  1. Morning Chaps, So little update on my car. Finally got my VLAND rear lights installed. Have to say I personally really like them. Nice touch is the reverse lights are also fogs! Read it on the US forum, but does actually work! So come MOT time, no drama. Hoping to get the new smoked rear bumper LED lights fitted and wired up before our Peaks & Dales meet. Thanks again to my niece to be Kayleigh for snapping these great shots. Enjoy!

  4. Hi guys, found a picture of an RCF with the GSF wheels. Looks pretty good to me. Are the wheel offset specs for the RCF and GSF the same or different because it looks like it sits more flush to the fender than it does on the GSF.

  6. Don't get me wrong.... My BMW ownership of a 335i was nothing less than horrific. Just really enjoyed driving this today. Was something "different" I got back in my ISF and took the long way home and suffice to say I still adore her. I am interested to see what my friend has to say when he hands the keys back to the M4 next week and gets back in his ISF. It's kind of like wife swap I suppose. Spend a week with a crazy pornstar who you know will ruin you in the end but fun in small doses before returning to Nigella Lawson for a softer yet still fun experience 😉

  8. Couldn’t agree more, brings the back end bang up to date in my view. Not too much, but when added to my carbon parts, just looks mean and moody! 😉. Quite easy to fit, and wiring was plug ‘n’ play so that was cool. I’d certainly recommend them to anyone who isn’t sure.

  9. M4 v ISF / GSF, from what I’ve seen on the road.....in a straight line drag, the M4 is faster - no doubt. The M4 has a major advantage with torque, so if you were up against one, you’ll have to work harder and rev your F - not necessarily a bad thing. Mix in some wet weather and the advantage goes to the F massively. I also suspect the average driver could push an F more comfortably than an M4. Like I said - these are my observations after seeing several F cars following an M4.

  10. Until the divorce my wife had a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in the household for the daily school run and kids duties...I loved driving it for much the same reason. The suspension was ridiculously well damped and quite long travel (all that practice Mitsubishi had on the Dakar put to good use!) one of the best fun games was driving increasingly fast over speed bumps - I was getting air off of most of them! The car would simply just soak it up! Never went wrong, drove like a dream, never popped a tyre and services never picked up any damage...after 3years it sailed through its MOT with no advisories. Amazing. When the Japanese choose to do so - their engineering is peerless.

Evening all So the majority of the parts I've been ordering have arrived, the first thing I fitted was the rear boot struts, wow what a difference, I can now lift it up with a single finger, well worth the purchase and I highly recommend it if you haven't done this already. I thought this was pretty cool, just looking round the car the other day I noticed the protective wrapping from new was still on the nearside rear door's sill kick plate 😳 I'll be mainly fitting the bits at the weekend so plenty of updates then 😬

  15. @Warrington guy‘s M4 hasn’t as much as coughed. My ISF was in and out of Lexus dealers all the time. So, Lexus are not immune to issues! Sometimes you’re lucky - sometimes not.

  21. @Peter P18 Massive fan of these. Keep seeing them on various Instagram sites and I think they really modernise the back end of a standard ISF whereas they make yours look like something Mad Max would drive pre apocalypse (which is good)

  23. Gorgeous. I'm tempted to sell the ISF and get a land cruiser but they're so expensive! Don't tell anyone but I've really been enjoying driving my wife's new Chelsea tractor, a Hyundai santa fe diesel. It's not fast but perfectly suited to relaxed driving on our lumpy roads.   25. I knew you could be relied upon As for the aesthetics on the carbon I share the same viewpoint as a lot of others, doesn't appeal. Also I have no idea why that blue on the front seats wasn't carried onto the rears. Maybe it was the same interior designer on this who worked on the mish-mash LC interiors. @Cezar B you have a good point there for those of us with blue cars.

  31. I don’t think I could keep up/put up with the ferocious maintenance on a M3/M4. A mate at work had an M4 for just over a year and it was CONSTANTLY in the dealers to fix some rattle/leak/warning light or other. Then it got nicked. Even the M5 on long term review in last month’s Top Gear mag couldn’t be.. err.. reviewed as it keeps conking out and the dealer doesn’t appear to have a clue! Then the noise - the sports exhaust made a horrible, raspy farting noise! It actually made me laugh the first time I heard it. I hope it’s better from inside. I have no doubt an M car is probably a little more lithe around a racetrack than the comparible ISF/RCF/GSF, but I can’t look past all the positives from the posh Toyota unfortunately. It’s a ‘meh’ from me.

Hi I've been meaning to start this thread for a while now although progress has been slower than I would of liked (for reasons I'll explain later) In 2015 I bought a Honda CRV Executive, brand new. It had every option you could possibly imagine from road sign recognition to radar cruise control and I loved it..... for a while 🙂 After a year and a half I started to get bored, it felt a little agricultural at times and motorway performance felt like steering a boat around, I started to get itchy feet around that time although I had spent a huge amount of money of the vehicle and my wife insisted we kept it longer. The truth of the matter was that she enjoyed driving it so I had to put any thoughts of a replacement to one side. Fast forward to May 2017 and we'd just moved into a new house, it was further away from my wife's work, therefor we needed a second car in the household, I wasn't quiet ready to get rid of the CRV so I bought my wife a car to use for work etc... Forward again to early 2018, I'd finally become bored to death with the Honda so started looking around at options. I didn't want to go the new car route, I knew that I'd already lost 12k on the CRV through depreciation despite it's low mileage and perfect condition. I just wanted something fun, something that was a decent motorway cruiser and most importantly had a good record for reliability. I wanted to use a big wedge of the money I'd get for the CRV for home improvements and realistically wanted to keep any purchase under 6k. I hit the internet for weeks on end researching various options.... 3 series, 5 series BMW's, Mercs and there was plenty to chose from. The problem I had related to my budget, most of these cars had numerous and expensive issues to look out for, as a result I didn't feel very confident. I stumbled upon the IS250 as a potential purchase when I expanded my search terms on Autotrader, I was drawn to the styling and was happy with its performance, the more I researched, the happier I was with the prospect, I then joined this forum with a few questions and was sold at that point. I got a got idea of what to look out for (typical issues) and armed with this information I stated my search. I knew it had to be an SE-L as I was coming from the CRV with every toy you could imagine, Sat Nav was also a must, I was very impressed with the spec on the SE-L, it puts some modern cars to shame! The CRV went on the market the next morning, 24 hours later it was gone so my search picked up a new level of urgency, I went out that day to look at 2, they were both pretty bad examples, used and abused and not much in the way of history, not the best of starts! I called a London based dealer who gets his stock from Lexus (part exchanges that are 10 years or older) regarding a car listed on Auotrader, as it turned out he had sold it 30 mins prior to my call, I registered with him then gave up for the day. The following morning he called me back regarding a car he had just received. 10 years old, 70k on the clock, 100% Lexus service history and 1 previous owner, he sent me a whatsapp video of a walk around and 10 minutes later I was on my way. I arrived and found her sitting outside his compound Looked good although a little dirty in Agento Ice with Oakham Ivory interior. The dealer had warned me that the alloys were in horrible condition.. He wasn't wrong! All 4 were similar to this image There were also 4 different tyres on the car with varying degree's of wear, comparing them with the service history didn't make much sense I feel the dealer had removed a decent set and replaced them before I arrived, didn't have any proof of this although the history showed that the car has had Bridgestones from day 1 including a new tyre in January that was nowhere to be seen. I didn't mind so much as it gave me some negotiating leg room. The service history was exceptional, the car had been under Lexus service plans for 10 years so everything had been done, the major spark plug service as well as a recent water pump replacement, it made me feel pretty confident. Took it out for a test drive and really enjoyed it, smooth as anything, I was amazed how quiet it was in the cabin! As I turned back to the dealership I knew I'd be taking it home 🙂 Went back to his office for a cuppa, struck a deal and headed back to Kent. Hadn't been driving long when I spotted a National tyre centre, drove in and paid for a Hunter Alignment, the tracking was already spot on, a very minor adjustment was made and I continued home. Over the next few days I was making plans to get the wheels sorted, they completely spoiled the look of the car and I found it embarrassing showing off the motor and people looking at the ugly things. Before I got a chance to do anything I had a bit of a disaster, badly broke my collar bone and was instructed by my consultant that it needed proper rest for 6 weeks! I had to leave it on the drive for this period and was unable to drive or do anything, very depressing that was 😄 Once I had the go ahead from my consultant, I booked it in for a full alloy refurb and dropped it in a few days later with a brand new set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 3's. I decided to go for black gloss alloys and 3 days later she was ready for collection. I couldn't believe the difference this made to it's handling, it felt like a new car and my enjoyment of the vehicle had just increased ten-fold! The following day we went for a family day out to the beach and although the drive was fantastic (even my wife commented) I was less than impressed with the built in entertainment system! Although the Mark Levinson sounds brilliant, the system in general is crap! The Sat Nav was constantly trying to send us off of the motorway then instructing us to rejoin, it reminded me how bad DVD based systems are, I knew I couldn't live with it so that evening I started researching options. The choices were very few and far between, I could install a double din below the factory system although I didn't consider that safe, it was far too low, it was at that stage I stumbled upon an American company called Grom and marvelled at their VLine V2 product, at £500 it wasn't cheap although it ticked every box for me so I ordered it that evening. I self installed it the next day then spent a while customising it meet my needs. I made a short clip showing it's functions, I honestly can't explain just how good it is, it's now better than ANY car's built in system I've seen and most importantly 100% reliable. I did have a stoke of bad luck 2 days after the installation, my touch screen died! It still displays just fine although won't register any touch at all. A quick Google search showed that this is a known issue. I was mightily fed up though after dropping half a grand on a system I now couldn't use although I then had a brain wave, what if I could install a track ball style device to control the system such as you get on the newer Lexus and other vehicles, I decided on the Kensington Orbit Mouse which funnily enough had the same colour scheme as the Lexus wood. I placed it on the cover for the drink holder, its a very natural position coming off of the arm rest so it's comfortable to use, as pictured The Orbit Mouse features 2 buttons on either side of the device meaning that both driver and front passenger can control it. Again, its a brilliant solution, feels so natural and also means you can fully concentrate when driving without reaching forward to push the screen. The mouse also features touch scrolling by moving your finger around the outer ring making it easy to navigate down album lists/web pages etc. I will get around to replacing the touch screen, although I don't need it... you know how it is, don't like the thought of having a defect on the car 🙂 I have a few jobs planned, I want to get the leather cleaned up properly as it's pretty dirty, should be doing that this week, I also want to get a dash cam installed, need to do some research before purchase. I will keep this updated with progress as I continue.

  33. I have driven a DC2 Integra Type R across Europe. The M4 is like a Maybach compared to that 😉 It was only twitchy when accelerating hard from a standstill or lowish speed. Not a handful. Just right amount of fun. Should imagine on a long journey in comfort mode it would be a wonderful GT car.

Ive had 3 shoguns in the past, the best by far the 3.5v6, was better on fuel than the 3.0v6, quicker and a more refined drive, many a farmers field was crossed if an accident had occurred on my homeward journey, although back then (pre cameras) at 90ish the return was around 16mpg 😳 and the fuel gauge moved too 😂

  39. RE: Warranty, you can still add a 2 year extended warranty to an ISF for £795 up until it is 9 years and 364 days old, I have just done it on my ISF when it was 9 years and 340 days old! It had full main dealer history which I believe is a pre-requisite, or at least the last service was checked.

  42. Morning Wayne - not for a second thinking you are slating my car 👍 Some professional designers at Lexus created the Lexus RC-F Carbon edition. I don't see this is comparable to somebody outside of Lexus modifying a car with after market parts.

So if somebody buys the non-carbon version and then decides to fit an aftermarket carbon spoiler or bonnet, which in some cases (admittedly not all) are as good if not better than OEM then what is the difference to one which shipped from the factory like that? I absolutely agre each to their own and there are more badly (IMO) modified cars out there than good ones, but some viewpoints are hard to fathom.

  47. Welcome As far as I am aware, the boot space is the same for both pre and post facelift cars? The main differences are: "Revised Pre-Crash Safety system and new active headrests The Pre-Crash Safety system in the GS 450h has been revised to support the pre-crash seatbelt and brake assist functions with pre-crash brake technology. Both front seats are fitted with new, inflator-operated active headrests, activated by a signal from the ECU in the event of a rear-end impact. The inflator slides a piston into the headrest, unlocks the mechanism and projects the headrest forwards and upwards to support the occupant’s head and reduce the risk of whiplash injury. Navigation and audio upgrades In common with its sister Lexus models, the GS 450h is adopting a new hard disc drive (HDD) navigation system with the 40GB capacity, giving Europe-wide coverage with traffic information data capture in each country. Two audio systems are featured in the GS 450h range: a 10-speaker Lexus premium package and a 14-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System giving 5.1-channel surround sound on selected CDs and DVDs. Both systems are now DAB ready and provide USB and audio jack plug connection for fully controlled use of portable music players, and Bluetooth with an audio streaming function. Both systems also provide a “sound library” function, using the navigation system’s HDD to transfer and store music files from CD up to 10GB capacity – the equivalent of about 2,000 music tracks. Styling The 2010 GS 450h wears a distinctive new front grille that features a series of horizontal bars of different thickness. The hybrid-blue rear lamp clusters have been modified to incorporate larger, transparent outer lenses and a new 18-inch alloy wheel design has been introduced for the SE-L. In the cabin there is a new hybrid-blue backlit stop/start button and the choice of a new Venaro Grey semi-aniline leather upholstery option, with contrasting black stitching and grey bird’s eye maple wood grain trim. The range of 11 exterior colours includes three new shades: (Vanilla Mist, Richmond Green and Atlantic Blue)." Although they have left out the most important element: It no longer has a tape deck!
