  2. Well, its been back a few days now and driving is great again Not too bad so far; the vibration and squeak have gone, as has the off centre steering wheel. Aidan, the after sales manager, also showed me pictures that proved the seats were both getting up to 25C, and the oil on the shock was mostly dirt. Lastly, they appear to have done a good job on the bodywork repair as well: The damage was on the C pillar above and a bit to the left of the fuel filler door. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the damage before it went in. I am not an expert by any means, but no matter how hard I look I can't tell it has been painted. So, overall, I am a happy man. Hopefully, with any luck, I will now be able to spend many hours driving it

  3. I suspect this is because your seats are on the timed setting. I've just done a test in my car. If I reduce the heating to level 1, turn off the car, then restart the car, the seat heating level goes back to level 3. This is because I've got the seats on the timed setting (which is probably the default if you don't change it.) The timed setting starts at level 3 whenever you restart the car and gradually reduces to level 1. As a test of your problem, I turned off the timed setting. To do this, as mentioned above, you hold down both heated seat buttons until you hear a beep. The seat heaters are now set to manual. I then set the seat to level 1 and turned off the car. When I restarted the car, the heated seat started at level 1 where I had set it when the car was running previously. So I expect that the car will now always start on level 1 until I change it. (I only tried it once.) I'll probably change it back to timed as I'm quite happy with that. But for anyone who, like you, finds it too hot initially, the setting can be changed to manual and then the seats will just stay on the setting you chose, each time you start the car. Does this work the same on your car?

  4. I used to be a bit irritated by the amount of attention the RC gets and must confess that to some extent I still am. But then again, I have noticed that it is the sort of car that puts a smile on the faces of its admirers, silent ones and talkative ones alike. I have rarely come across the sullen envy or reverse-snob dismissiveness that nice cars sometimes inspire. I suppose this is because people know that it is not a wildly expensive car despite its looks. Perhaps they regard it as an example of champagne on a beer budget while acknowledging that the beer is obviously a premium one.

  6. How’s it going everyone? First post for a while since the little man arrived 😀 back on the 28th September. All is going well and he’s safely back home now and coming along nicely. I’m enjoying some PAT leave and inbetween bottles of milk and bouts of screaming (mainly from baby Corey, sometimes from me!) I’ve had time to let my mind run away with me and have collected my next ISF upgrade from the local powder coaters today. I've been looking at wheel upgrades since I’ve had the car but nothing really set my pulse racing. I was looking through some old photos last week and found some pics of my R32 Golf (MkV) that I had fitted with Porsche Alloys. I properly loved the look and the fact that it was a relatively (at the time) rare set up. That set me thinking as to what other prestige brand wheels would fit the ISF and after a little research I found what I think will be an ace set up. I picked up the wheels on Saturday, dropped them off at the powder coaters the same day and picked them up today. I’ll be getting the tyres switched and the wheels fitted in the next week or so and I’ll add some more pics then. So, take a seat Dav! I’m not sure these will meet with your approval and the shock may take it’s toll on your delicate and brand focussed disposition! Here is is a little peek at my next wheels and yes, I intend to use the original centres! Controversial!! These are Aston Martin V8 Vantage Alloys, 19 x 8.5 front, 19 x 9.5 rears. They will fit the same as my OEMs with the 15mm H&R track spacers I’m currently using, the same flush outboard fitment but with an extra 0.5 inch of inboard fitment which is fine given the OEM wheels without spacers used to sit 15mm further into the wheel wells. These have been media blasted to bare metal then powder coated in BMW Metallic Orbit Grey. The centre caps are brand new genuine units. Who knew centre caps could cost that much! Hatemail to the usual address please!! 😀🤓😝 Enjoy!!

  7. Glad your bonfire still good Pink. Nowt wrong with being a bit OCD. Yup misted up windows is a curse and as I mentioned in another thread a time ago that I wish Lexus had a system like Ford. Ford screens demist in seconds not minutes like in the 3 Lexus I've had. So I feel for you.

  8. The Climate Concierge on my LC does exactly this. You can set the sensitivity separately for driver/passenger. In addition, it controls the steering wheel heating.

  9. I agree there is a lot of subjectivity in this but I actually wanted Shell to be better than Sainsbury's to justify it's higher price and the feeling I am using "better petrol" but every time I use Shell it just feels worse and when I put Sainsbury's in then the car goes back to what I expect. I don't know maybe I do need to try a blind test but I've chopped around a lot between the three and keep coming to the same conclusion.

  10. Get someone else to fill your car and not to you where they went and see if you can still notice the difference..... My mate loves vodka, got to be grey goose. Did a blind taste test with him, not only failed to tell which was grey goose but said he preferred the cheap stuff I brought back from morroco (in fact we all did). He is still convinced grey goose is superior though. My point is, there is a lot of money to be made in subjectivity.... Ps interesting story, if you Google Sidney Frank, re grey goose and jagermeister.

  12. Both are the same its just that the powder has to be made into a cream so you have to mix with water. TBH I would just get the cream.

  13. Well I have been looking into this - if you can source a good used part (most cost effective) then it is possible to remove and replace the base. One person done it and detailed it here: http://www.o2bandrea.com/pokrefke//Lexus/WebPage/index.html

  14. Just back from Sainsbury's.. didnt have the Bar Keepers Friend so bought their own make "window spray with vinegar", less than £1 see attached, only cleaned the drivers side .... then sprayed with the hose Will do the rest when the rain goes off, including the rear screen. It beads up as well so not great to see through

  15. Try claying the screen? You could try Bar Keeper's , recommended on Detailing World forum.. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=199453

  16. Having done further research I have discovered it is possible to purchase a new cushion in the desired trim colour from www.jp-carparts.com the car that comes up for the part no 71071-50340-A1 is a right hand bottom seat cushion for a 2006 Celsior that means it is for a drivers side as the Celsior is a right hand drive vehicle and was not for sale in the US. The only thing is the complete item is $2000 the schematic drawing shows a squab only under a seperate part no but I cannot get a price to show for that number .there is a inquiry facility on the site interface so make an inquiry as to what the possibility of getting the squab on its own is. This also means that the part complete from the USA site referred to earlier should also fit your car as the same part number comes into play ,I suppose the cushion itself because it does not carry any hardware is universal to passenger and driver.

  17. Your Toyota dealer is telling you porky's. The equipment used for the hybrid health check is the same for all Toyota/Lexus/Scion hybrid vehicles as they use all the same hybrid, and engine components. My nearest Lexus dealer is around the same distance as yours while the nearest Toyota dealer is only 26 miles away. They "Toyota" are happy to both service, and do the health check, and on checking with the Lexus dealer they said they would honor all guarantees including the hybrid battery extended health check guarantee as if they had serviced the car themselves. John.

  18. The site where new seat parts in the USA www.lexuspartsnow.com can be bought quote around $1300 for the seat base cushion complete, this may help as giving an indicative price guideline but is useless in every other respect as they wont work on the drivers side in the UK. part no 71071-50340-A1

  20. I have three local petrol stations - Shell, BP and Sainsburys and use them all from time to time (only 95 RON standard fuel). The order I rate them in terms of smoothness/quietness and mpg are: 1. BP 2. Sainsburys 3. Shell As Sainsburys is usually a few pence cheaper than the other two that get's used the most so long as I am heading in that direction when I need to fill up. I find very little difference between BP and Sainsburys but don't find the car runs as smoothly on Shell.

  21. I noticed that using Shell V-Power is increasing an MPG (not much) and also I it feels like my engine runs quitter and smoother but I only fill the tank with expensive stuff once every 2-3 months and the rest of the time I use standard shell petrol, it cheaper! 🙂 But always Shell though not supermarket.

  22. Hi, I have just bought myself a 2006 RX350 to replace my ever faithful star ship mileage RX300. I intend to maintain it myself, but I'm having trouble finding a maintenance schedule for it, and basic info re oil types. I have seen the Haynes Harrier books on ebay, but worry they may differ to our UK spec models. Any ideas, thanks.

  24. I was speaking to the service manager of Lexus Sidcup today and I happen to mention to him this car for sale. He told me that they aren't allowed to touch it for any work, even an oil change. For a service, the customer drops it off to the dealer, who then contact Lexus UK. Lexus UK send a covered car transporter down to take the car to Belgium, where the Lexus technical centre for Europe is located apparently. They then carry out any work before sending it back. I suppose if you can afford the LFA, you could just use one of your other cars in the meantime. Perhaps slum it in an Aston for a few days

  25. We use one of these which offers three different buckles. Can't guarantee that it will work for you, but given the low cost it may be worth trying.

  26. I have mentioned this before in other posts: the best deal I got on 4 x cross climates was from my local Lexus dealer, who also fitted them for free... so an avenue worth exploring. On an AWD vehicle, all four tyres should be the same. I can't see the point of buying an expensive car like a RX450h and then skimp on tyres, when they are the only point of contact between you and the road. Go for the Cross Climates: you won't regret it. They are brilliant!

  27. And once you have powered off and opened the driver's door, you can switch your low beam back on for 40 or so seconds by pulling the lever towards you: I use it to illuminate my drive and front door when I get home at night.

  28. Could be BMW or Audi owners. We've got loads of them around here and they cause all sorts of bother. Caught one going through my bin the other night. You chase them off but they always come back.

  29. For what it's worth have just returned from many miles in France and used E10/95 petrol throughout (on one occasion there was no choice). Mostly motorway but did not notice any difference in performance or mpg. But I did notice the difference in price !
