10 year old car to have upto date in car technology but the lack of full postcode and being able to operate it moving was really bad. I purchased a new (2016) updated disc from eBay which works perfectly. however the routing is still not a patch on googlemaps No AUX port - I was really surprised by this! I find it shocking that something that should be standard on all cars was missing from this premium SUV. I've rectified it with an iphone/AUX kit. I wrote a guide here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/244-iphone-lightning-ipod-and-aux-connector-for-rx400h/ iPhone integration - Although I can connect the iphone for voice calls via bluetooth. I couldn't sync the contacts. I found a way around this however. I exported my icloud contacts to a file and uploaded the to my google contacts list. I was then able to pair my android tablet and upload my entire address book. However, I had to remove all spaces from all my phone numbers for them to import correctly which was annoying. The other annoyance is having to manually switch paired phones.. when my wife and I use the car. Reverse Camera - I've actually got used to this but my wife didn't really like it. So I retro fitted some reverse sensors at the cost of £12!!! It was well worth it and I've written a guide here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/246-installing-reverse-sensors-rx400h/ However even despite the small annoyances (many of which have been rectified), I think it's a great vehicle. The feeling of pulling away silently yet still being able to put your foot down to boot it is great.

  11. We had this exact problem with our Vectra roof rail system. The clips under the cosmetic roof strip are held in place by rivets that come loose allowing water to run down the c pillar. We drilled the rivets out, tapped the holes and put in small bolts covered in sealant. Job jobbed.

  12. You're on the right thread then.

  13. I can now confirm the eBay 6+6 pin Y cable suited my needs. However, it was a bit overkill as only two wires on the orginal loom was required. So a splice and solder job would have done the trick. Will post a guide shortly. The iphone/AUX adapter works great by the way!

  15. This is quickly turning into the best thread of 2016 by far. Seems like Andrew is trying to rebuild a lexus in a different solar system, maybe NASA can help?

  17. I would also ask the DVSA to look into the MOT station that did the test.

  18. I agree! If it was a dealer sale, get them to sort it asap. Good luck.

  19. If this was a car dealer sale I would be looking at them for repairs at their cost given the short time you say you have had the car, if bought privately you now have the costs of repair. Any mention of this on the MOT history check in the advisories section? Personally I would stick to OEM replacements but be prepared for a shock (pun intended) when they give you the prices at around £280.00 each, they may do all 4 for a grand.

  20. Debt free is awesome. Go for it, you'll be better off in the long run. Don't be a slave to the bank. 2008 GS and no worries is better than 2016 and sleepless nights.

  23. Hi, just bought my first Lexus. Its a 2002 IS300 sportcross. I love it, but it has a few problems already. On test drive it ran perfect, no warning lights or other issues. After 3 days in my possession the radiator has started leaking, the manual mode / e-shift on the gearbox has stopped working, and now the TRC OFF and VSC warning lights have come on! Googling all the faults is how i found this Forum. So i will be having a good read to see if i can fix these issues because i absolutely love every other aspect of the car. James Redhill/Reigate

  24. My other car also has a V8 and Auto and sure beats the GS430 from any speed Problem did get solved though by cleaning the MAF. The car really had a serious hesitation and now goes straight in revs when you hit the accelerator. :) Just what we like to hear
