Dropped the ISF off for a service and front brakes changing at Lexus Coventry this morning. Exceptional service so far, helped ever so slightly by the courtesy car!.....

Great walkaround video found on youtube of the upcoming Lexus LS. Appears that Lexus have listened to comments and updated the navigation system graphics which look much fresher. I also like the burgundy colour but a lighter interior choice would certainly be the way to go on this beast

I agree with you John. What annoys me no end is your premium going up even if you make a no fault claim. How is it fair for it to cost you more if someone else hits you? It doesn't make it any more likely that you will be involved in another accident, and it is certainly no reflection on your driving skills.

That's absolute rubbish Paul @VrmmVrmm. Insurance IS a rip-off because it's the law of the land that you must have it so they can charge whatever they want for it. THEN, when you need to make a claim, they do all in their power to avoid paying out. Even if the accident is in no way your fault, they still increase your premiums anyway. Not only that but everything is extra now. I remember the days when 'fully comprehensive' was just that - it covered everything. Nowadays, if you want this, it's extra; Oh, you want that as well sir? Courtesy car while yours is being repaired? I'm afraid that's extra, etc., etc.

Bottom line here (and let's get sensible) you purchase insurance from a company of your own choice, you make choices as to the type of cover, you make choices regards the amount of damage cost you will cover yourself, you decide to protect your "No Claims Bonus" or not ... all this is up to you! Then in the agreement you accept the offer under the rules of the Insurer and Law of the Land...it's all very simple until something happens then according to many on this thread even though it's not your fault you end up blaming the insurance company who are YES making a profit but importantly protecting ALL the other drivers they insure. If you hit a dog and do £1000 damage you make a choice to claim or not and forego the Grand. You report to Police because it's the Law you don't have to report to Insurance. Then on the other hand if two or more vehicles are involved therefore more than one party hopefully all insured then it is a must you notify your fault or not. You should remember too that the dog may be insured!!! So the advice inform your insurer. If you have your No Claims protected you have nothing to worry about...if you are NOT at fault you also have nothing to worry about...the insurance company decide that. eg when inspected your car may have one tyre which hasn't enough tread left even though you're not to blame for the incident you are driving a vehicle with a weak link and illegally as it is no longer road worthy. None of us like paying but that's the way it is...Insurance in my view isn't a rip off....it's expensive yes and the attitude of many towards their responsibilities in respect of it is a contributory factor as to why. Unless you're living in cloud cuckoo land you all know that and that's why you purchased insurance in the first place.

No, I am not talking about premiums going up in general. What I am talking about it is the fact that you making a claim - regardless of fault - affects your premium. Or, how about when my missus did two insurance quotes and it came out cheaper (with the same insurance company) when she said it was her fault as opposed to a non fault claim? Also, it has nothing to do with being informed before purchase, it is the fact that you have no choice either way! Err, I am not sure why you mentioned this? If, for whatever reason, you hit a car in front that has braked then it is your fault. You should be prepared at all time to come to a stop just in case. This has nothing to do with what I mentioned, namely a non fault claim eg sitting at a set of lights and getting rear ended, or your car being parked at the time.

If a insurance company can rip you off they will, they complain about fraudsters but they are the worst of all ....I've lost thousands of pounds in no fault claims in the past all they say is take it or leave it ...I now have agreed value on my car ,of course this cost extra again ..... I'll bet linas wished he never mentioned that slight scrape !!!!!!! I sure this happens to hundreds of drivers every day, do they report it , no probably not ,do they have problems in the future ? Well I did threaten pics and after spending a few hours with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo and Conditioner, Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection here they are. Very pleased with the results though I can't take a picture to save my life. The metallic flake pop is amazing in the flesh though I don't think the pictures do it justice. I've chucked in a couple of interior shots to show how well the previous owner kept this car. Stop already!

Just bought a 2010 450h (49k), to go along side my SC 430. Only done 300 miles so far but very pleased with it. I fine vehicle that's a credit to it's previous owner.

No automatic option with the is220d which in my opinion is a shame as I think the car would be better for it. I always found the gearbox unsuited to the engine and 6th was useless on uk roads.

I had an RC-F for a day as a loan car from Lexus Guildford. I noticed they have a GS-F for sale at them moment, I wonder what the chances are???

Not sure I like the front end at all, but the interior and dash seems nice and clean compared to other high end marques. But sure looks like a lot of expensive tech to have fail in years to come. (though no doubt will last longer then other brands) My LS400 is not too worried about being replaced.

I have the same issue and have not found a satisfactory solution... apart from having someone permanently seating in the back! - It is definitely coming from the largest of the two backrests, the one that includes the armrest. Keeping the armrest down, and moving the seat slightly forward from its rearmost position alleviates the problem to some extent... but not completely. You can also play around with the angle of the seat back. I did mention it to the dealer and they confirmed that it is a common occurrence. One thing to check: if you lift the carpet immediately behind the seats, there are some bolts down there that, if not fully tightened, can cause some noise.

My new Brembo pads from ECP are silent (so far) whereas the yellowstuff pads they replaced could be a tad loud.

I also appreciate all the comments about insaurance but at the same time have been waiting for over 1 year for this air bag recall and have been following this thread since. I once informed my insurance company that someone has clipped my bumper with a shopping trolley. They responded but saying do you know who it was or the registration. I said no. Then that said okay and do you want to claim, I said no as it may rub out but only telling you as it's says in my terms to inform you of everything. Thanks she says! At renewal my insurance was refused with a new provider as I did not mention that I had a claim. I called my old insurance company and they said it's recorded as a claim with 0 payout! Thanks to that my insurance jumped +£300 :( So should we inform our insurance company if your not going to claim.

And guys just reading through the comments about insurance and laughing to myself about how much time people have on the their hands to be messaging about this and not the actual thread topic. If Linas is saying it is sorted with Lexus then who cares. Also I know this for a fact that your own insurance does not cover a car that is loaned or hired to you. It will only cover a privately own insured car that is given to you with the owners consent. loaned cars have their own insurance and if they are happy with it upon return then end of story. Linas does not need to inform anyone.

So you drove the car on there insurance only. Not herd that one, they will assume you have insurance and as i have stated you are only covered third party. I am speaking from previous experience. And believe me i nearly got in to a right mess putting it lightly. I have just found this on google.It shouldnt affect your NCD as I assume the hire car co insured the vehicle hence the CDW?You will need to declare the accident to your insurers and they may load the premium at renewal BUT your NCD will not be affected unless this car was insured under yout own policy as a TAV (temp additional vehicle)

Was about to write the same thing, you are legally obliged to tell them even if it not your fault. Even if you go through a none fault credit repair service, you still need to inform your insurance company and the credit repair company are legally bound to do the same. Also you must answer yes to if you have been involved in a fault or none fault accident on insurnace quotes for the next 5 years!

Actually john is right, i have been in this situation and its not nice at all. You have to report all accidents whether your fault or not. If you read your insurance policy which to be fair who does, it will more than likely state this. And also its an offence not to do so, if they dispute it is there fault. You are covered by your own insurance third party only, which you will find is fire and theft.

The SC430 is growing on me, from the beginning i was not so impressed with their design, then i started to think they were ok. And every time i go to check this thread i like it more and more so right now i just want one myself

It's interesting what other cars we were considering before buying our GS450s. I was looking at CLS350 CDIs and the odd 530d but didn't really fancy a diesel and the equipment and tech in the BMW and MB was no match for the GS. I also wanted something very reliable as there are few things more disruptive to a finely balanced kids/wife/work life than a non functioning car. In the end, my positive experiences with the family Prius, and lots of reading of forums put the GS on top. No regrets from me. In my car options spreadsheet (do all blokes have one of these?) I'd factored in the cost of fuel, and while the GS is probably a touch thirstier than a CLS350 or 530d the fact petrol is cheaper and running costs are lower generally put the GS only marginally more expensive than an old Volvo S80 D5 I ran for a while. In terms of economy versus performance everyone finds a level they are comfortable with. I'm very comfortable with 341bhp and 30mpg. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks very nice in red. First one I've ever seen. Be sure to give the car some good long regular runs to avoid issues as these motors don't like dawdling around town.

A good leather repair specialist should be able to do it and match the colour so that you would never know its there.

Lexus IS250 far the better drive in my opinion. I've drove both the 300h and 200T. 300H felt noticeably underpowered and sounded dull compared to the 250. Couldn't wait to give it back to be honest. 200T only felt slightly quicker than the 250 but did not have that glorious V6 roar. Give me the 250 V6 any day.

Have you tried sharing the contacts on the phone after setting the car to transfer contacts? On mine, if I remember correctly, even though it disconnected the phone, you go to your contacts menu and select Share. Then select all your contact and choose Share - Bluetooth. It should then start transferring the contact to the car. If that doesn't work, then you can try disconnecting the phone from the car and re-connecting it after searching in Bluetooth for it on your phone. It should then ask you if you want to transfer your contacts.

One of the reasons I bought my GS450h last year, which I was weighing up against a Golf R32 and a Honda Civic Type-R as my short list of 3, is the combination of excellent performance, surprisingly good economy, reliability and brilliant for soaking up many miles. It cannot cope with the twists the same way a well set-up Type R can, or make the same noise the R32 makes but it's a brilliant combination of most things. Another VERY important aspect for me was an excellent local dealer something most VW dealers can never be accused of, and the fact that my car, which is 11 this year, is still under warranty until August next year!! Brilliant work Lexus.

At the risk of showing colour prejudice I must say I personally liked the blue one. The red RC was fabulous. Did Lexus ever do a red IS F? (I like red) I must ask if the guys with silver/grey cars had their butlers come by plane? John

1) official time is 4.5s or thereabouts 2) having driven the c63 2012 model, it doesnt handle as well as an RC-F and is firmer. 3) also seems to be driven by yobs with no regard for other road users. A friend of mine tried selling one to an enthusiast. Ended up getting calls from people with vocabulary extending no further than bro.
