  1. Travelled down to Phil’s yesterday and bought his LS430. Superb car, drove it home 280 miles and it felt like nothing!!! Unbelievable condition throughout. Really pleased with it. Here’s a pic of it on my driveway, there will be more to come.

  2. I'm chuffed that its gone to someone who really appreciates it, and I got to be a passenger in it for 10 miles for the first time ever which felt good! A pleasure to meet you Martin, and I hope the car gives you as much pleasure as it gave me. Now I'm on the hunt for a replacement, I've got two GS's to see on Saturday morning.

  3. Damn, I was secretly hoping you wouldn’t buy it so I could get it instead! Congrats. If you feel the need to flip it for a quick profit in the next few weeks then let me know

  4. 9th January 1998 she was born at R.R.G. Salford Quays Manchester. She has 154000 on the clock and Has only let me down once in the 8 years I have owned her. All those years she has run on LPG and never missed a beat. She had some suicidal female driver texting on her phone at a junction and she hit us having to replace the N/S wing and front bumper I remember she was fined and banned her car a Nissan Micra just folded up. She still looks like a million dollars, the car that is, when she has been washed and polished and I still look forward to getting into her to go for a drive.

  5. Interesting news that Toyota /Lexus will be incorporating this technology in their cars. Big step forward in the infotainment game..... https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/09/toyota-will-add-amazon-alexa-to-select-cars-in-2018.html

  8. @Big Rat Yes my Blue Mink paint has peeled from the primer too. Apparently all the Silver fox and Blue Mink did that if they didn't completely rot away to dust first. Now a boring it but stick with it......... Mine is a Mk 2 series 1 with the gauges on top of the dash and full chrome Rostyle wheels and yours was a Mk 2 series 2 which had the gauges lower in the dash and steel wheels. A few other differences too, not least front doors are a very slightly different on the leading edge and windscreen apertures 2 mm smaller................ so the art of the facelift not a new thing which links this to this tread. Back to ISF............Granting @Mark G point made about facelift items coming in over time, which I would expect as parts bins run out and or new bits come on line is there any science or timeline to know what to expect? for instance is one thing the last thing to change so if you have that you have it all?? Of course its buyer beware and do the research but are there any other bits to check in a claimed "facelift" model. Should I be searching for another thread on hear that tells all this?

  9. Budget is up to £20k ish and the perfect car would be Blue with Black Leather but I understand that's a rare combination, next best would be grey, then silver. Facelift would be nice but I probably need to drive both to see if it's worth it. Not at the stage of travelling hundreds of miles just yet until I'm 100% that the ISF is for me.

  10. A belated update... I finally got around to doing a couple of little jobs that I've been meaning to do for a while. Namely, swapping out all the interior bulbs with LED replacements from a kit I purchased some time ago. The kit I purchased also included bulbs for the boot (not pictured, but also a big improvement), plus the puddle lights and rear number plate. They seem to be pretty good quality but I'm keeping these as spares as I reckon the OEM bulbs illuminate the number plate just fine. And for the puddle lights I wanted to install something that was a bit more of a proven quality since replacing these is a bit more time-consuming and difficult than any of the interior bulbs. So, I coughed-up for a pair of extra bright Osram LEDs. For such a cheap and easy mod, the difference and improvement over OEM is quite considerable. Gone is the strange mish-mash of LEDs and yellow-ish halogen bulbs the car left the factory with. Now, there's crisp white light everywhere. I also completed the long-overdue task of wiring-up my illuminated scuff plates. On my previous IS250, these were plug & play, but a small modification is needed for them to be powered on a MY2011 car. This was a pretty straightforward job though after following the excellent how-to guide on the site. Illuminated Sill Retrofit.

  14. People who put tacky ebay V8 stickers on things should be dragged into the street and given a good shoeing!

  15. There are better checklists available with more detail and specs within the technical portal, but you will need to pay for access. https://www.lexus-tech.eu/

  16. Its all on the Lexus website - just google search Lexus Servicing and it should come up - scroll down and the checklists is there. The official Lexus service checklist doesn't change air and pollen filter but for some reason, my RRG service plan has it included for no extra cost along with free puncture repairs in the family, 1 free full valet each year and 10% off parts. I presume the Lexus official checklist is just the minimum standard of what needs to be done - dealerships will do what they usually do i.e. change filters if they usually change them or just inspect them if they usually inspect them

  17. @DAW David they are substantial the exhaust hangar bracket itself is bolted up through with x3 m10 bolts you could suspend the whole car in the air from a cable on just one, well maybe two 😁 🐀

  19. Hi Paul, Yes, my interest in cars does span the decades so you guessed right as I have a 1968 Cortina 1600e, (under restoration) in Blue Mink. Anyone of a certain age will remember those. "back in the day" it belonged to my Granddad so family owned from new and one day it will be hit the road again better than new. For clarity I don't remember it new as was only a child. Im old but not that old. Yours, and other comments on here, as well as being interesting and amusing are the best source of info available which I sure many enjoy reading if not contributing and maybe soon I will be back with a V8. Life is not complete without a V8. For me its all about the colour so not going to alienate myself by declaring my favourite................just yet :-)

  23. @Linas.P Some good points there Linas I'm glad you retrieved your 'Rambo' comment it's just not worth it, a guy I work with had is Audi Rs6 stolen from the drive forced there way into the house one night and took the keys while he was working away they threatened his wife with rape if she didn't hand the keys over, she just got in the Police believe they followed her back. Anyway the insurance replaced the car a while later with another RS6 and sure enough they came back, Steve was so concerned about what happened before that he had steel bar gate fitted at the foot of the stairs, they broke in having disabled the alarm he heard them and went to the stairs put the lights on and there they were ski masks and holding petrol bombs. Suffuce to say he handed the keys over, they've since moved and he no longer drives these type of vehicles, as I said it's just not worth it it's just a car at the end of the day. Big Rat
