Since owning an IS-F I completely understand the prices the dealers are asking for the cars, if someone pays whatever the dealer is asking then the car is worth the asking price, maybe not to you but it is to someone else, the one thing I don't get is when people say "for £25k I could of bought a M3/5 or RS4/6 or Jag R" well go andl buy one then, however if you want a four seat 400+bhp high performance saloon from Lexus then the price is the price...........................

  4. The Bilt Hamber Clay bar is the one to get. You can divide the blue bar into 4, then soften it in warm water. Work it out into a bear mat sized piece. The beauty is it uses just water as a lubricate. What comes off is amazing. Then any really good polish will do. Polish is slightly abrasive so it will pull even more marks off, then the final Autoglym wax. Never thought clay barring was such a big deal, till I did one. Was truly shocked at the difference. If you rub your fingers over a clean car, and you feel little nicks and full stops......clay bar it.

  6. Low voltage as you cranked the engine upset the body electronics. Warning lights should all clear once you have three cycles of the ignition/engine start without further errors being seen. Those warning lights aren't engine related so shouldn't be O2 or MAF sensor. Potentially could be something like an ABS sensor but unlikely. Get the battery charged and check it's voltage once left overnight to see if it is holding a charge correctly.

Genuine UCAs are coming up at £147.00 each plus around £60.00 shipping from Amayama Japan with 3-4 day delivery but bear in mind HMRC may pounce and delay the package to add to their own coffers! Even bearing that in mind they are still cheap compared to Lexus UK who the last I required ONE quoted £521.00!

  9. As most of you no doubt are aware my isF has gone now and therefore the parts I had for her are up for grabs. There is a full set of wheels which were my summer spare, I had them fitted with brand new OEM Spec and size Bridgestone RE050 Tyres recently ready to go so they are unused, receipt to prove all balanced and new valves. The wheels themselves are in excellent condition with some minor marks and paint imperfections and very importantly they are the correct set as many of you know these wheels are corner specific. I also have a complete exhaust system, again in excellent condition minor surface marks but no damage, and an additional pair of back boxes, now if someone was of a mind to keep there cars system standard this is a perfect set for a fabricator to fit a valved set up to. Anyone interested please pm me for further info prices and additional photos as required, I'm happy to delver it all to a reasonable distance within an agreed price.   11. Yes very annoying. (I like the banging-head against brick wall emoticon. You've got to have a sense of humour in these circumstances). I remember taking delivery of a brand new Ford Granada donkey's years ago and within days getting a puncture similar to yours and having to replace a brand new tyre! Arghh.

  12. I'm very surprised at your comments on your cars headlights. I have to definitely disagree. The dual xenon headlights on the gen 3 IS are excellent in dip and main beam. The cars you see with glaring headlights are illegal in that wrong bulbs in wrong headlights are being used. That is conversion to higher bright light from headlights. Wrong reflectors and lenses. I suggest take your car to a MOT station and get the levels checked of the headlights. On my car the lights are superb.

  15. Guys, I loved my ISF and wouldn't have wanted to part with it without the change being for the right car. As you will know I nearly bought an RCF last October but thanks to much help on here a bad decision was avoided. I have been looking ever since, so when the RCF with the correct spec, mileage and history came up, I went to the dealer and a deal was done. In my opinion they gave me a very good price for mine. Like @Big Rat said, i don't think i would have got that privately and I only parted with the ISF secure in the knowledge that the deal for the RCF was done.

  16. I went to my local tyre fitter. The tyres do not need removing from the rim just the outside bead pushed off into the centre of the rim. You can then remove the monitor valve to work on, and fit a standard rubber valve so that you can continue to use the car. There is no need to re-balance because the tyre has not been moved on the rim. My tyre fitter charged me £5 for each tyre worked on including the rubber valves. John.

  17. Both the same, it is just that the 300h uses the electric motor for regenarative brakes so the mechanical ones only get engaged if you need more stopping power than the motor can provide on its own. If you don't brake heavily the rear pads hardly get used and corrosion can set in.

  19. The dealers can afford to wait, not just the ISF but many Lexus models. The amount of times I've heard from Lexus dealers that 'I can't remember the last time I discounted a price on one of our used cars' . They won't budge, good business strategy to be fair but not good for the purchaser.

  21. I don’t think you’re having a go mate, we’re all just having a discussion :) They aren’t going anywhere. There is currently 5 on the Lexus used site. A good few of those have been there for many months. The couple that have sold recently at Lexus dealerships (a white one at Liverpool Lexus that’s was owned by a forum member and a black one that dropped to under £19k but wasn’t really mentioned on here) were both under that magic £20k. I don’t really know what my point is now, haha!

  22. Thank you everyone for your input. Two days after posting this a Lexus RX450h came up for sale within 5 miles, 2012 plate, 110,000 miles with FLSH last one done at 107000 miles, went for a test drive and bought it for £11000.

  23. Rhys please don't think I am having s dig at anyone on here, this is just my take on the situation. If they aren't selling at the dealers for what they are asking then where are they going because they are going somewhere, they have to be, somebody is buying them, if the dealers were offloading them to independents and they in turn were advertising the cars at a price that people thought was closer to there true value then we would see them and be talking about them on here. I think the dealers are in the enviable position of being able to add their £5k profit and sit on the car, if it doesn't sell they move it to another part of the country and see what happens, I completely agree it is a strange situation, private buyers cant shift them when they are £3-£5k below the dealer price but the dealers don't appear to be able to shift them either. There we are, I have droned on for ages and still not arrived at the answer...............................

  24. I have a pay as you go and last month it cost £0 and the month before that and so on. I have the phone which is an old Nokia that fits into the cradle that came with the Lexus purely for emergencies being disabled. I hate the things.

  25. That's what I'm saying though...they aren't selling at the dealer prices! Not that that's a concern of the people who part exchanged them, but it's a pain for me cos there was a higher chance I could of bought one of them before the dealer stuck on their £5k+! I think it's fair to say 'I could of got such and such for £25k'. At the end of the day they perceive an M5 [or whatever] to be a class above and worth the extra money. For £20k and under I don't think anything comes close to an ISF.

  26. ps to last - I should say I was playing Music via the bluetooth and clarty was superb. Never used a phone in a Car but bluetooth could (if unlikely) to be useful, I suppose. Personally I hate mobile phones and as my last months Virgin bill was £1.50 (no monthly contract) it shows I'm in the Billy no Mates team.

  27. I prefer to have to turn them on manually, if it starts raining (not every day of the year), than panicking when they wipe across a frozen screen. I'm not the only person who drives the car and can't always guarantee that they turned off the wipers. Plus it's not the first thing i think of when i get in the car and shouldn't be either. All my BMW's worked this way and i prefer it to the way lexus works. Would be nice to have an option i could set to match BMW.

  28. Autoglym Super resin polish is ok to use although it's more of a glaze than a polish. Bilt Hamber Polish is absolutely superb and would be my go to. One or two coats of wax over that will last you months. I would advise to clay the car first though Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  29. I would bite your hand off 🐀 but I really don't need three sets of wheels . I have to say having a spare set of alloys with winter tyres is really handy. Switch them across yourself for winter months, spare set whilst others are refurbished, or if you get a flat etc.

  30. Being an SE, I would recommend that you take a good look at the spec sheet and compare with other models to make sure you understand what you will be missing out on. To start with, this will be a 2WD, rather than a 4WD car. It is also missing leather, and possibly the electric rear hatch etc Also the car is advertised as Sonic Titanium, and judging by the pics, I am not at all sure it is. It is also advertised as having LED fog/cornering lights: I can't see those on the pics.

  31. We rented a Seat Mii on holiday last year - it might have been a 1.0, maybe even smaller. It was tiny, underpowered, utterly basic and I almost always tried to change gear with the window winder, but by heck it was fun to thrash round the narrow, windy roads of the Algarve! Back on topic, I’d change the battery.

  33. There's a Febi Bilstein on ebay for £200. Not sure if they have both sides. I've used cheaper Arms not from Rock, and as I said the only thing I needed to do was replace the rubber Boot over the Ball joint before fitting. Has passe two MOT's since. Rock does have Moogs for sale, I believe.

Not much to be honest, it is just that in the past we have identified quite stark opinion different between myself and other members when it comes to IS300h "grunt" or lack of it - all dependent on the personal perspectives obviously. To be clear it is not an issue with IS300h at all, but that (in my opinion) Lexus doesn't really offer any alternative for people who want little bit more performance. As it happens I am exactly that type of person... if I ever had any issue with my IS250 it was that it lacks power. Someone else might want more fuel efficient car - fine for them - IS300h, here you have it. But if you need more power ... ummhh not much choice. Can go with GS450h, but that is whole class above and twice the price + I don't exactly like the looks.. or you have to get something else all together. In same time there is IS350 across the pound which seems to be exactly that alternative, but it is not sold over here. As for the gearbox, I was actually pleasantly surprised about e-cvt boxes (as the one fitted to IS mk3). Massive step-up from old cvt and I almost prefer it to the automatic - if it would only have some substance from the motor to play with. My point - set in "sport" and run-it past the phases... it is quite enjoyable.

  37. I seem to have started something here. My comments on overtaking grunt were based on subjective feel so I looked for test data. The Autocar XJ8 3.2 test shows 0-60 in 7.6 seconds but by 2015 Autocar were quoting 0-62 times ....8.4 seconds for the IS 300h. A bit of maths converts the XJ8 figure to 7.9 seconds for 0-62 so only 0.5 seconds difference in 8 seconds. More relevant for overtaking would be 50-70 times....3.8seconds reported for the XJ8 and (by my calculation, no data found) 4.0 seconds for the IS. Surprisingly little difference in times. With reference to noise, I must say that the factory fitted Jag exhaust ( which needed no attention in 20 years) emitted a lovely V8 burble which became just audible at around 2500 rpm and pretty muscle car style under kick down conditions. I frequently played games keeping the rev counter on a certain setting and letting the torque converter provide the acceleration ..2000 rpm for mild, 3000 rpm for faster progress. I have yet to try that with the Lexus ecvt.

  38. Only if the high priced ones sell mate...which they don't appear to be. Look on the Lexus used car site. A few of those have been up for sale for months. You'd have to really really love the ISF to drop mid twenty and up on one - finding a £30k buyer will be a miracle! I think high teens is the sweet spot [though I don't expect get a late car with small miles for this price]. I need a 4/5 door car, roughly the same footprint as an ISF, I got money in the bank waiting for the right car...I honesty can't think on another car I want more than an ISF for under £20k [Evo X maybe]. I agree with Big Rat though, selling a car privately at this price point brings a whole bunch of potential problems so I can see why so many have part exchanged instead.

  39. 315 MHz is not an unlicensed frequency in Europe, including the UK, and would be illegal to use. Any UK vehicle will have tyre pressure sensors and door remote controls operating at 433 MHz.

  40. Battery should be first thing to check, electronics do silly things when they receive low voltages. After that I would suspect a sensor. Maybe O2 or dirty MAF?

  41. On the US forums most state Moog as the best alternative parts manufacturer although maybe going down hill, Beck Arnley seem to be hit or miss as they just source parts and repackage them.

Flytvr, you jest but it is a shame there seems to be quite a number of ex-forum cars up for sale at the mo at dealers (some for quite a while) with figures that may make them hard to sell...a private sale however may of kept them in ‘the family’!

Peter - I do long motorway trips same as you about 2-4 times a year and still get better mpg than the Discovery Sport Diesel and the RC so I don't think you need to worry about that I initially went for the RC based on the £30 pa VED but missed the April 2017 deadline so have to pay £440 The GX5h comes with a few extra toys but the price jump isn't worth it IMHO and probably explains why the GX4h outsells it in spades - basically you get premium leather, heated rear seats, better stereo and some front/rear badges on 5h for another £4500

  44. I have owned a number of Mercedes during the past 28 years and the classic models from the 80s and 90s were wonderful pieces of engineering. Everything went belly up in the noughries when the Daimler Chrysler bean counters took over. I moved away from the brand returning in 2014 for a time with a C class and e class cabriolet. Sadly the build quality of these later cars isn't very special for machines costing (in the case of my cabriolet) nearly £50k new. The service from their dealers is no better than Ford or Vauxhall and not as good as my local Fiat dealer. Don't have a breakdown as their recovery service (Allianz) is awful. Lexus build quality and service is streets ahead. With Mercedes the lead time for a service was around 3 weeks which is no use to me driving 500 miles a week. My message is to stick with Lexus

  47. That is a very daring colour combination - must say it looks great in the flesh but I bet those seats are hard to clean! Yes, the NX forum is quiet. The NX is a hit in the UK, sells quite well but as always, not much goes wrong. The VW forum on the other hand is always busy, many more cars and a lot more problems.

  48. Brake discs and pads are probably OK tbh - will generally be using regen. I bet they've not been changed. Car should have had 10 services. Only problem would be the spec - its an SE - would be hard to shift on tbh and I think the current price reflects this. TBH for that money Id be looking at a 3RX than an NX with much lower mileage - there's almost no size difference between them and the 3RX would give you all the luxuries than a basic spec NX
