  3. Changed 24/03/2006. Prior to this the VED was broken down into bands A to K. K was the top band and was for cars with a CO2 emission (g/km) of 201 and above. Then, on said date, bands L and M were added. Band K changed to CO2 of 201-225 g/km, band L is for CO2 of 226-255 g/km and M is for CO2 over 255 g/km. Both L and M bands more than £200.00 p.a more than the band K charge. As the GS 300's emission rating is 232 g/km it was placed into band L and that is why the earlier models are cheaper to tax.

  6. After reading Honest John, I bought some MER Windscreen cleaner. I have to say, it's very good. Cleaned my screen, stopped the wiper squeak and removed the marks I always saw when it rained - like it does 364 days of the year.

  7. I have always said that the Jaguar XF and the Mk3 GS are near identical from a side profile. Considering this GS model was introduced in 2005 and the XF in 2008 I wonder who copied who!?! Interestingly I parked next to an XF once that was a similar colour to my 450h. I returned at the same time as the Jag owner only to see him go to the drivers door of my car. We did have a laugh and a short discussion about the similarity of the two.

  9. This is the third GS I've seen, and in all honesty it's hard to see how I could have found a better one. It really is just about in showroom condition. 68k full Lexus history. Maybe not everyone's choice but I particularly wanted cream leather. Hopefully this will be our means of getting to Austria in the spring.

  10. First off i would like to thank members for their earlier advice on my exhaust. I decided to go for stainless and i don't regret it the system has been replaced from cat back including the manifold clamps which were well rusted I have kept the original secondary cats because they were in such good condition kept the downstream sensors omitted the mid silencer but had oversized polished back box's with 3 1/2 " round polished tail pipes. Well what a difference it is slightly louder sounds very similar to a nissan 350z and definitely more responsive. They have made a superb job all sections jointed so can be removed or altered easily very pleased

  12. I think that's the solution, keep on top of it which is so much easier than attacking it once a year. The interior is so nice I can't imagine letting even the smallest mark stay for long. Just started booking accommodation for our drive to Austria in the Spring, I'm looking forward to that!

  16. Another one for dark blue and cream but biased as that’s what mine is[emoji3] I find it really easy to keep the interior clean. I keep some leather seat cloths in the glove box and quick wipe down once a week keeps them spotless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I lot of people don't seem to like it but as they're rare I think some people's opinions are based upon pictures rather than in the flesh. When nice and clean, in the sun it truly is stunning. ISFs generally look far better in the flesh anyway but particularly the Mesa Red!! I love it and genuinely wouldn't pick another colour over it. Looked at a few and fell in love with it instantly Marcus

  21. Ooh that looks very clean, I did look at a low mileage one in your colour, before I got my first white one, I do like the Mesa red, quite rare, but looks really classy, I was blown away by how it looked when I saw it in the flesh

  22. I guess white and black are always going to look dirty shortly after washing, which is why so many go for a neutral grey, as they can go longer between washes. (I'm not talking about Lexus owners of course - we keep our cars spotless regardless of colour).

  23. Yes spot on, got it Feb 2017 to replace a series of fantastic Fireblades thinking it would be better for my aging and aching knees and hips. It's a lovely bike but I still get aches riding it and it's obviously not quite as exciting as the Blade, so the plan is to go back to the Blade and just take a couple of paracetamol when I go out for a ride!

  28. Inform your insurance company but don't action anything. Contact her company first and log a claim, they will contact her to ask her whether shes liable. If she does admit guilt. her insurance company will take care of everything from a courtesy car to repair. Also if you insist you get it fixed by Lexus they will probably authorise it. If you DO claim even a non fault with your own insurance company, an appointed Accident Management Company will be dealing with you and they will provide you the courtesy car etc but will skin her insurance company alive with extortionate charges - Thats how they make money. If you go direct with her company even if they fulfill all your requests like fixed by Lexus etc they will probably still save money. So they will be very cooperative to you if you did. Its all a numbers game!

  30. RPM in Malvern have managed to locate the sensor (to the right (looking at it from the rear) of the heater vent, under the driver's seat) and photographed it to get the proper part number, which is: 89183-48010. Looking on eBay, I saw there are a few used ones for between £15 - £20 and, thinking that it might be more prudent to buy new on this occasion, I contacted a local Toyota Dealer to find out how much it would be but, unfortunately, they will not have any in stock until the 6th of April. Obviously, I don't want to wait until then but, nonetheless, asked about the price... £529.00 + VAT! OVER £600 FOR A SENSOR!! ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!! Needless to say, I have just ordered it off of eBay!

  33. Please don’t get confused regarding the coolant leak issue, don’t believe U.K. models suffer from this, nor the sticky interior trim or any other minor niggles/issues raised across the pond. Mine has been running fine with 640hp thanks to the addition of an RR-Racing supercharger kit, but not had coolant leaks etc. Lexus have checked it for me, nothing. Pound for pound the most reliable car I’ve owned. Sorry to see you go, but hope the car finds a loving new home, it deserves it.

  34. Hi ChrisM, Try using velcro (I used old golf glove secure flaps), at each side in opposite corners of both the blanket and the floor panel. No-Nails, Gorilla glue etc., or heavy duty staples may work or better still rivets through the floor panel. Simple to remove the blanket then if necessary.

  35. I carry my wifes' disability buggy in the rear of my SE-L and have a LEXUS rubber boot mat to protect the floor, and use a blanket that I rollout over the bumper to protect it. I have tucked the end under the boot flap, over the spare wheel, to keep it from slipping out. Maybe not elegant but does the job.

  37. Hi Nickyt211, did you find what you wanted, if not (as new member and picking up older questions), had the same dilemma, but eventually used a boot liner approx £12 from TKMAX which has a large fold over rear flap (very strong material not just cheap plastic), it both protects from the dirt and so far after 3 years any scuffing.

  38. Hi guys, newbie first time poster here in the process of trying to fix the wife's nav screen which became temperamental, then finally stopped responding a couple of weeks ago. I've removed the unit and found that the part number is 86110-48270. Having searched the usual Ebay listings there seem to be some identical units for the 2nd gen RX with a slight variation on the part number such as: 86110-48130 86110-48210 86110-48410 and so on... Does anyone know if there is actually any real difference that would mean these units would not be compatible? All the plugs look the same on the back of the unit, so I'm wondering if it's maybe a version update or year break that drives the different part number, meaning I could shop around and save a few ££. Thanks!

  41. According to toyodiy.com your existing one and the 86110-48130 are both RX300/330/350 and the other two on your list are for the RX400h. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether or not it would make a difference.

  42. Not sure what the differencies are, but I've got a funny story to tell... About a year ago I went to my dealer to enquire about headlight convertors for Europe, I got out the car and automatically locked the car, I forgot my wife was still inside so I unlocked it again using the remote. Of course, if you unlock the doors and don't open them again, after about 30 seconds they lock again. By this time I was well inside the dealer discussing said converters while being aware of a car alarm going off outside (didn't put two and two together), went back to the car with the wife giving me a stare (the kind of stare when I've done something bad). She said the alarm had gone off and all the doors had locked and she couldn't get out! Naturally I found this funny but she didn't
