The chap who owned this is our very own @Flytvr, the cars looking a little tired after a weekend in Wales. Actually one of my favourite photos of the ISF2 points

Not bad, but this is the best parking space I’ve ever found (in a multistorey too), perfect fit for the 4C I had at the time.2 points

Hi, I updated the disc on my 2007 RX400h last year, it has the 2017 update installed, recently (last few weeks) it's started pointing me towards the North Sea (No matter what I enter) I find it easier to enter GPS Coordinates and I have double checked what I have put in and they are correct. I had the timing belt done recently and I know they disconnected the battery for this, has anyone any ideas of how to solve this? I'm going away this afternoon, I can of course use my mobile; but would prefer to use the satnav.1 point

Nothing too exciting but I did get an issue addressed that's been bugging me since I bought my car. It must be a thing with light colored leather, there's a blue ISF at Lexus Coventry with a lot less miles that has similar wear. Also i finally got round to fitting the Apexi throttle controller which really perks up throttle response in normal mode when set to 'red', drives great, really impressed with it.1 point

Driving off without having unfolded mirrors stikes me as driving without due care and attention!1 point

That’s how I am also looking at it John, I think the only way a dealer can get out of the legal implications is to sell the car as scrap and even that could now be difficult as all scrap cars are now required to go to a registered recycle centre.1 point

And you’re daft enough to document your plan on here. i can just see the interview with plod. ”So, Mr FlyTvr. Do you know anyone who may have stolen your wheels?” 😂1 point

I would be surprised actually. Nearly all the people I know that own F cars are connected to the building trade!!! So, I’m sure they’d understand!1 point

I think mine went from Lexus Stoke, then to Gatwick and then God knows where. Whoever bought has one of the best however 👍1 point

The only car I possess, do about 10k miles a year. Regards the wiring loom, this is my 6th LS and I have never seen the engine bay of any of them. Don't know 1 end of a spanner from the other. Lexus Guildford have looked after every one, a bit apprehensive on my first visit to them (16 years ago) re the stories of Main dealer prices but once you've built a relationship with them they really aren't that bad. Would recommend Guildford to all.1 point

Very nice, and the technic-nerd in me just can't imagine what the wiring loom for this car must look like with all the controls that Are installed! Must be awesome ( and that's an English Awesome, not an American Awesome which means mmmmm 'mazin ) probably enough copper to wire 5 family saloons back in the day! cheers Paul m.1 point

$54k total in US will pretty much mean £52-53k in the UK...... If you ordered it now, you'll probably get it by 2021, sort of the same time as when everybody other manufacturer has made and sold their EVs 😂1 point

Hello Joe, and welcome to the forum. I would start off by saying that my advice would be to avoid any that show any signs whatsoever of neglect, and aim for one with a full and verifiable Lexus service history. And don't be too put off by mileage, these cars wear their miles very well indeed. I'd have thought you'd not have to spend £12000 to get a really nice one. Hope this helps, and good luck with your search. Brian.1 point

@Flytvr Don’t be surprised if next time some less than charitable builders whose space you’ve occupied drop accidentally of course various sharp heavy items on the skunk...... and deny all knowledge 😩 🐀1 point

Seems a bit odd to me that the car was running well prior to the cambelt change ............. did you have the belt changed by a good mechanic ok ? I've just had mine changed and the old belt which had been replaced at Lexus in 2007 had been put on one tooth out of true and the ECU had re-adjusted to make the car run very well for 11 years/101k miles ..... Now the belt is spot on with alignment it runs even better than before ........... just check again maybe on the guy who replaced the belt. 😐 Malc1 point

Nice project, going this route, I might be tempted to install a separate speaker for it. Are you proposing to replace the navigation screen itself as in this thread? www.clublexus.com/forums/sc430-2nd-gen-2001-2010/833612-headunit-and-nav-screen-upgrade.html It is possible to send a video signal to the existing screen. I can't find the diagram for the radio and Nav wiring but these resources may help or put you on the right track. www.beatsonicusa.com/Instruction_Manuals/MVA-13L_manual_NEW.pdf1 point

It would be waste to throw tires in such condition, the crack in picture are only surface and doesn't compromise the integrity of the tire. That is how throw away looks like... e.g. structural damage: Old rubber:1 point

@JamesIS220 Yeah they great and I would recommend the Avon ZV7. Thanks to the UK weather I have had the chance to experience them in heavy rain and sun, and they handle very well. the ride is much better and softer also at full lock I don’t get the hopping anymore so bonus.1 point

60k is an awfully lot of miles. Old plugs in the 'old' days were 12k at best. If it ain't broke' theory has some merit, but when my brother changed his Ford Focus plugs at my house (I had the correct socket) and they were really bad, Huge gap etc. I told him he needs to break-down more often. He needs his car and does not have sympathetic ear for it. My old neighbour had a car that rarely started. As I pushed it down the hill again, I would ask how old are the plugs? No idea! Look, 60k ever 6 years for about £70-80 is not bad given you have the best plugs in the world. Think of what a 2% gain in petrol means in money. The key to running an old car is to over-service it.1 point

This is the kit I used - I rate it highly - seems to be available in UK now. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Splice-Lok-1-2-3-8-5-16-Metal-Pipe-Repair-Compression-Kit/273174408915?hash=item3f9a76aed3:g:WacAAOSwJdZZbNuQ1 point

The Super Unleaded is there for people who have more money than sense and it'll make no difference whatsoever unless your engine is tuned for it, which yours and mine are not. I've never used anything else except supermarket normal grade fuel or LPG in my cars and never had anything bad happen to the engine, even running an old Ford Granada (that I bought at 86k) up to 175k miles. Some people like the overpriced fuels because there's more additives and detergents in them but if that's your thing, it's probably better and cheaper to chuck some Redex in every now and then, or convert to LPG which is the cleanest fuel of the lot.1 point

Congratulations! We'd all love pictures of course. Do the bushes creak or is it a knock?1 point

I have a IS300h so there's no 'B' option on mine, but you can use the flappy paddles to 'select' a lower gear, which I've only ever used a couple of times but it maintained the speed without using my actual brakes. Lexus will have the system set up so 0% and 100% battery on the display are actually only say 20% and 80% in reality, this would save you running your battery completely flat and when full gives you extra 'space' for a bit more charge. So here is the thing, when you are regenerating into the battery, you will go past 100% as far as the display is concerned but there will be still be a limit when then battery is actually full, now when this happens, you have still got to dump the excess electricity being generated somewhere, what the system does is to use this electricity by spinning the secondary electric motor which causes the petrol engine to turn, thus using the petrol engine as a load to keep the system happy. I'm surmising that its this transition to spinning the petrol engine where the actual braking diminishes even temporarily, you would sense this as a surge in acceleration due to gravity. I've watched several videos on YouTube showing how the hybrid system works, and in one of the Weber videos, they actually mention this effect where the engine will spin to create extra load, just like conventional engine braking would. My brother had his CT serviced (my2012) and was told your hybrid battery is covered for 10years regardless of getting it serviced by dealers for not.. that info was given by Lexus Birmingham service detp. He got a cert to say the battery is healthy for another year though. Personally i get the service parts from dealer and service myself as i dont really trust dealers anymore after hearing some cowboy errors. Keep the receipts..its worth more then a stamp.1 point

Your CT serviced at Halfords? Holy crap I wouldn't trust them with a bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
