Found myself a Mesa red Is 250 the other day took a chance and left a deposit to reserve it and today went to see it.Deposit was not refundable but I needn't have worried I was not disappointed a little more miles than I wanted at 80k but its colour and spec made up for it. Full service history. last one done last week at Lexus and full mot. Vheaper insurance than my VWBora !!!!! and runs creamily. Pick up next week after sales guys changes the front tyres as I was not happy with the Barums on it and is going to get one key fob working just battery we hope. Could only find one minor scratch on it and the seller had the wheels powder coated Result Just need an afternoon to workout how to use everything on it.

  5. IS250 is "not my kind of porn" (interior especially), but even grumpy me mutters "nice ride, mate". Example looks neat and somebody has care a lot of her. And this paint is phenomenal. On second thought, I am not sure if I have ever seen better looking IS250.

  7. @Mark G,I tried using a grandfather clock once in a Honda Civic. Was a tight squeeze getting it in the car I can tell you! I don't think it was very accurate! Here's the timing equipment - I employed a local 'racing driver' just for the test -

  10. Well the GS is staying. My dogs have way chilled out and now behave really well in the back of my car. Decided in that case to stick with the Lexus 👍

  11. Some photos, fresh (dinner break here) and forgotten before: Bomb site. But everything is under control, and work on lexus interior is pure pleasure vs. any competition I met. And only fistful of filthy rubbish and 32 penny found. Previous GS was much much worse. "We do not like filthy filthy boxssesss, my preciousss". But it is impossible to clean this coffe or coke to the ideal, as "velvet" goes away too easy. It is best what I could get after 3 sessions of soaking and gentle rubs. In fact, camera makes it worse, in the flesh and normal light is near ok. BTW what was purpose of or plan for this square "break" tab in the rear end of box? Main tasks are to measure and plan everything for seat vents from armrest ducts, and to install USB power socket in central rear panel. But of course the job became "spit and polish" sesion. I did not plan to spread central wood+plastic to the small pieces, but they were a bit filthy and it was difficult to stop. By accident some polish on wood varnish has been done. Other photos, fuel for workforce and remote for stupid mp3 player.

  12. If you fancy a DIY project you could paint your existing ones. Tutorial Or, you could just buy a set of gloss black F-Sport caps from a Lexus dealer. The part number is 42603-53110. They are quite expensive though at about £20 each.

  14. Had the fuel pump recall done the other day at Lexus Reading. Whilst there they looked at my brakes and couldn't find an issue. They confirmed that the TSB for the RC F squealing brakes doesn't apply to the GS F even though they use exactly the same components. Their only advise was to contact Lexus GB, but based on my passed experience with them I don't hold out much hope for the issue being resolved. Replacing the pads is the only way to resolve the issue with ones with less metal content - That is what Lexus do with the TSB on the RC F.

  15. I had 235/50/18 on my old Ls430 with out any problems. I tried 55 on the back, they rubbed with a load on some corners. Tyre fitter said 55 would not fit on the front.

These sort of decisions are always an individuals choice, my choice wouldn't be spend the money on a car, after seeing 77 year old Cliff Richard on TV this past week my choice would be to put the money towards seeing whoever gave him his face lift & fly off to LA to get mine done, I find the thought of the new facelift dendonc model quite appealing.

  17. Interesting you mention all that. As i recall you have a Tesla right.. do you know how much it costs to fix a prang on a Tesla or have any work done on a Tesla.. I read they also cost an arm and a leg... I believe Sytner don't deal in Lexus cars anymore more and possibly nor any other Japanese marques.. The cynic in me beleive the Japanese cars are more reliable hence less potential profit margin after the initial sales.

  19. The car has flown very nice, but I have starting to look for "something to do" this weekend and beyond. There is a bit of noise on front suspension (trailing arm(s), I think). And brake pads are squeeky again a bit (common copper grease has not worked too long). And I think it is worth to clean and gease callipers pins before they will stuck. So probably "front end massacre" will income this weekend, if weather permits. I want to refurbish wheels, but at any workshop in the area - it is logistic nightmare for me at the moment (or - I don't need second set of wheels, I don't like to rent a car, etc). So I will start to play with rims (rimming?) myself probably, logistics is muche easier. But of course, it will be joke not high quality refurbish. BTW I think about darker gray rims. I though about some USB power sockets here and there, I just received some parts for this, so maybe next days. I planned one double socket back and one front, with reasonable amperage, but now I think it is a bit overkill. We dont drive with children (or anybody) in the back all the time and we don't have a zylion devices around. And there are two lighter sockets in front. So maybe only one double USB in the back (under central vents probably). Another minor electrical job - mp3 player again. It is mostly fine, but because I made really "quick" and cheap job this time, player processor is powered and works all the time in fact. And I recognised it interferences FM radio. I have not listen a radio too often, but if I want to, I expect some minimal quality, not whistling background. So I have to rebuild a bit power cicruit etc. around mp3 player, "as should be" (and as it was in my first GS with same player). Now something completly different and idea keeps coming back - ventilated seats. First, I though about "buy a couple of ori lexus fans from ebay, power them up, make some channels etc under the leather and we will see". But it looks like nobody is satisfied with ori ventilation in GS/IS. LS system looks a bit better but in some parts like overkill. And I am not willing to spend £100-200 for nothing but noise under my *****. So next I tried to design some better approach, with different fans and design. Still, I had a doubts, and cost will be even higher. Next I dived into THE MIGHTY INTHERNETH for knowledge, dug in here and there, found a lot of good stuff (best one at the moment, this paper from 2016: Next Generation of Ventilated Front Seats BTW one of reverse-engineered examples is definitely Lexus seat). And next I thought a bit and found one or two flaws in most of approaches, manufacturers and papers (because everbody reverse-engineering everbody and they use the same methods and ideas in loops, again and again. In fact, even on this tiny example I could write a tiny book "Lack of holistic and creative approach in industry design delivered by overspecialised teams and committees"). So I think about simpler and different approach - to rebuild (and refurbish a bit BTW) front seats, with design of foam vents and channels etc. from best examples (like paper above or volvo examples), but do not focus on ideas "perforation as vent" (it does not work) and "fans, fans everywhere" (they have a few big flaws). I think about something like half-perforation-vent, half-B-side cooling/heating, and to feed this from new DIY "outlets" in rear air ducts on both sides of armrest; without any additional fans if possible. This approach has a few great advantages, like: it is quiet and no vibration and no add. controls elements and "ready" temperature for job and plenty of flow to steal. Of course, it will be a lot of fun, to make any flexible but robust ducts in tiny space between armrest/central tunnel and seats/under seats. And struggle with leather, and struggle with foam, lumbar support, heating elements, etc. But I am familiar with subject "lets spread complex front seats to the tiny pieces and refurbish them / build something new", so this is the plan at the moment, for some point in the future.

  20. Delighted to add that my Car passed the MOT today. Early trip out to get the car warmed up before delivery (in this weather!) and the Speedo decided not to move from zero. Doh! Couple that with the fact that after having spent must be three hours during the week (not to mention my Son and I last week spending an hour) trying to get the rear seat cushion to lock in , with only one side success (I just can't understand how this can be done on the production line in seconds??) I thought today would not be a good day for me. Covered the offending side with Car rug which I do use to prevent the Sun on the rear head rests at this time of the year. Advisories - yellow (and their cost to be serviced- Ford main dealer) Remote fob batteries £15 (only just replaced them and must aim at boot - daylight robbery) Air conditioning Sanitiser £20 whatever that is?? Air conditioning Service and repair £89.95 (it was working fine when I delivered the Car - cool as a cucumber - and on way home -making work for themselves??) Brake fluid change every second service £39.95. Was done when brake pipe work done two years ago) So, no thanks to those unnecessary Yellows - but must deal with that ECU. Any time now

  22. Cheers Guys. I'll get pics up as soon as I can. Been busy cleaning her and getting her ship shape. B pillar suede trim was corroded on drivers side, so after extensive search on the eBay and parts websites both here, and stateside, I had to buy new (B pillar trim cost £176 with discount from Lexus). Fitted myself in around 30 minutes - dead easy!) The Nav unit is going to be a strip down and re-paint (or I may look into chrome electroplating - the kit can be purchased off eBay for around £90). It's just a shame you can't buy the trim but it appears to come as part of the Nav unit at an OEM cost of around £4500 (Ouch!) The car is running like a dream, save for a little scare on the way to Lexus dealer to pick up the B pillar seat belt garnish trim - Check PCS, Check LKA and Check Cruise all came on the dash and yellow warning triangle - asking to get it checked at dealer as soon as possible. I pulled over, turned off and re-started and thankfully the codes cleared. I just had the car washed so am guessing it was possibly something to do with water getting into or near the L shaped bonnet badge which takes care of all that stuff. Fingers crossed, it hasn't returned. First full tank I'm averaging around 24-25mpg. Love the power of this thing in sport/hybrid power mode - although I don't drive it hard all the time, it's nice to know you have the power there if needed. Mines had DTV freeview fitted to the rear (Alpine) so that was a nice undiscovered extra to find 🙂 - Might also fit XBOX if I get time for the little one. It had one or two parking dings (5p shaped dents, so I went to Eurocar parts and bought a dent pulling kit for £9! It takes patience but appears to be doing the trick. One pretty unsightly dent already removed. More to follow!). Looking at the car now, you wouldn't dream she had done 70k never mind 187,000 🙂 My only gripe so far with it being the face lift, is they've added convenience entry/exit meaning the darn drivers seat moves in/out every time you start/stop the engine. To my knowledge (and Lexus dealer) this can't be disabled. I don't like it - but I guess it's personal preference. I personally like the little facelift features (new front grille, re-designed instrument cluster which shows a short startup screen on entry, 5 seat config Rear Luxury floor mount screen). It doesn't stand out as much as my last car (Nardo Grey Audi RS7), but then again it's the complete opposite and discrete luxury I opted for this time. I grin every time I think someone paid over £100,000k for this thing and I stole it for £11,000..... Long may she last 🙂

  24. I'll have to get back to you with a definite answer to that as the car is now in storage because I'm away from tomorrow. Initial thought is no but it's literally half a mile from Lexus Sheffield to where I've parked up. The road the dealer is situated on has potholes everywhere so anything I heard in the brief drive back could have just been regular noises. We'll have to see.

  25. In the past I have had the Hybrid check done at the nearest Toyota dealer 28 miles away instead of the Lexus dealer 70 miles away. John.

  26. A few on here have suffered the same fate. Try and retrace your steps if you know when you lost it. Very expensive from Lexus. keep an eye on eBay or hopefully a member on here can help you out. last ditch effort is a Hayward and Scott Exhaust 😎👍

What a fantastic race, everything that is good about endurance racing, all the ups and downs, the good luck and the bad. Six hours just flew by, and what finish.; unbelievable Jeff! A massive well done to everyone at Emil Frey, magnificent job.

Sorry to have written a cheque I was unable to cash...unexpectedly my ex-wife had a bit of a wobble and my two children had to come and live with me full time...the last two months haven't been the easiest for judicious nights of Googling and herding cats...normally I like to organise and co-ordinate, but i've been doing enough of that with Children's Services, the police, solicitors and the mad-ex...have to say the RC-F has been a wonderful way of letting off steam. The rear tires aren't going to thank me though!
