  1. Is it just me, or does anyone else just see a stormtrooper in this photo? 🤔

  3. This is the third GS I've seen, and in all honesty it's hard to see how I could have found a better one. It really is just about in showroom condition. 68k full Lexus history. Maybe not everyone's choice but I particularly wanted cream leather. Hopefully this will be our means of getting to Austria in the spring.

  4. Inform your insurance company but don't action anything. Contact her company first and log a claim, they will contact her to ask her whether shes liable. If she does admit guilt. her insurance company will take care of everything from a courtesy car to repair. Also if you insist you get it fixed by Lexus they will probably authorise it. If you DO claim even a non fault with your own insurance company, an appointed Accident Management Company will be dealing with you and they will provide you the courtesy car etc but will skin her insurance company alive with extortionate charges - Thats how they make money. If you go direct with her company even if they fulfill all your requests like fixed by Lexus etc they will probably still save money. So they will be very cooperative to you if you did. Its all a numbers game!

  5. Sorry to hear that , but should be straight forward & wouldn’t be at all surprised if her insurance company offers to repair it so you won’t have to fork out your excess. Had that when I was hit from behind a while back. But as others have said I would insist Lexus do the repairs unless you know a body shop you trust. Even if you decide to go through your own insurance company there shouldn’t be any issue with you getting your excess back from such a clear cut accident. Hope it all gets sorted as painlessly as possible👍🏻

  6. It is old and well known issue. Check the forum history but as far I remember there is no 3rd party replacement. Here is an example: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/108706-gs450h-leaking-shock-absorbers/

  7. It was on Autotrader back in October last year, a private sale on the West coast of Scotland. I think it was originally on at £17000 but dropped to £15000.

  9. Welcome Pete The G3 should be fine Phil. On mine, you go to the phone menu and disconnect the phone. You then try and transfer the contacts and it should attempt a new connection to get the info across. I will have another go at doing mine again tomorrow and see exactly what the procedure is.

  10. New bearings come today, Paul from whifbitz got them quickly sent out, top man 👍should have the pistons, rings and rods assembled on the weekend.

  11. So my rod bearings and turbo have come....... but the rod bearings are damaged. Ive emailed whifbitz about it and just waiting for a response, it was just poorly packaged and the turbo has dented/crushed the bearings so its a little set back but its ok im sure it will be sorted. The turbo on the other hand ......... jesus ***** it is huuuuuuuuuge!!! Alot bigger in person compared to looking at pictures of it! Just for comparison ive placed a 2ltr coke bottle next to it, keep in mind this is slightly larger than the normal 2ltr And 1 next to honey 😂 Will crack on with piston ring gaps tomorrow and hopefully my bearings wont set me back too much

  12. Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen this car, currently up for sale at VW in Blackburn. It's original reg is SV58 ODY but also had B12ENH, L10DJL and J11SFF.

  13. First off i would like to thank members for their earlier advice on my exhaust. I decided to go for stainless and i don't regret it the system has been replaced from cat back including the manifold clamps which were well rusted I have kept the original secondary cats because they were in such good condition kept the downstream sensors omitted the mid silencer but had oversized polished back box's with 3 1/2 " round polished tail pipes. Well what a difference it is slightly louder sounds very similar to a nissan 350z and definitely more responsive. They have made a superb job all sections jointed so can be removed or altered easily very pleased

  14. 300h owner but had the chance to drive the RCF today at a demo day put on by Listers Lexus Cheltenham. Whilst waiting to try the new LS500 I was offered a go in the RCF. Glad to have experienced a V8 of Cathedral proportions and endless pull. I fear the V8 will be resigned to history soon so chuffed to have driven this one. LS500 - a massive silent luxury thing. The rear seating room and gadgets are totally nuts.

  15. Not overly keen on it think the wheels let it down they should have been a more sharper design to match the bodywork instead they look like there more of a smooth design

  17. I paid £5,600. I know I could have got one for a bit less but I believe the one I have is as good as it's possible to get.

  18. I think the gen 3 is a much nicer shape. I got 38mpg on my way back from Bournemouth doing 70-80 so I'm more than happy with that.

  19. That a lovely looking Car and to my eyes very modern in its design (well I'm not keen on the latest Grilles on Lexus). Very envious. Someone said to have a Sunroof would be the icing, but head room i suspect is even lower than an LS400. I have to have an anti-static bag velcro'd to the headliner to stop my little amount of hair rising and creating a spark when I get out of the Car to fill with Petrol. Sunroofs or Moonroofs get very little use in the UK I would think? I rarely open mine and as a Car gets older the drains start to break up, etc, etc. Also, good they ditched those seperated lights on the boot which personally I thought as weird. But Beauty as they say...

  20. Glad to hear that Pete. I’m not surprised about traction issues at the top end TBO given the bhp you now have. The power to weight ratio must put it in the same territory as some serious cars. As a rough calc you must be running around the 380bhp/t mark . It was quick before the SC, must be ballistic now - it’s going to be a exciting summer!! 👍🏻

  21. Just to finish this thread off, my 64Gb USB thingy arrived and it’s TINY! Barely any bigger than the USB connector itself! It wasn’t entirely without issues, though... The radio in the GSF (presumably RCF and others with a USB music input too) **only** supports the FAT32 file format. Windows doesn’t officially support any drives larger than 32Gb unless on a NTFS or exFAT file system. Poop! However, there are a wealth of free programs out there that *can* format a drive bigger than this size limit to whatever file system you choose! Other options include using an Xbox360 to perform the format! Problem solved! Now to spend all weekend filling the device with tunes for every occasion!

  22. Fingers crossed she suddenly doesn't change her story and says you reversed into her [read about this so much on PH]! I wonder if recording them admitting it was their fault is the best idea? Hope you get it all sorted...see if she'll pay for the damage in cash first maybe?

  23. Well this post prompted me to have a look on ebay, seems >most of the ones I looked at< had some issue or other. The last I looked at was the 121k miles below, he says: ''WANTS EXHAUST REPAIR FOR TEST,'', he obviously cannot read as an MOT history check showed 8 points of failure on the MOT..reg, NXO2VSN What needs sorting out on your LS?

  24. Get it checked If there is any damage to the bumper carrier or support bars this could mean that in the event of a 'real' crash the car does not perform as it should and you'll end up injured. Just had this with my wife's car.

  26. The other advantage over the 06 plates I saw advertised is the tax as it's £300-is as opposed to £520. Daft really as it's the same car as far as I can see.

  27. I had the same problem myself with mine. Could not do it for love nor money. I then put my 3 year old daughter in the drivers seat and she pressed a few buttons. Then hey presto, my contacts transferred 😄

  30. Parker's shows the GS 300 boot at 430 litres and the GS 450H at 280 litres. With the Hybrid's battery pack taking up most of the space behind the rear seats. But they don't half pack a punch [emoji14] https://www.parkers.co.uk/lexus/gs/saloon-2005/specs/

  31. I would forfeit a kidney to own this car. In fact I can't think of a more desirable vehicle. Problem is I would need to hire an SAS battalion to stop it from being nicked.

  36. Essentially SRP is loaded with fillers. Whilst it does have some abrasives, it mainly cleans scratches of dirt and covers them up with a polymer. These get washed off so the scratches will return down the line. Ideally you want a pure finishing polish - Britemax Black Max is excellent by hand or machine. Dont really know why its called Black Max because its suitable for all colours. Its great for getting rid of the minor swirls and easy to use Its called a "Polishing Glaze" but its a bit of a misnomer. Its designed for the American market who use different terms to us, so a glaze is a finishing polish. Britemax has confirmed it doesn't have fillers in it but a polymer which coats the car ready for wax/sealants.

  42. Had another part turn up yesterday thanks to co-ordsport (part box) my mishimoto oil sandwich plate is here. Got this trial fitted to just to see how it went on, it can be rotated to sit in what ever position you need for the ports. This will now allow me take an oil feed for the turbo and also fit oil pressure/temp sensors for gauges. Rod bearings are going to be here on monday along with my turbo, cannot wait to get some momentum back to this build! Hope you guys are enjoying the updates, ive been toying with the idea of doing a youtube channel dedicated for the build, not that confident infront of the camera though so we will see how that goes

  43. Got some more done today back on the engine, weather was not ideal for this but its 1 of those jobs ive been meaning to do since having the engine stripped. It was time to paint everything and make it look nice and fresh. I removed the oil filter housing first as this was still on the block then i got the block masked up... The block was cleaned off and it left just a bit of surface rust but wasnt too bothered about this, i then did 3 coats of high temp hammerite satin black. I was going to go for gloss but i figured satin would be better if i ever had any sort of a leak and also it looks just a little more subtle. Whilst i was at it i also cleaned up the engine mount brackets and the oil filter housing and gave them a blast of aluminium paint and got them fitted back on the block. i also masked up the secondary sump and got that painted again in alluminium paint and this also turned out pretty good. and thats it for now, will hopefully be doing the piston ring gaps pretty soon as i now have a proper ring filer, this is going to be a very long tedious job as ive got to do both compression rings of each piston

  46. I would love that Mehari! It goes against most of my gut instincts. French - open to the British elements - old - over priced - gaudy colour - rust bucket underneath the shiny paint. BUT ...... I still love it! Thank goodness I have a wife who keeps the password to Ebay auctions!
