  2. Had four new tyres fitted today and tracking adjusted Initial impressions on todays wet and cold roads are very positive. Firstly the only negative is lack of rim protection. Now the positives. Firstly the car now feels more planted and the ride is much softer than the OE Dunlops. This is especially noticeable when negotiating speed humps. They are also much quieter. The grip in the wet seems also to be much improved. So initial impressions are very positive.

  3. It's snowy here today. Nasty snow; ice, snow, compacted snow, slush. Lots of stuck cars, spinning cars etc. We were both fine. Nokian Weatherprrof on hers, Michelin Latitude Tour HP - both all season. We both felt safe and secure. Cars were getting stuck on the slightest of inclines. I felt I could have stopped on a hill and started again, easily. It felt good. And safe.

  5. I like them both, but the new one has clearly moved things on. I took our Civic in for it’s 1st MOT a couple of weeks ago & they had a nearly new Type R for sale at just under 30k. Apparently the styling of the new Civic is not as popular as the old, especially at the rear & they are not selling as well - not that I can imagine it putting off the die hard R fans!! I really like the new shape, especially the sport & R. Haven’t had the pleasure of driving either yet which will have to be remedied 😉

  6. Probably a bit of both! The dealers have always given me a price that's a bit more than WBAC.

  7. Those pad retaining clips on the side were taken off and cleaned up before being put back on, but in regards to the sliding pins and boots because I was hand painting anyway I was able to brush around them Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  8. Hi all, thanks for your comments. Yes they are rays 350z wheels, straight bolt on except spigot rings so that was easily done. The ride at the moment doesn't feel much different in my opinion, but then again for the past 3 and a half years I had a celica so I'm used to a rough ride, and the seats are more than comfortable enough to soften and speed bumps lol. Although I don't mind black wheels they aren't staying that way, the squares in the spokes will be smoothed out aswell. At the moment I'm thinking of a dark grey, as silver is too standard for myself (young folk, can't leave things alone lol) I'm pleased that everyone gives their opinion as it's nice to hear what you think. And as you guys have mentioned although this is modified it is still looked after, they are indeed a rare sight and I love being one of a few to own one of these that's still on the road [emoji16] Hopefully over the coming weeks the wheels can be painted. I'm having an increase in hours at work so although I'll have less time, I should have more money to spend. All comments welcomed, thanks guys Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  9. This scenario occurred on my Mark 1 the skins on the inside of the mudguards are very thin and the stone chips piercing the metal are not spotted because the factory applied underseal conceals them .On my Mark 1 rust bubbles appeared on the wheel arches next to the seat as early as the car being six years old. We pumped in gallons of waxoyl and that cured it for the cavities in that location but eventually ten years later the cills rusted through on the bottom and end of the rear door location both sides this became a mot advisory and required welding. I thought the issue had been resolved by the time the Mark 4 arrived , but from your experience looks like another good looking at is required. There is a rubber bung just inside the line of the cill at the rear in the chassis which if removed gives access to the inside of the chassis cavity. Rubbing about inside with your finger will feel any damp and rust, it is also a good access point to pump in waxoyl although this process for the whole of the cill is easier done by removing tread plates on the door cill. As for the sunroof drains causing rot in the ventilation wells it is a myth ,they are designed to drain from there.

  10. Dunno about you but when I first got my 250 the first tank of fuel was, let's just say, not used with economy in mind! paul m.

  11. I saw one in the Brit car series last November at Brands run by a factory team running with around 600bhp alongside McLarens & Ferrari 458 GT cars etc which was pretty impressive!!

  12. As long as you are happy with the test drive I’d say go for it. The CT 200h was the most reliable car in the latest car magazine surveys. Performance wise the road holding is great, even on a twist B road, but what makes that great can be a ride in town that some people find too firm. Personally I’m a fan of a finer ride than sacrificing cornering. The hybrid system is surprising pokey when you floor it but definitely not fast. Quick enough however and a 2017 model shouldn’t have the cvt drone as much as pre 2014 cars. I’ve found motorway performance to be really good. Comfortable in long runs and nearly as god economy as a similar capacity diesel (hybrid works best at city speeds). I stick to normal mode for motorways and slip into eco when in town or traffic jams. Sport is reserved for when I’m planning a quick overtake as it makes the electric assistance kick in at full force without being full throttle. Im assuming you don’t have a big dog as the boot isn’t all that big given the battery under the back of it and the rear seats.

  13. I came south on the M1 about 2000 last night, it was the first time I have seen Tinsley viaduct completely white, no black surface at all. My RX, on Michelin Cross Climates, felt sure footed and safe the whole trip.

  14. All CTs have the same performance. The F-Sports have a modified suspension that makes them handle slightly better but that's it.

  15. Hi Charlieboy3 - i took off my driverside roof rail and tapped the whole length of the rain gutter - this stopped the leak instantly, i then (a bit extreme) in the end i took out the headlining and the A frame pillar covers and saw water coming on from the top corner where the screen/body work meet - i believe the rubber bonding between the screen and the bodywork had come away/perished or something - this allowed moisture in initially, then over the years due movement, expansion/contraction the gap got larger and made the problem worse until such time it allowed water in. It got so bad the whole of the interior windscreen was wet or iced when very cold. i had the windscreen replaced today - so should be ok - finger crossed, time will tell

  16. Never ever, call a parking co. They record call but you will have no record of the conversation. Email is best as its give a trail. Another trick they use after the toothless debt collector letters is to go quiet. People think they give up but in reality they have 6yrs to chase people. They give it a while then start again believing people will have forgotten any relevant information, while they still have it in a file. Hopefully your past the 6. As for contacting companies to cancel its a case of always researching the ceo and contacting directly. Customer services or store managers are usually useless. The parking co aim is to get people to pay out of panic and belief they have no course of action when actually with a bit of research they can usually be beaten.

  17. Hi I am not sure its to do with how many NXs get stolen, its more to do with where I park and what are the risks of it being stolen. I have known of RXs and CTs being stolen as well as other makes. My local area suffers from spates of car thefts and I am thinking and researching trackers. To be fair to my local Lexus dealer, they have quoted me a price on par to companies advertised on the internet (for a Tracker Locate).

  18. Not owning a Lexus (although foolish and misguided ) doesn't prevent you from posting on the forum if you wish. To be fair, a jag would probably be the only choice should I ever change marque, so I for one, would be interested in your owners experience. Did you go for petrol or diesel? How old?

  20. No Diesels no good for the rep mobile crowd ala BMW 520d or in the infamous/typical Vauxhall Insignia SRI (Sales Rep Inside) model. I love having a car that I hardly see on the road unlike my previous car BMW E60.
