  1. Had my Is 250 for about 18 months but was never a fan of the wood interior. Decided a few weeks back to get some test sections of wrap to see what looked ok to me. Went for a 8dm black carbon fibre wrap from an on line company. Did the work today and I'm very happy with the outcome. Had to take all the switches off the back bit it was quite simple just best not to rush it. Know it's not to everyone's taste but I much prefer it to the wood. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  2. Finally Royal (mess-up) Mail delivered the studs. So we got them pressed in, assembled and test drive complete! Car drives normal with some pulling to one side during braking (which is to be expected). Quick picture fitted, sorry for poor quality, was in a rush. But this method CAN be done!

  3. I appreciate you saying that, my car is very average around here though, I use it daily. I'm considering a move too but honestly, where do I go from the ISF without spending £30k+

  4. Not sure what Greenstuff are made from, I think Kevlar, but they are quite soft and therefore kind to the discs, but with quicker wear than OEM and possibly more dust. Redstuff are Kevlar with ceramic particles, they are fine with standard discs and supposedly reduce disc wear by half compared to OEM pads. It seems they sell both for the IS300h, but reds are probably recommended due to the weight of the vehicle (Green is more for hatchbacks). Here is their online shop - select pads as it will default to complete disc/pad kits. https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/lexus/is300h/2.5-hybrid-2013-/29626#prettyPhoto

  5. It is a difficult decision but I think going down a completely different route is helping. This 4x4 is going to be an adventure as I need to source one, ship it, iva it then UK register it before flying down to Southampton to drive it home. This is without ever driving a 70 series because they are so rare lol. Then I can start with the ARB accessories , lift kits etc even fancying a roof tent for the odd couple of days camping here and there. So yeah the ISF is stunning to drive but I'm looking forward to getting my Tonka toy haha. If it were just to get another car I wouldn't even dream of selling the ISF.

  6. My works carpark has employed a outside parking co to monitor employees park in allocated spaces ( management and grunts have different spaces) and to make sure its not used by public. A condition of the use is to display a permit. Many people stick it to to window, many put it in place everyday. Me only working four days a week didnt want it on show on my days off. After 9 mnths i finally forgot to put it in place and got a ticket. My fault but hey ho. Approached my management and they had no interest in helping to cancel the charge for a 22yr employee. Thinking £70 is not really a justifieable amount to pay for forgetting to display a permit for one day i decided to research and fight it through the appeals process. I joined the pepipoo motoring forum and taking advice fought my case. With research i proved the ticket was not issued legally and they had not issued a correct notice to keeper. In fact with more knowledge i proved they had failed several statutes in the protection of freedoms act 2012 ( pofa ) and several of their governing bodies code of practice and as such could not hold me liable. I never mentioned the failure to display a valid permit. I fought them on their own terms and conditions which they could not get right as required by law. My appeal was upheld and the charge cancelled. So if you get a ticket on council or private land do not rush out and pay the reduced amount thinking if you dont it will cost more. The idea is to pay nothing. It takes some time and effort ,yes. Parking co's rely on the fact that people panic and pay, when with a little effort you can avoid paying using the law and their own procedures to your advantage.

  7. @FTBBCVoodoo I get your point Ive owned some munters in the past had a Focus Rs 5pot before the isF certainly no oil painting but as you say 20-25k is one thing 35+ for the Honda........ noooooooo. Again as you say 20k that's another matter........ after all I could say it's Mrs Rat's car just taking it for a service......... or......... filling it up with fuel....... or......... you get my drift 🤡 🐀

  8. No one says the Apache Helicopter is a design masterpiece but I bet the pilot doesn't care. The new Civic Type R's are my Apache ;-) I drove the FK2 and loved it but the wife refused to let me spend 30k+ on a Civic. At 20k they are a better bet. Coming from 3 x white Integra Type R's and an S2000 I have a soft spot for the big H :-)

  9. I’m surprised I’m the only one with the answer to this query. I guess if you don’t have to leave your car in a car park for weeks and sometimes months on end you don’t need to ask the question. I however do leave my ct200h in a car park for months and get back with it starting first time. OK I’ll stop the anticipation, you need to remove a fuse from the fuse panel under the bonnet. That’s it!! I contacted my local dealership who advised me to remove the fuse that is removed for shipping of the car to the UK

  10. @Big Rat.......think the “mecarno” styling started with the RS Focus, personally don’t understand why ANY manufacturers thought that taking their styling from a toy was a winner 🤔.........🤪🤪🤪🤪must have been party time in the drawing office🤪🤪🤪🤪

  13. Stop it! I've actually been looking at the new civic type r for the last week or two also and then it shows up on top gear! Can't help but feel the result was a tad fake however. I love my ISF, my heart is really struggling with the prospect of selling so today at 17:32 I'm not changing it. Ask me again in 5 mins!

  14. Thanks to all, I think I will keep the car in a warm place over winter - say, the Bahama's !!! Parkman.

  15. Thank you. Company called Carbonsupply.uk. They do 3 types in the 8d one I got but the black turned out best. Unfortunately you don't need much so have loads left. Took about 3 hours all in including taking everything apart and put it all back together. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  16. Well, having the bulb in situ sort of detracts from the LEDs - much better with the LEDs on their own IMHO. As I explained above, the flasher unit needs to see 2 x 21W + 5W for the side repeaters + maybe a very small amount for the dashboard tell-tale, so say about 50W to work properly and avoid hyperflashing. Losing a 21W bulb and adding a 5W to the LED's couple of Watts will not do it as you'd still be 14W down. If you want LEDs you need load resistors or a flasher unit designed for LEDs. 50W 6Ω resistors can be bought here for £2.22 inc VAT plus delivery Maybe you can get them for a better price elsewhere but I only live about a mile from CPC so it's my 'go to' place.

  17. Yep as mentioned, nothing wrong with the brakes as such, they're just catching on because of moisture. Parking in a garage doesn't solve this issue. It used to happen on my 3RX. Keep the parking brake off after washing in colder weather. You'll find its not much of an issue during the summer.

  18. That part code is a space saver for the RC, I cannot see how it will fit the RC F. I suspect that site hasn't categorised things correctly. Brake pads too, the cheap ones come up as being for the RC and not the RC F so be careful if ordering from them. Cross check their parts codes with another site such as toyodiy.com

  19. and I don't think it is the shoes that are sticking, it is the pads.

  20. Other than parking in a garage, the only really option is changing the brake pads to ones that aren't semi-metallic. Something like EBC Greenstuff or Redstuff pads. Take the car for a quick drive after washing it to dry off the brakes.

  21. My theory is that ceramic brakes would sort it. I've yet to put them on to prove that. Dry summer weather and it's no problem. Any rain though and I have that issue. My mechanic suggested not using the handbrake and rely on Park only. I don't like this however. My own research indicated using P could be putting too much strain on the parking pawl.

  22. Light weight Lotus seats, lovely. I assume none of the electrics or heating functions work now? What sort of modifications did you need to make to fit them? Just rail adapters? I did a search on the US forums but found nothing so you might be the first to do that. Some people have swapped RC-F seats into IS-Fs too. I love the RCF seats, so much better than the IS.

  23. Mine did that from new, at the time I didn't use the car midweek at all, and it happened pretty much every Friday, much worse when exposed to driving rain. Now i use it everyday it hasn't done it once. I asked the dealer and they said there wasn't any fault with the brakes. I assume it is the auto brake function then a bit corrosion causing the brake to stick.

  24. Marcus yours looks amazing! I’ve driven alsorts c63, m3, m4 etc etc nothing comes close to the ISF!

  25. Yes, yes, and no. Just treat as normal.

  26. Brakes are a conventional setup for changing Discs and Pads.. The only difference is that the brake system has an accumulator so when it comes to BLEEDING then you will require Techstream to do so. So unless you are going to change the fluid just go ahead and change as per normal. Nowt different there.

  28. @mike m.......I like u we’re thinking of a change, had mine capped by a dealer and was pleasantly surprised, I did enquire on a PX somewhere else and the price was £3k less.......like u I was AND am confused, but using daily has made me think twice AGAIN......I’ve had mine 3years now and like yourself was looking at the 4x4 Route,.......but I’m still not ready.....I don’t think 😬😬

  29. It is typically moisture at this time of year helping the pads corrode to the disks as they contain metal particles in the friction material. If the rotors have heavy corrosion on them then it will be worse. It will also be worse if you wash your car and then don't move it for a period of time.

  30. Thanks Toothy, they're actually from a Lotus Evora! It was for DAW's pearl white car, but I've decided to just keep what I have.

  31. @mike m I understand if you can't say but there is a dealer of prestige motors not that far from you and one of the guys who has some involvement with the dealership is on his on his 2nd or 3rd isF, I don't believe he's on here but if you go on YouTube he goes by the name of ' nevertolateinav8' loads of footage on road and track both here and abroad in his is'Fs. Just wondering........... Woukd you be welcome back in an LC no probs as far as I'm concerned, after all not like it's a Volvo is it Big Rat

  34. So this is a bit difficult to see but I've added the GS F to the picture (in blue). I suspect the original RC torque graph is heavily smoothed.

  35. I've overlaid the two as best I can, there is a slight difference in the two graphs so it gets one or two pixels out in places on the scale. Red is the the 2018 engine with the GPF cats replacing the two pre-cats. Black is the older engine with standard pre-cats.

Partsouq is really good for exploded diagrams / part numbers, will at least show you what's available. https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genuine/vehicle?c=Lexus&ssd=%24HQwdckgWVlERDhZJV00ABgYFEB8UFAIRWwgTFmVzYXV7SUlZEF5XFwgTFnE4IEsCfxl0d2d4fjxHVRIRQlYQCRQUWFdLZREYFRBVXVJJX1kATkpqcgF7cCYIPmVqQldnEg%24&vid=0&cid=2&q=

  37. And of course, no UK cars have had a spare wheel allocated. Utter BS. Which is why we collectively need to make a noise, to get them to change their stance. There is absolutely no technical reason why a spare wheel should not be available, so those owners who want one can purchase one.Other comments are invited.

  39. @Big Rat - Man Maths got me into a 5L v8 in the 1st place. Tbh, Lichelle is under warranty until April 2019 so it's only really fuel, service and tax. Minor service due next month. Tax is due in my bonus month (April) so covers that. Brakes and pads all replaced after Ring Trip last Sept & I have just spent £450 on a pair of MPS4S tyres on the rear so should be good for a while. Plus Mrs has veto'd Ring 2018 because of new arrival (due in March) so I am good yeah???? Sorted. ISF is staying :-)

  40. Haha. Thanks. I always wanted a white one - ISF that is rather than colour of baby as I pretty sure you can't choose that but the wife can ;-) Yep. The 1st crazy looking one that's about a year old. My limit for next car is 20k. 1st choice is to keep the ISF but will see how the pennies last while the wife is off work. BOT all year (Beans on Toast) :-(
