  1. If you want real exclusivity get a GSF.....................

  2. Agree 100% but that said my CLS55 was pretty exclusive but much like the IS-F, it didn't really stand out, looking (to Joe Public at least) very much like it's "lesser" variants. The RC just screams out at one, even parked up in the corner of a car park there's almost like a big balloon floating above it saying "Look at me"!! Even without the rich burble of the V8 to attract attention mine seems to catch the eye of passing patrol cars (it's not my driving, honest!!), a couple have done a U turn to catch up and shadow me for a couple of miles before giving the thumbs-up and turning off. We're just back from a midweek break on Burgh Island and we lost count the number of cars on the A38/A303 that pulled along side then dropped back to check out the car. Exclusivity is great but one still needs the car to be noticed. 18 months into ownership and I still grin like a Cheshire cat every time I drive it

  3. Agree, I had similar comments about the ISF looking so much better in the flesh. The RCF gets positive attention whenever I drive it, as I’m pretty sure most people haven’t got a clue what they are looking at. Had a guy stop at the end of his drive & watched me drive up the road recently - so must be ticking some boxes!!

  4. Each time the car is started or the ignition turned on the hybrid battery will have charge removed. This charge will not be put back unless the engine is left to run in park or drive for a period. If the car is left in neutral even with the engine running both the hybrid battery, and the 12 volt battery will become discharged. It is the hybrid battery that starts the engine, and is also used to charge the 12 volt battery. The car has no normal 12 volt starter motor, and no 12 volt alternator. John

  5. Hi Marcin, welcome to the forum. The GS450H is a pretty solid car, it's a Lexus after all but on the older models watch out for leaky shocks, blowing exhausts at the rear Y pipe and rear mufflers. The Hybrid battery meter will flow up/down during use and is handled automatically by the vehicle. So what you saw sounds perfectly normal. Dealer charges on the hybrid batteries are costly but there are numerous options to make much cheaper repairs, we even had a forum member who offers such a service. Hybrid issues aren't unknown but they aren't common either, as Toyota/Lexus have been developing the system for many years now. There have been several threads like this recently that will quickly bring you up to speed e.g. https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/115281-going-to-see-a-450h-tomorrow-any-tips/?page=1 https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/115355-dads-looking-at-purchasing-a-gs450h-any-advice/?page=1 As always check the MOT history whilst looking at any purchases, they can often be very revealing. Good luck with your search and let us know how you get on? PS: what's going on with your large font?

  6. Absolutely. My wife doesn’t understand why I value that attribute in a car. It gives me a sense of pride and just feels good. Loved that with the Evora. Frequently returned to car parks to have to wait while people took photos in front of it. I look forward to this with the rcf.

  7. This is a big draw and I classify it as the ‘ownership experience’. Much like when I had my evora. It got so much positive attention it indirectly made me feel good to own it. Also, turning up to car meets and being the only one or one of 2 or 3 max is also a nice feeling. People massively underestimate exclusivity.

  8. Last weekend, two incidents that I noticed - 1. Dacia ‘ Danduster’ came flying up behind me, flashing his lights. I initially thought he was angry. Then I spotted him giving me the thumbs up. The passenger was leaning out of the car filming on their phone. 2. A guy in Aberystwyth came running across the street to talk to me about the car. 3. Actually No 3. Armed response unit loved the car too. Female PC preferred it to @Mark G‘s gorgeous GSF. Sorry Blue. I did buy him lunch to make Blue happier 😜 RCFs turn heads like no other cars I’ve owned. It could be the “Oh my god, that’s ugly” but I doubt it.

  9. It is odd. All the pictures I've seen of the pad part codes on the web have Brembo written on the back and a tube of Brembo grease in the box.

  10. I got my 250 last August and it had Lexus service history for the last 10 years, I do not have an extended Lexus warranty or any other type of warranty and from now on the car will be (regularly ) serviced by myself! I have never had a warranty on a car in all my years of motoring ( since 1980) and don't intend buying one after getting what is one of, if not the most, reliable cars I know of! In my motoring lifetime I have never managed to actually sell a car on after I have had it, they have either been scrapped due to mot repairs outweighing value (Vauxhall Senator) , Traded in through Gov 'Scrappage' scheme ( Ford Mondeo) or written off due to others inability to Drive to the rules! (Another Mondeo!) so working on that theory If it is upto me then this 250 should last a fair old while and like the others I don't intend selling it but using to the end of its days, so main dealer servicing would not be viable ( for me anyway) from now on. you can juggle the figures all day long and even put some money in a jar for if/when it needs repairing but it all depends on your ethos on these situations and I for one do not indulge insurance/warranty companies and will just pay my way when required. this is just my viewpoint and each to their own but at the end of any insurance/warranty period if Nothing has gone wrong then that premium payment would irk me somewhat. paul m.

  11. As we all know from Lexus the pads and discs are not cheap, I had a guy source Brembo pads for the front of my isF last year and have just sorted a another set for @Rusty Crobar for the same price of £72.00 the rears are a little less. Had an email today today from him front pads now released and available in 24 hrs for both the Rcf and Gsf rear pads and front and rear discs will follow shortly. The price for the front pads for the Rcf and Gsf is £55.35 + vat A group buy is a possibility but unlikely so if anybody wants them here's the link ask for Sam or Neil they both know all about. http://wrsfactors.co.uk/contact-us Big Rat

  12. These are what I run https://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/lexus/is-f-08-13/is-f-5-0-02-08-12-13.html My advice.... Don't get drilled discs if track driving... :-(

  13. So I’ve had a reply from WRS Motor Factors they are supplied the Brembo orders by the below company in the UK who source them direct from Brembo in Italy. https://brakedepot.co.uk/ Big Rat

  15. Here she is, doesn't look to shabby considering she did 250 miles in torrential rain. Hopefully get some decent weather over the weekend to go for a bit of a run. (That's my work not my house btw!!)

  16. We had a great trip and didn't need the snow chains. However, it was a close thing. The road up to our ski resort (st sorlin d'arves) was about 15 miles on a narrow, steep and at times, rough, road. We arrived at 5pm, and there was a foot of snow that very night. Anybody arriving the following day would have had an interesting drive!

  17. Hi Rod, Why don't you and her indoors go out and test drive one ? Doesn't have to be at a Lexus agent, plenty of CT200hs about at independents too. Your Jetta/Bora is a bit long in the tooth, I think you'll have a positive experience in a Lexus irrespective of its acceleration. Let us know how you get on.

  20. GS-F did when it was initially launched, but then with new facelift, I agree normal GS F-Sport looks very similar. More importantly as you say RC just stands out, even non-F... and remember thats where some of my criticism came from - my expectations were much too high, because car looked fast even whilst standing still, but when you start driving you realise it is just "normal" car (I am being generous here). Obviously, that is not an issue for RC-F, but when talking about public Joe who has no clue... even RC300h looks mighty impressive.

  21. Indeed but the GS-F 'suffers' the same anonymity as the IS-F does. Both great cars, they just don't stand out from their variants.

  22. Thanks Big Rat. Looks like its sorted now, we have 2 possible sources of pads apart from Lexus. All we need to do now is source some reasonably priced rotors. I like to think ahead, you see!

  24. Hi all Well i got my faraday pouch for the keys works fine 2 pockets one blocks signal so car cannot be opened and the other won you use to put keyfob in so you can open doors and start car simple as that. Must say i never wanted keyless entry used to using buttons on key fob prefer it that way and still do this about 95% off the time it's no effert to just push a key fob button to me. 65mike.

  25. Curious! I just did a quick experiment. 1. Heavy steel cash box, loosely closed lid - car unlocks as normal. 2. Light tin box tightly closed - car unlocks as normal. 3. Wrapped key fob in kitchen foil - car refused to unlock 4. Same box as in #2 but with kitchen foil loosely formed around the inside base and sides, lid as before with no foil - car refused to unlock So the thin layer of foil blocks the transmission whereas the heavy steel and light gauge tin does not. But just place a layer of foil in the bottom of the tin and no transmission.

  28. Nearly six years and you've not actually done anything to find the fault??? If you want to do it yourself then a multimeter and some knowledge of diagnostic fault-finding is needed, but I think you really need to take it to a proper auto-electrician, not a general garage or mechanic. I just can't believe that you've done nothing for six years except to spend money on a new battery every year. There's obviously some sort of short circuit or other parasitic drain happening (that's when the battery is continuously being discharged after shutting off the engine) that needs to be found and put right. 29. Sort of. In 'Keyless Entry/Smart Start' cars, rather than having to press a button on the fob to unlock the doors, the fob constantly transmits a signal. Even at, say, 3am when you're all tucked up in bed fast asleep, the fob is still transmitting its signal. The bad guys have a very sensitive receiver so that they can stand next to your front door and pick up that signal, which they then relay to the car. The car detects the signal and flags 'Key present' to the security systems and other ECUs, so it behaves exactly as if the key was there in the car and it can be driven away - and it'll keep going, perhaps for hundreds of miles if there's enough fuel, until they turn off the engine, at which time the car will flag 'Key not present' when they try to restart it again.

  30. I think you'll find that it doesn't. My understanding is that a Faraday Cage is made up of an interlocking mesh rather than sheet metal, but I may be wrong on that. Anyway, here's someone who has tried it and found that a tin doesn't work. In the same situation, my Faraday Pouch stops the key being 'seen' by the car:

  31. The front noise from the brakes it might be from the brake pads fitting kit . I had the same on mine and changed it on front and rear so it is quiet now. Phone should work without any issues , mien does not need to be added every time so you might do something wrong .

  32. I like the the styling of the M4, but they are so common where I live you almost don’t notice them. They tend to blend in with all the other high spec 4 series - which is a great shame!!

  33. I still love the M4 and on the whole, the M4 has less to dislike about it - a very pretty car. However, from certain angles the RCF definitely wins.

  36. Ohhh.. why did you brought this-up... I wanted to avoid double standards in this thread i.e. in one forum mixing RC300h with mud in other complimenting the looks...... Ohh well RC is beautiful car - yes RC300h included... during my 24h drive I got complimented like 3 times, 15 minutes into drive taxi driver pulled to the side on hard shoulder, rolled down the window and complimented the car. There are some people stating that new Lexus styling (the spindle grill) is ugly, but those people I have seen were definitely amazed in good way... and not at all disgusted.

  37. It's not just the F variant any RC gets stared at, commented about. I regularly get stopped in car parks and asked about my car. The RC must be one of the best kept motoring secrets out there!

  38. What a transformation! On more serious note - I am sure many people get completely dumb-founded by RC-F... it is stunning looking car, but they have never seen it, nor heard about it... and because they are officially rarer then unicorns - the reactions are real...

  40. LC wheels are horrendous (imho). The LC does sound good - better than a stock F car. However, it won’t compete with a QS (which comes out at about 98dB)

  41. @Linas.P Linas I went to Hatfield to test that car the day I bought my Rcf from Cheltenham it was a response from the sales guy and his manager we've all heard " We don't give discounts we don't need to " not a penny off it needed 4 tyres which they wouldn't do "2mm is sufficient and within limits" Can I see the service history " Er um it's not complete yet we need to" Blah Blah Blah............As I'm walking away Looked nice but not for me and certainly not from them 🙄 Big Rat

  42. Brembo manufacture from 15 sites around the world, a massive new factory was opened in Michigan USA a couple of years ago, China admittedly can copy anything very well, they look the same as the originals until you come to use them the way they were intended..............then you will realise if they are real or fake.................

  43. yes for sure I will. If you go on this link you can see the guy who is sort of mentoring me with the dos and donts. He did the trip last year and he is doing it this year too but he is returning via china so it really will be something else.
