  1. I have come across this on other forums, but never experienced anything like it myself. I do get earache in my left ear whenever my wife is in the car never found out why. John.

  3. you can start your car in ev mode i used to do it in the CT and now in the IS but it will depend if your car has enough charge in the battery,if you have to travel uphill when moving off also if you have the inside temp set much above LO then the engine will start as you have requested the temperature to be higher than it currently is therefore the engine needs to warm the coolant up.

  4. For a correct use ICE has to reach at least 40 °C. do, despite of HV charge, it will be on till temperature is over 40°. Nothing irregular, let hybrid system work!

  6. PMSL Mark ! I wasn't complaining I was trying to make a point that generally map updates in my opinion are going to be purchased by people who use their vehicle regularly on new routes, rather than based on the type of ownership. But thanks for making me smile with your witty response

  8. Actually, I doubt Honest John is correct... for 15 years... not really. he could be referring to leaked e-mail from former Takata employee, stating that Takata knew about issues as long as 8 years before it became public. Now the issue became public in 2012 and first recalls started in early 2013. So issue might existed since ~2004... not really 15 years, and as we know it just 5 years. One way or another I believe companies are not doing enough to fix it in time. I guess this is most comprehensive view of the issue: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/24/business/international/honda-nissan-and-mazda-join-recall-over-faulty-air-bags.html?_r=0

  9. I believe the nearest to standard is probably the cambelt plus waterpump. Lexus will just replace the cambelt but will advise that they will inspect the waterpump and advise if it should be replaced. This seems to lead to a pattern of both being replaced and its not unfair of Lexus taking the cautious approach and replacing the w/pump as it worth doing and likely to fail before the other pulleys. (?) I'm not convinced that the pulleys are good for circa 200k miles either. One of mine in particular had bearing wear at 75k but I realise that might not be representative. But, 100k miles is a lot of miles and probably a lot of years - it was easy for me to replace everything as I did it myself. I really do appreciate the angst of choosing suppliers, what best to replace with what: as any hundreds of pounds is a cost and quickly adds up. If I was better organised I'd have a monthly car fund to cover running costs and scheduled repairs...

  10. Halfords same price as Amazon for the Blackview I looked at. £330. But as you say "Halfords dash cams are Crap" so why are you stressing? Why not watch the review and be very surprised. How come you always know better?

  11. Well I'm glad to hear you didn't book with halfords. I wouldn't trust them with an old Ford or vauxhall never mind a lexus. I'm sure I read somewhere one lad took his car to halfords for a service and they lost half the engine cover clips. I'm about 6k away from the 30k major and was planning on using lexus Wolverhampton as it only 8 miles drive for me but incidentally there's s toyota dealership next door to lexus and if I can save £75 like yourself then I'll be using the toyota garage.

  12. Removing the protectors is easy enough, the muck collection between the inside edge of the protector and the wing is less likely to get ingress as unless you are driving around fields or country lanes the front wheels pass most of thier muck backwards. The thing to bear in mind is when you unscrew the screws you expose the metalwork around the screw so when replacing the protector apply the sealant to the screw tips before inserting them.

  17. The grill has been on Lexus for the past 4 years now, it was bound to happen. There are 5 wheel options to choose from ranging from 19-20 inch and there is a full length panoramic sunroof shown in some cars. They have a black glass roof in contrast to the cars with standard sunroof that just have a cutout glass piece. Full length moonroof: The car in the video looks much better than the pictures and Ive found that angles dont photograph well - the car itself looks insane - theres nothing like it on the road especially when you see how big the thing is.
