  1. Well I have had my first Lexus now for 3 months and I really just cant stop looking at this machine. It's a sculpture, there is nothing on the road close to this car for me. Performance, comfort it's all there. I drive to Liverpool with the wife and kids and a full boot of luggage. I have read so many reports complainig about the back seats and the boot volume. Not for me. Anyway all I am saying is I really cant see me ever leaving Lexus unless they decide to radically change the look again only for the worse. Enjoy your vehicles and be safe.

  2. Maybe disconnect the battery for a couple of mins, it seems to work for resetting various clitch's

  3. Keep the settings in SPORT and enjoy your IS. Besides, I am not sure about the effects a turbo can have on An Atkinson engine.

  5. Hi. Just chopped my Merc C250 CGi Estate in for a CT200h which I'm picking up in a couple of weeks. First Lexus, and I've been seriously impressed with the CT on the test drives - it's nothing like the reviews. Ended up with a Luxury in velvet black with ivory leather. Looking forward to becoming part of the community. Guy

  6. John There is a light sensor in your Model the LS400 range from Mark 1-4 had them and they dimmed the dashboard lights when driving through tunnels and during dawn and dusk . The sensor is located at the right of the base of the windscreen. The Mark 4s were the only model to have the light sensor linked to the headlights.

  7. Most garages will check your system for leaks. It could be something simple, like a loose joint. It may just need re-gassing. They check for leaks during the process because they're not allowed to put refrigerant into a system with a leak.

  8. Gary, the aircon temperature sensor is located just behind the dash near the steering wheel. It looks like a small 1" square grill in the plastic. Not very noticeable.

  9. That is true for a PAYG sim but the £5 a month sim only monthly ones should be fine since it will be on a 12 month contract.

  10. As others have said it's most likely the light sensor but one thing I can say is that it's not a sign of a defective battery. Once the car fires up and the engine is running, all onboard electrics are fed by the alternator, not the battery. If there's enough 'spare' power (which there obviously should be and usually is) then the alternator will charge the battery, but the battery effectively becomes redundant once the engine and alternator are running.

  11. I thought that was the air con temperature sensor.

  14. Small exterior cosmetic problems can be fixed quite easily by a good dealer. The problem is, you can't know for sure how the car has been treated until you see it. A low mileage car, which did a lot of short trips, can have a ruined interior. Imagine someone, or a whole family, constantly getting in and out of the car. This will have a much more detrimental effect than one guy sitting in the car doing 500 miles in one go. As for resale value, I assume the lower resale value will be negated by the lower purchase price now. I'd never disregard a car, which is proven to be reliable, if it has high mileage.

  15. The SD cards are currently 220 Euros direct from Lexus at http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ - the dealer that is quoting £400 is clearly making a large profit The latest version is PZ445-US335-0K which was released in April. I have bought my cards (and DVDs in the past) from an eBay seller in Ireland. He currently has the latest card listed for about £80.00. Seller name is 'sergvia'

  16. Cant say I have experienced any jerkiness on down changes" when having a play", I don't find there is a massive amount of engine braking on down changes, even when I am calling for down changes at relatively high revs, nothing like you would experience with a manual gearbox. I don't quite understand the "downshifts are smoother during acceleration" part, but yes, being in the right gear coming into the corner is a must for me.

  18. Nick, thanks very much for this. I still have the car and still have the issues. I was thinking about a GROM but didn't know which to buy as I heard some have issues with distortion. I will certainly give this a go and will post back with my results. Thanks again for you very informative post.
