  1. Your far too honourable for me!! Money talks, especially if it's going to help with getting a new car. Lol Marcus

  5. My son at 19 has a type R, he’s “always” wanted the EP3, he found a 2005 cosmos grey one with 2 owners n full history, i at 45 had th joy of driving it home from the 100+ trip, he was in his Civic sport that he had at 17 which was cheaper to insure than a fiesta 1.25 🤔.........he has zero intentions of ever selling it, I have full use of it, fun it is, onlookers must just laugh at some “old boy” in a kids car 😳......🤣😂🤣

  6. Currently have a Civic sport as a second car & it’s an absolutely brilliant car to live with & a blast to drive. When I picked it up last year I took the then current Type R out to sort the road tax for the sport. It was one hell of a drive & a lot more refined than the Type R’s of old (exc R track mode of course 😉). Both that car & the current Type R are the bench mark hot hatches, both holding the Ring record for this type of.car in standard production form, & the aero kit all play their part in that. To me the styling makes them look more like a touing car for the road & I like the way they look because it’s not all just for show. That said when I suggested owning one to my wife she said she liked it, but we would look a bit silly getting out of one at our age, so I can see why the styling is polarising. But you only have one life and if it’s what you want go for it!! You won’t care what the styling is like when you are sitting on the inside and are having a blast driving it 👍🏻

  7. Pretty bad here in Sheffield. I look forward to going out in a bit in the Volvo Last night when it started. You can see my IS just a little out of its comfort zone. It's now about 6-8" on the sideroads and the kids are having fun.

  8. I agree with Bluesman, it must be an age thing so please forgive us! Not a fan of black wheels, I thought your originals looked good. Your LS is now very distinctive, but as they are now getting rarer, even a bog standard one stands out to me. What I do like about the LS400 is that it is understated - a car not many people would give a second glance. Your mods, I am sure, will make it stand out. As long as you are happy, that is the main thing - it is good to see the LS being treasured.

  10. It's snowy here today. Nasty snow; ice, snow, compacted snow, slush. Lots of stuck cars, spinning cars etc. We were both fine. Nokian Weatherprrof on hers, Michelin Latitude Tour HP - both all season. We both felt safe and secure. Cars were getting stuck on the slightest of inclines. I felt I could have stopped on a hill and started again, easily. It felt good. And safe.

  11. Hi Guys. After loads of research and not really getting anywhere. My up and down motor stopped about 2 years ago. I finally had the courage to have a go. I have attached a word doument showing step by step. It is not brilliant but will do for now. Next Sunday I will be tackling the in and out and will do a tutorial on this. However it is right at the back of the steering. But will tackle this. Thanks Removing Up and down motor for steering only Mk4 LS400.docx

  12. I haven’t seen a brand on them. The previous owner must have had some trouble with the air suspension as it’s an SE-L model. When I was looking for an rx I looked on here and saw the complaints about the air suspension issues so I was only looking at the SE model first until I saw this one with all the extras of the SE-L but coilovers so I was happy to have a look. It’s only a little lower than standard but you wouldn’t really notice. Until you corner then it doesn’t willow around as much lol. A few people have don’t tell the conversions but I don’t know about the price. If it’s a good car just get it and budget for if it goes wrong but remember it may be fine for a while these cars are very well made. :)

  14. That's very good. My 250 F-sport has averaged 28.6 over a year, but it's a 2.5 litre V6 engine and I like to use it. I could easily get much better mpg if I drove like a granny.

  18. Depends on what you're after in a vehicle to be honest. Will it reliable? Absolutely. Will it be efficient? More than likely. Will it be fun to drive? Possibly, but depends on how you intend to use it. Its got perfect waft-ability so if you take it easy and drive smoothly, it will reward you. If you gun it all the time, it'll disappoint. The main issue I have with the CT is the ride quality. If you're happy with the CT ride quality, then you can't go wrong

  21. I've placed a piece of black insulating tape about 1.5 inches behind the perspex where the bulb is brightest and it has made a difference. Unfortunately my Camera's disposable batteries are very low and for some reason they darken the room background, but this my last photo (I promise) and I think gives as best I can get. The reason for this saga is partly to give a more modern blink to the indicators (so I imagined) but also the Amber bulb is not that bright in daylight in Clear Housing. So its a sort of safety addition. Won't be done until I'm in a garage abroad some weeks away. I've left sufficient cabling as the indicator units have to be pulled out at almost 90 degrees. I'm planning a drive down to Frejus so it may not get done at all. C'est la vie.! Another attempt at the rear Springs replacement taking place tomorrow by my Mechanic. Good luck with that!

  23. The CT Sport Plus was a run-out model only available in 2017. Its been discontinued because of the facelift in 2018. The differences between the pre-facelift and facelift models is dependent on trim levels, but essentially, they've changed the bumpers and grills and the specification levels. All facelift CT's come with a mesh grill. Only F-Sport variants of the pre-facelift ones have the mesh grill. As the trim levels go up, you get more kit as standard. Some of the trim levels overlap. Essentially, Premier is top spec, S is lowest spec and Luxury mid range. F-Sport is similiar to Luxury but focused on sportiness. Sport, Sport Plus, Advance and Advance Plus are all somewhere in the middle

  24. I can't imagine it would make a massive difference. Particularly cold mornings here would of anything cause more issues than in the US. The other cause of all this could be vibrations but then id expect to see issues over here too, not just isolated to the US. We may have issues in the UK but as the number of cars in the UK is so low, it might not be quite so apparent. Until someone in here confirms they have had this fault then we are just speculating. I may be worrying people over nothing!!lol Marcus

  25. Nah, looks exactly like mine did recently with one broken spring, replaced with KYBs. Hardest job is removing the rear seats and parcel shelf to access the top mounting bolts.

  26. I'm afraid I have to join the anti black comments, although when refurbished they may look better. I'd have then done in silver personally as I quite like the look of them. Do they affect the ride? I put similar on my MK4 and changed them straight back as it just didn't ride as smoothly.

  27. Yes, it is beneath the glovebox

  28. Doesn't look good. The UK cars use exactly the same part so in theory this should be an issue here. Could be another good argument to use high octane fuel, more of it is burnt within the cylinder which can lead to lower exhaust temperatures. The RC F looks to have a similar manifold design, although the exhaust connection is higher bore to be less restrictive - this again could lead to lower temperatures at the manifold to prevent this issue occurring.

  29. Yes they pretty much strip right down and all the switches are just held in with screws. Once you remove them it allows a better finish as you can wrap into the gap and then put the switch back. The hardest part was the chrome around the gear selector as it doesn't come out. You just need a bit of time and hold your breath whike you do it. The ash tray and cup holder lid also stay in place. It's quite a thick wrap and sticks well but the edges need warming with a hairdryer to soften the wrap, this allows you to stretch it a bit to get better finish. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  31. In the case of the IS300h it is mainly air that is pushed back into the inlet manifold and the piston that is on it's intake cycle will draw it in. Most of the fuel is added at the top of the compression cycle through the direct injection system (I say most because the engine also has port injection too). For the NX300h, which isn't direct injection, only port injection, it will be the correct ratio of fuel and air that is pushed back. The injectors will only add only enough additional fuel for the additional fresh air drawn in to get the overall mixture correct. Also remember that these engines have variable valve timing, the effective compression ratio is increased at higher rpm to something much nearer the actual compression ratio when maximum power is required.

  32. No one says the Apache Helicopter is a design masterpiece but I bet the pilot doesn't care. The new Civic Type R's are my Apache ;-) I drove the FK2 and loved it but the wife refused to let me spend 30k+ on a Civic. At 20k they are a better bet. Coming from 3 x white Integra Type R's and an S2000 I have a soft spot for the big H :-)

  33. Hi Charlieboy3 - i took off my driverside roof rail and tapped the whole length of the rain gutter - this stopped the leak instantly, i then (a bit extreme) in the end i took out the headlining and the A frame pillar covers and saw water coming on from the top corner where the screen/body work meet - i believe the rubber bonding between the screen and the bodywork had come away/perished or something - this allowed moisture in initially, then over the years due movement, expansion/contraction the gap got larger and made the problem worse until such time it allowed water in. It got so bad the whole of the interior windscreen was wet or iced when very cold. i had the windscreen replaced today - so should be ok - finger crossed, time will tell

  34. The Honda is a great car no doubt about it, with many fine attributes........ but looks IMO is not one of them, why would a volume car manufacturer with a successful vehicle on its hands alienate such large numbers of potential buyers design in some much stupid pointless add ons to the exterior. Ive ridden in one of the latest ones many times it's a fine car and would have considered one but I'm to old........ ☹️ Big Rat

  35. No LEDs run cool - that's why they use so little current - it's wasted in a normal bulb heating up the element to a temperature where it will emit light. The 60 watt equivalent LED in my desk lamp is barely warm. That's why they last so long, too.

New part(s) arrived from China - perfect quality/fit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Rear-Right-Side-Brake-Pad-Wear-Indicator-Sensor-for-LEXUS-LS430-47770-50060 I now have a new spare (as ordered 1 from 2 separate providers - spreading my £8 risk!) and an old repaired one as spare - will never let pads get that low again, so will likely sit on the garage shelf.

  37. They replaced the right rear cluster as they said it wasn't working. Thank you for all the feedback. The auto electricians were Pete Wilson in Mansfield Woodhouse. The bill was £60 labour, £200 for the light cluster plus dreaded vat.

  39. The reason I want a “pointless SUV” is that we are both 70 this year and getting in and out of my IS is not impossible but it should be a lot easier with the UX.. That’s my main reason. I have had 6 new Lexus IS’s and I do want a change of style and a little bit smaller. I believe the 4WD option is an electric motor on the back axle which I have no need for so I am hoping I can get a top of the range model in 2WD. like 99% of the people who buy these SUV’s their driveway is as far off road as they will ever go. If it was called a mini estate car would that be more acceptable?

  40. All they would need to do is unplug the connector for the brake light and it give it external power to see if it lights up. A 2 minute test tells you whether your looking at lamp or wiring fault and a visual inspection of the wiring coming out of the lamp which fails. If they didn't replace for that money, that's very poor service.

  41. So did they change the 'faulty' light cluster? If they didn't then £320 is virtual robbery for basic electrical fault finding

  42. Hi N18RKS we have the same problem in our 450RX and it’s been back 4 times to the Lexus dealers it’s only 5 years old. they are saying it’s the amount of water when we put the hosepipe on and the slope of our drive, which is not steep, it’s a small slope. It rained all day Saturday night and Sunday morning the towel we put on the floor was soaking. back with a them and they said there’s no blockage with pipes. The rails on top of car have never been removed. No roof box ever used. We are at a loss and it’s extremely frustrating. how are you getting on? oh, it only happens when the front of car is parked facing down the slope!

  43. I had to deal with this when I converted my Iveco trucks to LED - I wired in an extra incandescent orange lamp as a repeater on the side of the truck bed, you could put one hidden each side in the boot lining .

  44. Interesting stuff. Yes the panel gap seems to be there and it doesn't line up perfectly but its not massive. The seats have lumbar support, possibly it was on the highest setting? Seats look fine - normal wear and tear for an 87k mile car All the other stuff can be sorted by a good detailer (and their bodyshop contacts). Worth a punt at £13.5k but I wouldnt pay what the dealer is asking for it with those issues.

  45. One of todays jobs, change the wiper blades. Easy enough with the sweep and turn ignition off technique! Put some of the floppy type on, hopefully they'll work better in the colder weather the normal wiper blades just seem to freeze up so they don't conform to the screen. The other job was change the sidelight bulbs to LED. Takes quite a bit of force to pull the unit out. Pulling forward hard on the headlight side until the plastic clip releases from the holder on the headlight unit. The two guides on the other side then come out easy enough. Quite a bit brighter than standard now

  49. @Big Rat - Man Maths got me into a 5L v8 in the 1st place. Tbh, Lichelle is under warranty until April 2019 so it's only really fuel, service and tax. Minor service due next month. Tax is due in my bonus month (April) so covers that. Brakes and pads all replaced after Ring Trip last Sept & I have just spent £450 on a pair of MPS4S tyres on the rear so should be good for a while. Plus Mrs has veto'd Ring 2018 because of new arrival (due in March) so I am good yeah???? Sorted. ISF is staying :-)

  50. Haha. Thanks. I always wanted a white one - ISF that is rather than colour of baby as I pretty sure you can't choose that but the wife can ;-) Yep. The 1st crazy looking one that's about a year old. My limit for next car is 20k. 1st choice is to keep the ISF but will see how the pennies last while the wife is off work. BOT all year (Beans on Toast) :-(
