  1. Just taken over the IS-F mantle from @DT_Racing so thought I'd say 'Hi All'. Must admit was nervous about private purchase having only bought through dealers before and we did have a slight tax hiccup (what was so wrong with the old car tax system?) but all good now. Done a Brum commute but looking to get out on a proper run as soon as possible as difficult to fully extend down the M6 (29mpg apparently this morning). Love the stealth looks which doesn't seem to attract that much attention, sound is glorious, ride is more pleasant than my previous 530d M-Sport, tyres are somehow cheaper than the BMW!, steering great (don't understand what you changed here Dave but it works). I doubt the infotainment system UI was ever up to date even when first released but I guess you could call it reasonably functional - and it streams direct from my iPhone so not so bad. Will update once I've figured out how to drive it properly.

  2. Well just to let you all know the luxo barge was collected today by its new owner, He was given a second bite of the cherry, He was outbid by someone who genuinely seemed to be ok, with plenty of message contact but was having various issues, with work shifts, insurance, & so on, I kept giving extra days to get things sorted. But 13 days after winning it wasn't going to happen & I need a replacement. Anyways the chap who was outbid asked to be informed if the sale didn't go through, which I did last night, Within 15 mins I was informed he had booked a 1st class train ticket & would be arriving in sunny Manchester at 14:30. After a short trip from EASTBOURNE!!!!!! He was very happy with the barge & I was very happy with him & the hassle free experience, if only most were like that. So off he went with a smile on his face with roughly a 5 hour drive in front of him.at 4pm, ready for the rush hours to start I've mentioned this site to him so hopefully he'll join up & keep me/all interested informed on how life with R483 UHP is going. I only owned it for 2yrs but know I'll miss it, But couldn't justify a 4ltr V8 doing 50-60 miles a week less than an hour a day. On a side note, I actually checked the toolkit out Which was complete (spanners, wheel brace, screwdriver & pencil torch) & I'd say unused, the wheel brace looked like it had been test fitted on a wheel nut having a slight scratch on it. Thanks to all for spending there time reading some of my extra long posts, I'll be sticking around as one day I think I'll be behind the wheel of another luxo motor. Cheers all. 7. · Looking to invest in an ISF in the near future as a replacement for my supercharged IS200. I've been keeping an eye on ISF adverts for the last 6 months or so. Missed out on a few nice ones as they sold quickly and noticed a few that have sat for a while and wanted to put together a list of background I’ve been able to find out and give people the opportunity to share any information on others that are currently for sale. I'd have a long travel for any of these so wanting to get as much homework done at base as possible. Its painful how few come up for sale! But being such a rare and highly rated car this doesnt suprise me. 8. Hello Guys. I know this isn't to everyone's taste but it makes me smile.

  9. No!... you guess wrong....You're contractually obligated to report all accidents and incidents to your Insurers. Fault or no fault claim of no claim. You accept T&Cs and sign then you hand over your premium....contract made = they give you cover you give them £££ That does not stop you from reporting....that's a personal decision you make which technically invalidates your contract, which is the same as having no insurance. Understand too that this question when renewing is usually based on the previous five years...so for the next period whatever the duration this defect in your contracts with insurers prevails. Insurance isn't about the car it's about you. Tread carefully, if you go out on a limb there's consequences...Bottom line is when asked for advice make sure the advice given is sound.

  11. Looks very much like mine. I also have LPG fitted. Not an original thought, it has been said many times on this forum, but the LS430 is growing old with grace, and still looks good for its age. A bit like Michelle Pfeiffer I expect a flurry of opinions on that last statement.

  12. This one as well - most of the nice cars had "nappies" on the bumpers ..why bother with a nice car if you have to cover them in protection - didn't work for the one in the picture though ....

  13. Notice as well the interior wood has been painted in "BMW Black" - again - not my doing, - the previous owner. He's done a good job, and if you like your interior dark it's perfect. Think it was done to achieve a more modern look, however, personally given the choice, I'd prefer the originality of the wood! Horses for courses I guess :) The original owner also darkened the rear lights, blacked out the front grill, and wrapped the roof - all in black, - this has all come off. Unfortunately taken the wrap off the sills along the roof edge has removed some of the paint :( Not sure whether to get that done - along the front bumper, which could do with a respray from stone chips... - it's a strange one, - it wasn't an expensive car to buy and I probably won't get a fortune when I sell, so is it worth spending the money on spraying the bumper? (mechanically it wants for nothing). I appreciate the windows might not be to everyone's taste, but I left them as I like the increased privacy, I find a lot of UK drivers quite aggressive, and the windows help me shut all that out and waft along in peace & quiet ;)

  16. The outside style of a car bears no relationship to how it drives and feels inside. Yet we take the outside asthetics very much to heart when choosing a car, but unless we pass a mirror or shop window we never see ourselves driving it! The LS430 cabin is a nice place to be and possibly we should consider the interior and driving experience more than the body shape..

  17. Cars fitted with dash cams always seem to be involved in some sort of road rage or RTA, I'm steering well clear and not fitting one in my car!

  18. Exactly. Ideally as a non profit with premiums based on published statistics.

  20. Well we do live in a capitalist society and that's what goes on. Its also worth remembering that if secondhand prices continue to rise it also has an effect of enhancing the value of your LS. Mike. Gold price heading down...sell,sell,sell....LS400 prices on the up buy, buy, buy :)

  21. The MOT history reveals some serious corrosion issues, unfortunately. Great colour. Darker colours hide the ungainly lines of the 430.
