  1. Few photos from my Europe tour last month. Went to see the Monaco Classic GP, then took the scenic route back. 2,360 miles in total. Both Lexus' were faultless. Driving highlights included chasing a Ferrari 358 through tunnels on the south coast of Italy, all of the alpine and black forest passes, and hitting 160+mph with a local M3 on a de-redistricted section of the autobahn.

  4. Hi all Well decided to give her a good wash and brush up pictures below the wright up. First i used my last off Meguires car shampoo after giving her the once over with water nice bucket off soapy water then towered her down only the best towel for her mind you, next decided to give her a claying as i had half a clay bar left so thought i might as well use it up, to be honest the paint was in good condition not like the usual sand paper effect that i have had previously, last owner must have looked after her so**s law says you will run out off the lubricant to use the clay bar so used water as i understand this is ok to use. Next had to use my Autoglym car shampoo to give her a wash again and rinsed with water and dried her with the towel left to dry and had a sit down and had my coffee Once dried used Autoglym super resin polish to polish her after that used the sealant which takes up to a hour before buffing off which while it was drying i used the spare time to pump up the tyres and use Autoglym rubber surface restorer stuff polish the wheels and polish the glass and top up the washer fluid When ready i buffed the car to a lovely shine looks like a tanner up a sweeps behind. Now knackered and need a sit down before dinner. See what you think. 65mike

  5. I would think anyone selling a car with known issues will have priced them. If they think they're not worth fixing to get a sale, I would seriously question if the car is worth buying. There's plenty of cars out there without faults, no point buying trouble.

  7. Thought I’d dig up this old thread. after having a little play with an M140i, noticed a big blue Range Rover sitting up behind me. after a small blast up a quiet dual carraigeway, found that it was the Range Rover SVR, damn that can lift its skirt and get a move on. Noise was ear piercing but it certainly flew 😁

  9. One thing I love about my GS450h is the Jekyll and Hyde personality of the car. Drove from Bolton to Hull yesterday sticking to the speed limit, it is the best cruiser I know (also did 47mpg which isn’t bad considering the big hill I drove over). Coming back I drove via Scarborough and Whitby mostly in Sports mode, making progress on the country roads including some satisfying (and safe) overtakes of up to 3 cars at a time on some of the straight inclines (I love the power on tap)... finding myself on the Leeds ringroad before returning to the M62 (maybe using the shortest route wasn’t the best option) ... final indicated MPG ... 43MPG.

  10. C.B . It’s a two and half hour drive for me. It’s a great place Kemble. Breakfast coffee etc. More than happy to meet you somewhere on route . You can then follow me down .

  13. Picked this up today 😀It's been a long day but loved the 4hr drive home! The ISF has gone to a good home and was sold privately last night.

  14. Today whlist travel the M62 to leeds as I do fortnightly my car put one helluva smile on my face. I floored it from a steady 70 and by feck it shot forward. I've learned that the RX doesn't handle as well as my previous IS but that's to be expected. Thanks to Rayaans and Rich I've finally got my car registration on the My Lexus app. V5 came yesterday. The service record shows that my car had a Lexus service are 3k miles in 2013 then it''s next Lexus service was Four Years later at some 34k. So I suppose that begs the question about the cars service history. Personally I'm not bothered. Why? Because of how my car looks and drives and it was given a Lexus going over a few months ago and its Hybrid Health Check done the week before I picked it up. I dipped the oil and was pleasantly suprised how clean the oil was. I've put a bottle of ZX1 in the oil which I've done to my last 15 or more cars. So my smiles have come to how my car accelerates from speed. And the Service side I put in just to say that it's not so important that a car has a full dealer service bur a part one is important. Because I walk to work my mileage yearly will only be 3k miles. I will have it serviced at Lexus but they'll be intermediate ones only unless the 40 50 60 etc K mile service time arrives then the full service will take place. Sorry if I've bored you but I wanted to air my views experiences etc.

  15. Okay, so the reversing camera is sorted as per my other thread, I've fitted LED reversing lights, a USB socket in the dash and today I replaced the rear anti-roll-bar bushes during lunchtime at work. Yep, less than half an hour to do the bushes. I had to do it at work as the car park is the only level parking space the car sees! A couple of the bolts had eroded so a normal 12mm socket spun on them. Out came the gripper sockets and they won the battle. Anyway, while the rear of the car was jacked up, I checked out the rear suspension. Then the car gave me another job: the link for the headlamp height adjuster attached to the offside wishbone had sheared. Looks like one of the joints had seized and snapped the arm. I've doused the thing in penetrating oil and I'll have a look at it over the weekend. Hopefully I can strip it down and fit a new threaded bar. Although the rear ARB bushes have gone quiet, there's still a small clunk from the front ones. so replacements have been ordered (£16) and will be fitted in due course. Not as simple or accessible as the rears though so maybe not a lunchtime fix.... This car does like to keep me busy.....

  16. Hi some of you maybe aware last year in had my IS paint work fully corrected as it had swirls and marks all over it. Since then I've been on some 1-2-1 course and purchased alot of the kit myself. I've now done a few cars but today decided to go over my 13 plate IS again This didn't take long at all because my washing technique is very strict so very minor scratching to the laqer that's all. Lexus paint is very soft so it's always gonna happen however that makes it nice to work with when correcting. Here are some pictures from today, if any of you would like your paintwork correcting drop me a pm and we can discuss further.

  17. Hi Guys just thought I'd share my first Lexus with you , got it from Lexus Sidcup and their service was outstanding and their level of care and preparation exceeded my expectations, photos attached, this car is amazing the amount of kit is unbelievable and i just keep finding any excuse to drive it, in power mode the car just throws you back ! I do have a question about the radio I set my favourite on number 1 then after 5 seconds it just keeps going back to another station it looks as if radio 1 has been set on permanently it's really annoying anyone know the fix , I bet it's really simple so apologies in advance

  18. Yep. The Motoman one is good too, extremely in depth and spans over 3 videos. The driving bit is good aswell. Says the handling is pretty neutral with barely any torque steer on the 350 unless flooring from a standstill. I would imagine the ES 300H would be just fine.

  19. Hi all. I with John on this one don't bother Lexus cars are not cheap on parts and might be hiding all kinds off problems, there is bound to be another one out there that fits your needs. 65mike

  22. Ace. I bet that wailed like a banshee. A buddy of mine used to have a 458. Sounded incredible 🙂 I used to have a 350z. Loved the engine. Need to have a closer look at the Infinity as it appeals like the ISF in terms of rarity.
    1 point
  23. Haha - 458, DOH! Infinity is a nice car. Not sure why more don't sell. It's the S version. So has a 3.5L V6 (identical to the later HR 350Z engine), plus hybrid. 365bhp and it's 4wd. Loaded with tech and features and has the usual Nissan reliability.

  24. These are the ones I bought. They are the same as the ones that were fitted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Lexus-Engine-Cover-Clips-Plastic-Trim-Fasteners-for-Motor-Shields-Panels/391217719352?hash=item5b1664a838:g:q10AAOSwstxVZ4K~ As for your steering wheel try baby wipes. That's what I use and cleans it a treat. Just wipe down with a damp cloth afterwards and give it some feed.

  30. Hi, The ones I got are here on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-LEXUS-RX300-350-400H-2003-2008-REAR-STABILISER-ANTI-ROLL-BAR-D-BUSHS/263697308537?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 But make sure they are the correct ones for your car using ebay's compatibility matrix. When I checked for mine there seemed to be different ones.

  36. And fitted, courtesy of Paul at Toyotatech (Guildford) who continues to provide excellent service. The difference is amazing! I’ve had to recalibrate how much pedal pressure I apply as the brakes are much more effective than previously Really happy , especially as the ongoing MOT advisory re light corrosion to the underbody has now been removed, after new shocks/springs and new brakes front and rear. New MOT, no advisories 😄

  37. Very true. I've lived in this house for 30 years and in all that time I've never once had a car small enough to fit in the garage (well, not if I want to be able to get out via anywhere but the sunroof!) So I gave up on that idea and bought an RX 😉

  38. Thank`s for all the answers. Now I know almost all the knobs and buttons in my car! With ASC the car sounds almost like there was a faulty wheel bearing! I traded my 2017 RAV4 Hybrid to this 2018 Lexus IS300H. Atleast Lexus is easier to wash in my garage! I don?t need steps anymore! Uti

  40. Hi, I’ve probably owned or tried most things over the years, so happy to help. Do need to know your budget though? I know Rafi over at RR-Racing is about to launch a new setup, but for me you can’t go wrong with the H&S systems. Yes, not cheap, but lifetime warranty if you decide to keep the car, and fit and finish on mine was spot on. I do think you get what you pay for in this case, and the sound is intoxicating. Best of luck with your mods, and let me know if you need any help. Cheers, Pete

  41. Go to Auto Doc for the best prices. For the water pump get the AISIN. Approx £44. It is exactly the same product as the genuine Lexus item that is sold for around £100 from a Lexus dealer. AISIN make/supply the Lexus water pumps. For timing belt and idler pack get the one from Blueprint. Blueprint make very good products for japanese cars.

  42. Yes Ekanoo are simply the best in this part of the world, If I was to ever install the RR Supercharger (and still had my car in ksa) I would have gone to them with my eyes closed. Great company, great people and amazing work

  44. You need the dongle, several work but if you purchase the Carista one (around £15) you get a 1 month trial of the software - make the change and cancel the subscription. Making those changes would not affect you warranty.

  45. I have a Lexus CT bought new in 2016. very rarely managed true 50-55 mpg in the motorway my previous GS250, a brilliant vehicle, usually managed an average of 25-28 the 3-litre twin turbo AWD 740d, manages a true ( by true a mean checking amount of fuel divided by distance) 44 mpg in the motorway and an average 40.8mpg on the meter ( for comparison, Lexus CT has an average 46mpg on the meter, mostly driver in the city though) so yet, for high mileage cruising, I still think a big diesel is better

  46. Bit of a thread hijack as my GS is a humble 250 without the extra 1000cc and batteries/motors of the OPs car so yes mines not as fast as a 3l diesel (not far off though and I should know I covered 70000 miles plus across two Merc v6 diesel E classes) If either of these returned this I’d have been pleased for the drive. This was Fort William upto Eilean Donan. A run which would suit a hybrid given the fact the route turns, dips and rises allowing for regeneration of the battery and assist from the motor. I kind of regret the last ten years of driving diesels as I did it to save money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  48. Ahoy! Reading Japanese blogs I've decided to speak to my friend in JPN to try out these little cosmetic OEM addons. First up RCF rear bumper winglets.. Already painted in 1H9 Mercury Grey so it was a case of dremeling out on the inside and as it comes with 3M adhesive it will stick right on. Next up.. GS300H Gearknob - difference is that the IS300H doesnt have the matching contrast stitching. Fairly easy to install, just pull down the leather boot and unscrew the old shift knob. Feels and looks nice imo.. Weatherstrip Mod. - This I find very useful as no joke wind noise is slightly reduced and closing of the front door gives an even more upmarket 'thunk'. B Pillar is also is cleaner as rainwater cannot get in. Weatherstrips are again from an older GS. Easy to install. Just mask off the trim area and use a trim tool to lever up, the first 2 clips will pop off giving enough room to fit the rubber tab into the door. Use alcohol to clean the door edge as the weatherstrip is self adhesive. Test fit without peeling off the backing so you are confident where it will go and then commit. Next Upgrade are CT200H Door Check Strap covers.. And Lastly as the room rolls their eyes.. Genuine JDM Alarm Stickers.. Did not source parts from Lexus UK as they are well overpriced. It was a combination of Japan and the USA. Lesson endeth.. lol
